Internal linking question
-
How important is internal linking from body content?
If you have 500 words of content on each page is it good practise to try and get a few links in to other pages?
Surely if you do this your pass more juice out of the page, which might lead to devaluing the page in the SE's.

linking in content with hyperlinks gets clicked more than images or buttons, and if it is relevant it will help get users to convert or go to the pages you want them to visit, while also helping your SEO by creating better anchor texts than you can achieve by simply breadcrumbs.
With breadcrumbs you will be creating tons of links with the same anchor text on every page and it's not in content. so if "whole life insurance" is your main keyword for instance the breadcrumbs will only target that. But in your content you have the ability (and this is very important to do now to avoid over optimization penalties) to mix up your anchor text with variations such as "whole life insurance quotes" "whole life insurance policies" "what is whole life insurance" etc.

It is important to internal link with your content.
One, like Nikolas said, it will help improve your pages for search engine and it helps search engines crawl your other pages with fewer clicks. Furthermore, with a detailed anchor text, it tells search engines what the linked page is about.
Two, it also helps visitors to navigate your site easier, increase your other pages' exposure and keep visitors to stay on site longer.

My answer is only relevant for internal links of course, otherwise Nikolas is on point

Use breadcrumbs, in that way all of your content will be reached through internal links. I know that it sound easy and it really is.
With breadcrumbs you will get a link back to the previous page and from there the other pages, important to notice is that it's important that you have your content organized in a relevant way so that the breadcrumbs actually goes back to a relevant page for the topic.
See fictional example below where you are on a landning page with little content
Car dealer startpage -> Used cars -> Model-> car
Car dealer startpage -> New cars -> model -> car
The breadcrumbs will make sense and also improve the usability of the site.

If you place links from inside your content to another page-pages that are relevant to the topic, it might increase both pages in the search engines. For sure it will not devalue your pages juice unless the page you are linking to is spam.

SEO question about lots of outbound links
I'm considering adding a directory page to one of my websites that lists local groups from all around the world. I haven't kept up with SEO in a long time, but I recall (many) years ago that having a lot of outgoing links and very few (if any) inbound connections was a terrible thing. Is this still the case, or have search engine algorithms figured out that this can be beneficial to site visitors? What effect will adding a page like this have on my SEO?

Internal Links - First Link Rule Confusion
Hello All - I would like to create a guide for my team of rules for internal links and I could use some help. My understanding is that Google only counts the first link to a page, so any crafted keyword text links within the content do not count if the page in question is linked to from the main navigation. Is this correct? For example, if the menu or drop down menu in main site nav (which exists on all pages of the site) includes a link to a particular section that will be the only one that ever counts since the menu is on every page? Example: let's say a website selling cat toys includes a drop down menu on the homepage with links to "holiday cat toys". Does this mean that no other text links in content on the site will support that page from an SEO perspective since the link is in the main nav and will always be the first one counted? In the past we have added text links in the content on the homepage to important pages on the site. It seems to work, though now I'm questing these tactics based on the first link rule. I would appreciate some advice, clarification, thoughts, etc. Thanks!

Internal Linking and Related Search
Hi there, Is it a bad idea to use Google related terms when creating internal links? For instance, if I search for 'printing companies chicago', there are at least 3 terms related to our organization and what we provide that appear at the bottom of the search results. Searches related to printing companies chicago reliable printing companies chicago

chicago printers Just curious if anyone uses this type of research to build out pages? And create internal links? Personally, I am seeing people search for services we offer in different ways - that alone makes me think it should be a major part of our internal linking. Looking forward to your feedback!0 -
When pitching a whitepaper as Push Content for Link Building, is it ok to give the person I'm pitching a link to a landing page with a form on it?
When pitching a whitepaper as Push Content for Link Building (i.e. pushing out content that my client has created), is it ok to give the person I'm pitching a link to a landing page with a form on it? Or should I create a landing page with the whitepaper included on it? I’m not sure if the client will be ok with this b/c I know they use the whitepaper for sales purposes to gain leads. For example, my pitch email would include a line such as this, "the whitepaper can be found at LINK and I'd love if you could share it with your readers." I think it may be weird/a little wrong to ask a webmaster to include a link on his site to a landing page with a form to get the whitepaper. Does this make sense? What have others done with whitepapers as Push Content for link building?

How to have an internal call to action with an anchor that employs the correct internal linking practices?
I wanted to put a call to action in my internal profiles, but I'm not able to get out of the classic "check out" and "learn more" links. Right now the best copy I've been able to come up with is: <nickname>is using StyleJam for his web design portfolio - check out the benefits </nickname> Where "check out the benefits" is a link to my home page. I wanted to understand first of all how important this is, and second what techniques you use for internal calls to action. TIA.

What link would be better?
Okay, I found a niche blog that has a google PR6. They have a ton of dollow blogroll links, as well as a ton of internal links on homepage. Would I be better off getting the blogroll link? Getting a link in an existing post with a lower PR? Getting an advertiorial written with a link in it? I just don't know. It has a domain authority of 33 currently. It's not a cheap link for blogroll. The in-post, or advertorial isn't too bad, but not cheap either. Thanks in advance.
