SEO for EMD
-
Hi,
I bought ForSaleInAZ.com for my real estate website. Google Keyword Tool estimate 301k local searches for that term. I would like to capitalize on this by building this site with good content.
My question to you, besides the search being the URL, what is the best practice to specifically promote the "For Sale In AZ" phrase? Should it be in the Page Title, Meta Description, Content H1 & H2 tags, Image tag? Or, is it being in the URL good enough...so all I have to do is build good content?
I understand not to over do it but I could use your advice. Can you please give me some suggestions/ guidelines to follow specifically to my EMD?
SEO Expertise Level: I am comfortable and have the decent understanding but, by no means, an expert!
Thanks,
Carl

yup. try it again be selecting "exact match" in the left hand side of the Google keyword tool and you'll see something more like 60 or so instead of 301k sorry to say. I haven't looked it up but i can tell you almost no one is searching for that.
anyway what is for sale in AZ, you are real estate so "real estate" might be your main target not "for sale" but you'll have a hard time getting an EMD for realestate location domain names, so you might want to go with branding + keyword.

Hi Carl,
Your content is going to be key, as with all websites. You may get a slight boost from your URL being an EMD but Google is slowly losing that as a ranking factor.
As long as you produce unique, valuable content that is informative and worth while to the user then you should have no real problems. Don't overdo the placement of your keywords in every single spot you can find on your site, if it is relevant then put it in your heading tags, image tags etc.
To summarise:
I would tackle this exactly the same was as a non EMD.
A quote I like to use as a guide for my own work - 'To rank #1 for a keyword, you must deserve to be above all other relevant sites; you must own the best piece of relevant content on the web.'

"for sale in arizona" at 301K is broadmatch.
So, this niche might not be as rich as you expect.... and conversions using that query - even if combined with "homes" or "houses" or "real estate" is going to be really low.
Do you really want to target this?

Is Wix still terrible for SEO?
In Australia, I hear it over and over again that Wix is literally the worst site builder you can use due to it's poor site build for SEO. Has anyone here got some tangible reasons for why this is? As I am constantly getting asked this by clients who are using Wix and want me to help with their SEO.

Is there some reputed company/person which can fix the SEO issues for me?
One of my websites http://forum32.com/ was ruling the roost shortly after it launched. We cover BTS (behind the scenes) etc of the TV shows that my production company makes. But then it all went downhill. I do understand that my readership fluctuates with the number of shows I am doing and therefore covering but for a show like "Qubool Hai" which has been running for the past 3 years and we do almost two posts about it - we rank nowhere. Could posting about this "too much" be a problem? Anyway I have been breaking my head over this for the past six months and spent a lot of time trying to set this right but: 1. I am running out of time as I am about to start directing another show. 2. I am not even sure if what I am doing is right! Can any person/company Which is well trusted help me out of this situation? Everything I've read is rumor-mill...anybody have experience or references? Thanks in advance!

ECommerce Filtering Affect on SEO
I'm building an eCommerce website which has an advanced filter on the left hand side of the category pages. It allows users to tick boxes for colours, sizes, materials, and so on. When they've made their choices they submit (this will likely be an AJAX thing in a future release, but isn't at time of writing). The new filtered page has a new URL, which is made up of the IDs of the filter's they've ticked - it's a bit like /department/2/17-7-4/10/ My concern is that the filtered pages are, on the most part, going to be the same as the parent. Which may lead to duplicate content. My other concern is that these two URLs would lead to the exact same page (although the system would never generate the 'wrong' URL) /department/2/17-7-4/10/ /department/2/**10/**17-7-4/ But I can't think of a way of canonicalising that automatically. Tricky. So the meat of the question is this: should I worry about this causing issues with the SEO - or can I have trust in Google to work it out?

SEO Change/Version Control
Hi. Can anyone suggest apps that might be applied for SEO change/version control? I've tried using Excel and Word in the past but both fall short when dealing with multiple client sites. Nothing suitable pops up so far. Specifically I want to be able to log any on-page changes that might impact SEO for historical analysis and possible roll-back (manual) eg change date, page title, headings, url, anchor text, alt image txt, body copy etc. The ability to have one view that can be filtered in various ways including by client and by url would be ideal. Maybe this is something SEOmoz is considering for Pro campaign management? Surely there's demand... Thanks Andy
