I use a CDN
-
Hi there
my sitemap is @ www.mobbly.com/sitemap.xml and images are stored on cdn.mobbly.com
I have verified cdn.mobbly.com but as there is no sitemap apart from mobbly.com/sitemap.xml
google has 3000 images in sitemap but only 289 indexed - was all when all were on the same domain
any advice would be good

Hi guys,
I came across this plug-in yesterday and found it very useful for images and thought you may want to incorporate it into your site. I put into my site yesterday it allows me to add alt text,
I love the that I can add the height and width as Cyrus recommended link states it really speeds up downloads Especially with a lot of images per page it can mean a significant speed difference.
I use it to get credits and link's to my photographs and videos and with you having so many photos on your site I thought you may want to get credit when people copy them or link back to your website is better than simply getting credit you can do that with this plug-in.
it said it's mainly designed for info graphs however can be used on all images including video and regular photographs.
Here's the link
http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/embed-code-generator/
here's what it does to put a photo at the bottom as well
Embed Code Generator Fields
Source (URL)
- The full URL to the image.Link Image To
- This is where the image will link to when placed on another site.Title (optional)
- When populated, adds in the "title" attribute of the img tag.Alt Attribute (optional)
- When populated, adds in the "alt" attribute of the img tag.Width (optional)
- Designate the width of the image.Height (optional)
- Designate the height of the image.Courtesy of [Your Site Name] (optional)
- When populated, will display a courtesy link after the image crediting the source of the image.Courtesy of [Your Site URL] (optional)
- If this and the "Courtesy of [Your Site Name]" are populated, a link will be provided to the source of the image.
Here's Is the article where I found the plug-in if you care to read about it.

Hi Cyrus and Jimmy,
I got a 404 as well when checking mobbly.com/sitemap.xml just now Jimmy did you disable or delete a sitemap plugin?
I looked that your websites source code and searched for "sitemap" "site" & "xml" all I found was
http://www.mobbly.com/wp-includes/wlwmanifest.xml
which I found is a plug-in for "Discovering and Downloading Manifest Files"
it's talked about more in this link
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb463263.aspx
if I were you I would flush your cache install one of the plug-ins listed above one for the regular site map and an additional just for images. Or WordPressSEO would hopefully work in that situation as a all-in-one solution giving you a sitemap_index.xml however I do recommend regardless of what you pick getting a working site map up there and running it through Google Webmaster tools.
Cyrus,
I completely agree Alt text needs to be used for Google to find an image.
I want to thank you endorsing my comment I really appreciate it.
Respectfully,
Thomas Zickell

Hi Jimmy,
I get a 404 when visiting the URL you gave for a sitemap http://www.mobbly.com/sitemap.xml
Is this correct?
Unfortuneatly, it's pretty common for Google not to index all of your images. It really depends on several factors - the uniqueness of the image, the authority of the page, how prominant the image is, the alt text associate with the image, etc.
Here's a good article about getting more bang from your buck with images - http://www.wordstream.com/blog/ws/2013/01/23/google-image-search-traffic

when you use the site map you don't have to worry about the subdomain CDN.mobbly.com needing a site map it simply is a place where your photos are being held until their downloaded and viewed.
I know you're using rack space and apparently rack space files so don't worry about them needing a 2nd CDN only sitemap
all you need is a regular site map I would use this http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/google-sitemap-generator/screenshots/
along with
http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/udinra-all-image-sitemap/
or
http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/image-xml-sitemap-generator/screenshots/
you can also use
http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wordpress-seo/
this will create an index site map giving you everything hopefully. If it does not work as intended which sometimes happens you can turn off the site map and WordPress SEO and continue to use the other site maps safely just don't use them all at once you can add images to a nonimage but not WordPress Seo site map on and the other site maps on okay?

hi,
the issue is you do not have the right plug-in. Certain plug-ins are better at images than others I would use
rom WordPress dashboard sidebar and select "Image Sitemap generate" Click the "Generate Sitemap" button to create your XML Sitemap.
http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/udinra-all-image-sitemap/
or
http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/image-xml-sitemap-generator/screenshots/
each has the power to build a full image site map I hope I've helped

What is your take on using Google images for blogs
In your opinion, do you think it is okay to use Google images for your blog posts as long as it credits or includes a link to the site in which you located it? We tried looking at stock art for some license-free photos and had no luck in coming up with good pictures. What rules or guidelines do you follow when looking for pictures for your customers blog (or your own)? A lot of our posts have to do with "what to do in this city" or "Where to go in this city". Do you think it's okay to use Google images for these types of posts?

Does using Articlebase articles on your site push your rank down?
Hello All, I launched a website (www.hrpayrollsystems.net) last year. I'm very new to the SEO world so I'm still seeing what works and what doesn't. We recently republished some articles from articlebase.com that I think may have hurt us in SEO. Does Google see our site as having duplicate content and then penalize us? Our top keyword isn't even ranking anymore when I put it in the sites that tell you where you show up. Help!

Use Of H1 Tags
I just have a quick question. I have seen a few people mention that the use of more than 1 H1 tag has little bearing on things. I am trying to sort out a site for a friend and it has 2 H1 tags. My issue is that it is ranking for a quite competitive keyword (don't know how as the whole site layout is a total mess) but in my efforts to clean up the site I am wondering if I should actually reduce the No of H1 Tags to 1 or leave 'as is' for fear of breaking something. Thanks Paul

If we use content copied from another site ( assuming we have not plagerized), does it hurt our Google Rankings?
We have permission from another company to copy their content and use it on our site. This happens when we are describing a manufacturer's product and we copy pages from their site and add these pages to our site in order to describe the product we are selling. Is this considered duplicate content? Can this practice hurt us?

Can you use creative commons non-commercial images on a company blog?
Does anyone know if it is okay to use creative commons images on your company blog if they are under the Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivs 2.0 Generic license. Technically you are using it on a commercial site, but you are not directly making money from the image or selling it.

Posting youtube videos on your site-use irframe or "old embed code"
If you choose "embed" now, youtube gives you the choice of using an iframe: <iframe width="430" height="352" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/0-nKXALtHWs?rel=0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen=""></iframe> or, the old embed code: <object width="430" height="352"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/0-nKXALtHWs?version=3&hl=en_US&rel=0"><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/0-nKXALtHWs?version=3&hl=en_US&rel=0" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="430" height="352" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true"></object> Is either better when it comes to seo?

Using testimonials to build quality content
I don't see a lot of talk on here about using testimonials to build good content. From what I have seen, the search engines love client testimonials. I haven't found a good service provider for this yet. I'm thinking something combined with Twitter or FB that also allows you to show the content on your site would be great. Can anyone recommend a service like this? I'm checking out a service called, "Quick Vouch" but I haven't tested it yet.

Using own domain for Google blog
Is it worth the effort using your own domain for a Google blog? After adding my own domain to a blog I see a boost in ranking, maybe the url has more value without the blogspot extension, or that Google might treat the (max.10) pages you produce under your own domain as "independent" thus giving you the chance of building your own domain trust...?
