OSE vs google webmaster link data
-
Hiya experts,
I am trying to understand the OSE. One thing I noticed is that OSE shows 12 linking root domains to our site. However, google webmasters show more than 90(that have kinks to pages on our site). And these are not new links, some of these date back to Apr 2011.
Is there something very obvious I am missing here?
Thanks for your help.
Regards,
Raman.

Ya you can better see where all of the links are coming from and their info, whether they are "follow" or "nofollow", more data, etc.
-
Thanks Ryan. I will give these a go as well.
Regards.

Bing Webmaster Tools is a great and often overlooked tool.Otherwise Majestic and AHREFs are both good as well.
I use all 5 tools together to create backlink reports.
-
Thanks Joe. Please pardon my ignorance, but what does " full link profile" mean? Is the the DA/PA/anchor text etc.?
-
Thanks Ryan. What other good backlink tools would you suggest beside ose?
-
I always look to Webmaster Tools for new links (they show up there before OSE), and OSE for more detailed information and full link profiles. Sometimes it takes OSE months to show your links, especially if it's a newer site.

You should not expect OSE to match Google.
Google is a company that generates ten billion in search revenue a quarter. OSE and Majestic are the two best crawlers not owned by a search engine, and neither company earns even 1% of what Google does, so their crawlers cannot compete.
With that said, Google does not share all of its data either. If you want the most comprehensive link data, it is best to use numerous backlink tools and combine the data.

Get into Google : New Sites
I have a brand new website. It was created 10 days ago. How long would it take for it to show up in search results? I understand that since the site is new, there are no sites sending it backlinks. Also, i have optimized the page for my keyword "xyz" and it received an A grade. The site does not figure even in the top 50 results. Please help me out. It is a one page web application that needs to drive traffic to survive.

In my crawl diagnostics, there are links to duplicate content. How can I track down where these links originated in?
How can I find out how SEOMOz found these links to begin with? That would help fix the issue. Where's the source page where the link was first encountered listed at?

Find pages containing broken links.
hi everyone, for each internal broken links I need to find all the pages that contain it. In the Seomoz report there is only a refferer link for each broken link, but google webmaster tools indicates that the dead link is present in many pages of the site. there is a way to have these data with SEOmoz or other software, in a csv report ? thanks

Y!SE and OSE
Hi So now when Y!SE is closed im trying to find alternative, so im trying OSE basically i like the data that it showed to me but the numbers is unbelievable different. Im used Y!SE about 1 year so i have statistic for a year. Previous month for my client homepage i have 2625 total external links and now OSE reports me only 1558, for the main category page was 16 now 68\. Most strange for me is total external links for root domain on Y!SE its always been around 6-7k but now OSE reports me 10,053. So my question why numbers so different can it be that the Y!SE don`t update for several month there data or some others reason? Thanks, Sergey

Reg. internal followed links
Our site is new. So far we have a 534 pages. Our competitors have around 5000. I'm working on building more, but that's a lot of catching up. The report says we have only 174 internal followed links. Why is that? I have all links set in the site to be nofollow links, but not the inside links. I also have lots of landing pages, which are not added to the main menu, obviously. But the the main menu shows up on all landing pages. Just wondering if either the nofollow has anything to do with it or the landing pages set up, or the numbers are accurate. Any ideas? Thanks!

Historical Linkscape/OSE data available?
Hey Mozzerati, I'm curious if there's a way to expose and analyze historical data from each previous Linkscape/OpenSiteExplorer (OSE) update. Essentially, I'm looking for something similar to MajesticSEO's Backlink History tool that can show you both daily links over a short time as well as cumulative links over a long period. I think the utility of such a tool is to see which competitors have gained many links over a short period, signalling that they're engaging in some form of link-building/-buying/-baiting activity. Is there any way to yield this data (other than to record it manually after each Linkscape/OSE update) from SEOmoz PRO tools?
