Panda recovery timeframe question
-
Site was hit by Panda Aug. 22nd. Lost 90% of Google traffic. I know
We think we found a reason and made few changes to landing pages structure. Updated sitemaps submitted. When can we expect effect (if any) - few days or after next Panda data refresh? Thank you!P.S. What is also interesting, similar traffic loss from Bing/Yahoo happened at exactly the same date. Does that mean Bing is "stealing" search results from Google when can't provide their own relevant results?
-
Out of total 365 days in a year both things happened at exactly Aug. 22nd. Hardly a coincidence.
Knowing that Bing/Yahoo indexed 100 times less of our pages than Google did it is naturally normal to assume that the reason may be in some out-of-website factors?

This is highly unlikely. We were hit with Panda, but our Yahoo/Bing positions were relatively unchanged. Most likely a coincidence.

There was a Panda update on Aug 20, so you definitely could have been affected around that time. Generally, there are Panda updates about once a month (usually every 4-6 weeks). If you've cleaned up well, then when there is another update (perhaps end of September) you should recover.
Be sure to have a good look for duplicate content issues and any pages with duplicate content on it as well.
It's a little bit strange that Bing and Yahoo dropped as well....makes me wonder if there was something other than Panda going on. Check out this article for other reasons for your traffic to drop.
Good luck!

Ah, thank you. Of course. Corrected: happened Aug. 22nd.

302 Redirect Question
After running a site crawl. I found two 302 redirects. The two redirects go from: site.com to www.site.com & site.com/products to www.site.com/products How do I fix the 302 redirect and change it to a 301 redirect? I have no clue where to start. Thanks.

Question about Unpredictability with the Knowledge panel showing up for the same search
The people in my client's office get different results when they search for their company name in Google. For example one person ALWAYS gets the right rail knowledge panel with full details about the company while her boss NEVER sees it. They are both on desktop search. Rosemary

Subdomain question
Hi guys, I have a subdomain on my site that i want to completely remove from the index. I tried already everything to remove it but it is special situation so the only choice i have left is to remove it from Search Console in "Remove URLs" feature. So my question is: if i remove my root subdomain (example: http://subdomain.mydomain.com/) via "Remove URLs" feature in Webmaster Console, will it remove all the URLs coming from that particular domain as well? I also want to make sure that my root domain will stay untouched and be functioning normally. Thank you for advice!

Suggestions on Website Recovery
Hello Mozzers! I have been tasked with recovering a site from partial link penalty that was previous brought to my attention for this website www.active8canada.com. Upon reviewing the site backlinks and reporting info in Google webmaster tools, I found there was no penalty showing, could it have expired? We spent the last few months doing link cleanup as we recognize that there was some bad links that needed to be addressed. We requested removal of all the bad links after spending time categorizing all of them. Targeting commercial anchor text and bringing those numbers back to acceptable levels. Following this we did a disavow of the bad links which could not be removed through requests. We are actively building out additional content for the website as we recognize that some pages have thin content. We have earned some links as well to show some positive signals during the cleanup but have seen no change for better or worse. My question is, does anyone else see anything else we could be missing here? Should I revisit links again? Some of the links we disavowed are still showing in our backlink reports, but I cross referenced our disavows with the existing backlink profile to try and get an accurate sense of the remaining links. We never saw a decline in ranks further after the disavow, so I'm lead to believe that the links we removed had little, if any impact. I am a little hesitant to begin earning new links through content and partnership outreach as I still feel something is off that I can't quite put my finger on. It was previously confirmed that there was a penalty, but without that showing now in Google webmaster tools I'm grasping at any possible angle I may have missed. If anyone had a couple minutes to spare to shed some light on this situation, it would be greatly appreciated!

Detail page popup questions for real estate client
My client, discoverstl.com, recently changed their site structure so that the detail page for individual property opens as a popup within the main page they are visiting, see http://d.pr/i/e8ik after clicking view details on the featured property on the home page. While the url links out to a properly formatting detail page, such as VIEW DETAILS, the developer says this doesn't affect google as its a javascript tweak that pulls it into the existing page. I'm still not convinced and am looking if this is bad for our SEO campaign. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Is it panda, pengiun, ad penalty?
I'm trying to figure out why my google traffic is going down... I see that back in Feb and then March 2011 it started to drop, which I assume was pengiun. I saw a gradual comeback in traffic until March 2012, which I assume the second drop was another pengiun update. The decline continued gradually until I saw a big drop in October 2012 which is completely dropping off in the past month today. I recreated my website on wordpress, improving content and removing google ads. Relaunched a few weeks ago and still see a big drop. Any idea what happened? I only got a message from google about a large traffic drop in march 2012 and a 404 error increase recently when I launched the new site which I fixed with 301 and removing media attachment pages that were indexed that gave a 404. Once concern is I have no idea if I have a problem with pengiun. Could I have a problem with too many links coming from my blog or soicial network? What's acceptable number of back links to not be spam? If you add pages in the blogroll is this thought of as spam with pengiun? website: http://www.dashinfashion.com Thanks for your help!

An Easy Question - Backlinks
Hi guys, I know this is an easy question and I'm already quite sure of the answer for it but it would be good to get some other views. This website - http://www.collapso.net/ have 261,923 backlinks to our website according to Ahrefs. They have 1000's of pages like this - http://www.collapso.net/countiesnew/Cork.html which link to our site. 43.95% of the backlinks to our site are from these guys but we've been fortunate enough to never receive any warnings via WMT or ever experienced drop offs in traffic. My question is - Do we have this site remove all the links to our site or leave them alone? Given there's such a large quantity of links, I'm not exactly sure what the impact would be on us. My instinct says get rid of them. Although part of me questions what such a massive drop in our link profile would look like to Google.

URL rewrite question
I have adjusted a setting in my CMS and the URL's have changed from http://www.ensorbuilding.com/section.php/43/1/firestone-epdm-rubbercover-flat-roofing to http://www.ensorbuilding.com/section/43/1/firestone-epdm-rubbercover-flat-roofing This has changed all the URL's on the website not just this example. As you can see , the .php extension has now been removed but people can still access the .php version of the page. What I want is a site-wide 301 redirect but can not figure out how to implement it? Any help is appreciated 🙂 Thanks
