Thank you so much! I suspected this, but wanted to make sure by asking the Big Brains at Moz. You always come thru!

Job Title: President
Company: Get on the Map
I worked for the original search engine, the YELLOW PAGES, in Sacramento for AT&T, SBC and before that PacBell. We didn't know it, but we were optimizing and doing key word research before it was a thing. 916-265-2521. Now I use that knowledge to help my clients grow their business with SEO and social media. Over 20 years, I worked with several thousand local, small businesses about their marketing goals and I understand the challenges a biz owner faces. I specialize in businesses that back in the day would have generated a significant number of leads from the yellow pages: attorneys, plumbers, dentists, roofers, restaurants, salons, etc. My turf is Sacramento, Folsom, Roseville, Elk Grove and the Greater Sacramento area. I'm a jazz singer, San Francisco Giants fan (from before they started winning) and I love red wine.

Jump links?
I am using a directory plug-in that doesn't have separate urls for each profile. Is there any way to set up a link to go directly to a particular business?

RE: Tumblr and Link Equity
I have a ton of Tumblr blogs but their links don't show in any of the tools. I'm hoping that the footer and header links count for something, and that Moz and the other tools just don't spider them because in general it's not worth it.
One of my tumblr blogs has a page authority of 39, so it's nice to think of that juice floating around my web properties, but I may be wishful thinking.

RE: MozBar Issues? Can't get info even logged in
Nope. I don't have cookies blocked. I also have no moz data in the toolbar. ;(

RE: Does anyone use an embeddable Google review widget?
I just installed the pro version of https://reviewsonmywebsite.com/ and I think it looks great!

RE: Subdomains or separate domains for dealers?
I have had no problem with subdomains and SEO. I have ranked several somewhat difficult keywords and believe that it was easier using the subdomain. I didn't A/B test, so I have no proof, but I am pleased with the result.
For user experience, I think a subdomain is significantly better. The product-geography.com domain looks very spammy to me and doesn't carry the brand's credibility. With the subdomain, I'm certain it's the official site.

RE: How do you do Local SEO in a small town?
I love doing charity & event sponsorships. Often I can get a link for a client in exchange for helping promote their event. Match the events up with the client's actual interest and they get good publicity, referrals and personal satisfaction in addition to an SEO benefit.

RE: Importance of backlinks from legal indexes such as avvo for lawyers
Perhaps you could say to him that Avvo has domain authority of 81, SuperLawyers also domain authority of 81 and Justia domain authority of 76. We could get similar high domain authority links by donating $2500 to the ballet, symphony and animal rescue. What would you like to do?

RE: Realistic expectations to increase domain authority
You've left off a very important fact.
Are you trying to go from 0 to 20 or from 20 to 40. The time required is completely different.

RE: How do I rank inside the knowledge panel in the "people also search for" section?
What an interesting question. I hope someone has the answer.
It has always seemed to me that the businesses I've seen there have been prominent and I've suspected that they get a lot of branded searches.

RE: Client Wants To Use A .io Domain Name - How Bad For Organic?
How much does he plan to spend on marketing to reinforce his brand? I believe .io will rank on Google just as easily as .net .info .us etc. but how much will it take to rank in their customer's brain? I have a .us and 7.5 years later I still have to reinforce the domain when I am talking to a client. It's like trying to get a client to say chartreuse instead of lime green.

RE: .com or other TLD?
Dot Com!
When I started my business 7.5 years ago, the dot com was unavailable so I went with dot us. Since then I have had to repeat the phrase "that's dot us, not dot com" several thousand times. When I don't receive a promised email, and I call to follow up, they frequently have sent it to dot com.
In the SERPS it doesn't matter. I dominate, but I think I would have picked a different url if I'd realized how hard it was for the average consumer to remember. And my clients are biz people!
