Help with a unique bounce rate problem!
-
My company ranks very well for the target keyword "blue link" but as it turns out Hyundai launched a new "Blue Link" service. Given that we are a much more niche offering, many of the searches for blue link are for hyundai.
Because people tend to click on the first results without even reading anything, we have seen an increase in traffic as well as a huge spike in bounce rates once they realize we are not the right company.
Our listing on Google is pretty clear what we are so I'm not sure how to fix this problem . . .

No problem, glad it helped!

Thanks for the video. It's a somewhat older video but hopefully it still applies today. Thanks!

Hey David
Webspam does not use analytics data for ranking like this and this is clearly a navigational search so seriously, this is not a problem.
Video may help put your mind at ease:

This will not impact your sites performance in any way.
Hope this helps!

So there's nothing I can do about this? Will Google not look at our high bounce rate and penalize us in some way?
-
It's not a problem as such, just ignore that traffic that bounces.
If I Google 'blue link' and I see hyundai and then you guys but Google is changing the page title to just the business name trying to help people see which one they want but... people are click happy, and in this instance, I can't really see what you can do but just filter this traffic out of any reports you generate.
Hope that helps.
Marcus

Aggregate rating for products
hello Currently I'm working with a retail customer to optimize his search experience. There's some odd behaviour about aggregate ratings for products. Products without a price (price based on daily demand) are shown with proper delivering the 'rich snippet' search result. On the other hand, products with a price are shown normally without any mark up. Here's what I did for now checked mark ups code wise (used the markup validator) re-submitted xml sitemaps search query is (for test purposes): [product name] + [retailer brand name] the question is: why aren't just these specific aggregated ratings (with a price) shown and the other ones are shown properly? Furthermore, is it a question of relevancy (can't imagine that cause the search query is really specific to the needed result)? thank you!

404s effecting crawl rate?
We made a change to our site where we all of a sudden we are creating a large number of 404 pages. Is this effecting the crawl/indexing rate? Currently we've submitted 3.4 million pages, have over 834K indexed but have over and 330K pages not found. Since the large increase in 404s we've noticed a decrease in pages crawled per day. I found this Q & A in Webmasters (http://googlewebmastercentral.blogspot.com/2011/05/do-404s-hurt-my-site.html) but it seems like the 404s should not have an effect. Is this article out of date? What do you think fellow Moz-ers? Is this a problem?

No google traffic for this site? Help?
Hi We have not done this web site http://climateacs.co.uk but have now picked it up and its getting no traffic what so ever from google do you think its been blacklisted? I have added it to my webmaster tools and there are no manual actions on it and most of the backlinks on google webmaster tools are from yell.com. However when I run it on opensiteexplorer I am seeing some chinese type links?? It is not really showing many search queries at all when you view them in webmaster tools under United Kingdom. I was going to start citation building for the address to help support the google places entry but just wanted to see what other peoples opinion was really on this site? Thanks Tracy

Do dropdowns count as unique content?
My current site has some extensive unique database content by "widget" type. Currently we display this info into HTML 's, but we are considering utilizing this data in a dropdown field on each respective widget page. I want to ensure we don't have thin content...Does the content within the <option>tags on a dropdown count towards unique content?</option>

Help needed please with 301 redirects in htaccess file.
In summary, we're currently having issues with our htaccess file. 301 redirects are going through to the new described URL but in addition the new URL is followed by a ? and the old URL. How can we get rid of the ? and previous URL so they don't appear as an ending. None of the examples we've found re this issue online appear to work. Can anyone please offer some advice? Can we use a RewriteRule to stop this happening? Here's a summary of the htaccess file REDIRECT CODE BEGINS HERE LONG LIST OF REDIRECTS, which appear to be set up perfectly fine. I need help on web page load time, its very bad!
Note: This is KILLING my customer experience. Here is my webpage: http://www.stbands.com Here is a speed test that may help you (look at the poor ratings in the upper corner) http://www.webpagetest.org/result/110628_MW_Y8CQ/1/details/ I have an F on "Cache Static Content" - anyone know how I can fix this? Also, it is a e-commerce website hosted through core commmerce. I have some access to code but not all of it. Some of it is dynamic. However, if you tell me specific things I can forward it to their very awesome tech department. They are very willing to work with me and are now considering implementing a CDN after I schooled them. Any help is greatly appreciated. Don't be afraid to get very technical - I may not understand it, but the engineers there will.

Site problem
I moved a site earlier on in the year to a better server www.keyrs.co.uk, my main keywords being equity release - equity release calculator and equity release schemes. Since this happened the ranking have gone down and the schemes and calculator terms and have hit positions 7-8 when they were 2-3. basically my question is open to all, i am looking to see what the problem is with these pages as it is driving me nuts. All tools on SEO moz show the pages are doing well, however i must be missing something. Mike
