Facebook Notes for SEO Purposes ?
-
I just two minutes ago learned what a Facebook note is. I discovered this while doing a search of one of my keywords and i noticed one of the results was a Facebook note talking about the keyword with links in it to a competitors Amazon page. Is anyone here familiar with using Facebook Notes as an SEO tool? It obviously works if they are appearing in my search results. Does anyone know basic guidelines in terms of how many links, anchor text, etc... ? Thanks a lot...

Facebook notes are an effective way to generate SEO value. Use to be much stronger SEO generated but the SEO value seems to be declining. Regardless, crazy not to take advantage of it if you are using facebook. We are making sure that our notes posted are keyword rich by utilizing the title of our note and our "page name" and making sure it is a unique note with unique content, If you do that you will be happy with the results......
This is a decent posting of some stuff you can do with facebook seo optimization that I used in one of our SEO playbooks I created earlier this year. (see link below) I also copied and pasted her section on fan page notes and what the seo title and meta description ends up being....
Hope this helps. Happy SEO'ing.....

"Facebook Fan Page Notes
- **SEO Title: **The title of your note plus | Facebook.
- Meta Description: Your page name wrote a note titled _the title of your note _plus | Facebook.
Facebook notes – they don't get a lot of love anymore, but they do have a more controllable SEO title when you create them and, of course, they add to the additional "pages" underneath your fan page / website. Notes allow you to add lengthier updates to your fan page without having to take your fans offsite to get more of your content.
Some people use them to syndicate their blog posts on their fan page, but I find this feature is a little inconsistent. Unique notes, on the other hand, could add more value to your page."

Do any presentation sites, Slideshare, Google Slides, HaikuDeck offer great SEO links?
I do a lot of public speaking and normally upload my slides somewhere so people can access later. With most sites I can upload to Slideshare or similar, then embed into my own site. I do it for audience convenience, but it would be swell to get an SEO bump.

Local SEO Help
Getting confused about what is helpful. I have a few questions. Is it beneficial to link to other sites like wikipedia from our main url or our wp hosted blog? Does that help our SERP? We have just built a new sitemap for our site, which is good, we didn't have one before. Should I still do internal linking? 3)If I can get a person with another blog to link to us, would it better to get it in a post or on their main page with a button or text listing? Thanks everyone:) I am just trying to figure out how to spend my time wisely here.

SEO in Africa
Hi everyone, I am a new danish SEOMOZ member currently living in Angola, Africa. I have created the site AngolaCarro.com - an online marketplace for cars. The website is in Portuguese, as this is the main language in Angola. I am struggling finding good Angolan/Portuguese sites for solid back links and I would be extremely thankful if anyone could give SEO advice on how/where to build strong links from Portuguese language sites. Will using dropmylink.com to create back links from English language sites to my Portuguese site be a waist of time or will it have a SEO effect? Thanks in advance and have a great Sunday. Ken

When is link building an SEO priority? (vs. something else)
I'm considering hiring an SEO vendor for link building, and assessing whether or not my website really needs link building, vs. another SEO priority (for instance, I KNOW there's an opportunity for local SEO). What factors should I look at to determine if link building is a high priority? Should I just compare the number links my site has with competitors, using a tool like Open Site Explorer?

Links built by previous SEO company are mostly 'dead' - will this affect me?
Hi, This is my first post/question in the forum - so apologies if this topic has already been covered - or if the question seems daft! Here's the issue: I have started working on two websites, and have been doing a lot of on-site work, increasing valuable content, etc... I'm now slowly moving onto more off-site stuff and have noticed that a lot of the backlinks to both websites (built by SEO companies before I got here) are 'dead' and simply return 404 errors (yet they still show up in site explorer). I'll be honest, the links aren't great; the SEO companies have taken the word 'relevant' and completely re-defined it in their books! Will these links - from sites that aren't relevant... but are dead - have any impact on my SEO efforts from now on? Or should I treat these sites as a kind of 'clean slate' and work on building the brand naturally through social media and user experience, etc? Also - I'm re-structuring the internal pages of the site... would it be worth re-directing the old URLs (with all the dead in-bound links - that may have suffered a -50 penalty) to the new ones, or just start fresh with the new pages? Any advice, tips or stories to share (relevant ones, of course!) will be greatly appreciated! Thanks, Nick

SEO Tool to search mass URLs (for link qualification)
Hi, I have been using OSE and have a compiled list of backlinks to my competitor's sites. The next step would be to go through and qualify all of these links for a link opportunities for my client's site. To save me a lot of time, I require a tool that will search all of these pages (say 1000) for specific keywords in tags or body content. A search query might be - site:(URL list) intitle:directory site:(URL list) "add site" etc Any ideas would be great. Thanks.
