Why Can't My Ecommerce Site Rank?
-
I've already done the on-site SEO things, URL's are all SEO-friendly, etc AND I've already done a few rounds of link building to some of the interior pages on my site, and I still can't get my site to rank.
What other strategies can I employ to get my site to rank? I don't believe my keywords are that competitive (fleece blankets, baby blankets, etc.)

Hi,
What is the url of the site ?
Also some addon questions:
-
Are you indexed and you don't rank ?
-
You don't rank at all or just very low ?
-
Do you have any impressions for the site ? (in WMT or Ga search engine optimisation tab)
-
Do your pages have a reason to rank ? (vs competitors. do you have anything extra, better then your competitors)
Cheers.

I think you have to give the search engines time to register the changes that you made to your site. Check out the crawl rate of your site to make sure that Google is properly indexing your site. If the website is very recently launched, the age of the domain might be the factor for it getting ranked against the other competitors who are targeting similar keywords.
Did you already use the Keyword Analysis tool in the SeoMoz Tools section? It is a good way to see how competitive your keywords are and what more you need to improve in order to rank. Run a Full Analysis for your keywords to get more information.
Hope this helps

Following is what you should consider -
- You got the links but are they good quality links? Hope you didnt make ordinary directory submissions which will end up in penalty.
- make sure the there is no duplicate content which is a common thing in eCommerce sites.
- In fact make sure you have the content on the site normally on ecommerce sites, there is very less content, remember Google likes fresh content. OPtimise it for keywords (no stuffing).
- Use keywords in Title tags (the keywords for which you want to rank for).
- If possible, write some good blogs related to your market niche and post it on some good blog sites and get a link from there.
- Make Google + profile, be active on it and add link to your site in google + profile intro section (this is a good followed link)
Hope that helps.

'spammy' domains redirecting to website
Hi Everyone, I hope that someone will be able to help us with this one as we have trawled the internet looking for a solution! We have multiple domains (.com/.co.uk/.net versions) which all point to the one website, however, some of these domains have a high spam score - 9-11. Our first initial reaction would be to remove the auto redirects, but, the other domains have been a source of conversion in previous months (or so analytics tells us). So what I'm wondering, is do we remove the 'spammy' links from redirecting to our site, or do we leave them there? We certainly don't want to risk a penalty. Thanks for reading!

Ugh content! I don't get it
Everyone on this website says the proper way to build links is with great content. I don't get that because I am trying to build links for a classified ads website and there is no "great content" for any of the classified ads websites. None of them have blogs or any content other than the stuff people are selling. When I look at my competitors inbound links using open site explorer, they are all junk. Most of the links listed in open site explorer are dead /broken links and the ones that are not dead links are spammy, low quality links including many link exchanges. So, I don't get the "great content to build links" route because in my vertical it's not being done. Suggestions on how to build links in this situation?

Will our website traffic be adversely affected by Google by allowiing other sites to post our content on their sites?
Hi, We're a radio station posting original content each day. We belong to a sector of similar radio stations. It's been proposed that we all contribute content to this group

so any radio station can grab this content and post it on their own websites. As the site with the most content and web traffic, could this potentially harm us?1 -
Network of sites
Hi guys, Wanted to get your opinion. Ran a backlink profile of a client and discovered there is a number of sites that linked to the main site. The number of sites are owned by the client and seems to be built on the purpose of just backlinking, there is footer links (exact match keyword links) The website aren't linked together in analytics or webmasters but shows up in whois under the same company. I think the best bet is get all those links removed from footer and let the domains expire once it finishes - seems to serve no purpose. But the bigger question is what are good reasons I can feed back to the client that it's has a negative affect?

Where can I get a list of broken links to my client's website?
I have a client who owns a website that attracted a large number of links to internal pages of their sites. Without realising the value of those links, they removed every page of their website other than the home pages that now reads, "new website coming soon". How can I get a list of every website still linking to the (now broken) internal pages of their site?

What to do with outdated (but ranking) content?
I'm SEOing for a theatre. We've got show pages that rank when searching for the business, but are outdated as the shows are from past years. The pages aren't accessible at all from the site now, but still exist in domain and are linked to by google. If you search the business, the results are: 1. [biz name] 2. [biz name] - tickets 3-6. outdated shows Should these pages be left up, or taken down and redirected home? Would there be any seo boost to the homepage from 301ing them home, or do you think it'd be more beneficial to have more results available as entry points into the site?

Is there a cost per acuqistion figure I can quote that if I hire an agency to link build that we can guarantee a level of increased traffic from Google?
I am looking to justify to a pubilsher the cost outlay to hire an agency to do white hat link building for me as we do not have time. (the site is fully optimised but we lack the inbound links our competitors have) - is there a way I can explain in terms of numbers ie page impressions that if we build for eg 10k high quality anchor text links into our site we will get x thousand more page impressions as our rankings in the search engines will increase? Just need a justification before the budget is allocated.
