Anyone have experience with AdTaxi for link building services?
-
Recently a client of ours received a proposal from a local newspaper for search related services, including link building. I believe the name of the company the paper is working with for some of these services is AdTaxi, which i had not heard of before. Anyone have experience with these guys from a link building standpoint?
I know that here we are more "do it yourselfers" and for the most part, we handle all of the on-page and technical SEO for our client's sites, but link building as a dedicated service isn't something we have the resources to offer so I'm just looking to do some research.
Thank you!

AdTaxi's SEO solutions adhere to Google’s best practices for building links. Currently, the Google algorithm is based on Onsite SEO as well as Offsite Link Building metrics related to sites. AdTaxi adheres to building links from a white hat perspective and focus on traditional (directory & 411 style links) and social signal (social media style links) to aid our customers with their SEO campaigns.
The key to link building in our opinion is to ensure our clients have the most diversified set of links pointing to their site with a multitude of anchor texts pointing to different pages of our clients sites. Good content helps but it can only drive so many visitors to ones site when comparing it to a strategy that encompasses both onsite (site architecture and content) and offsite (link building) SEO tactics.

Yeah, totally agree. See it as a real nose to the grindstone, call and email folks to pitch content (almost a PR effort).

Thanks guys, this is helpful!

Thanks so much Tom. Ironically, in a proposal they submitted they called out not having a XML sitemap on this clients small content site (that has pretty structured/easy to follow navigation paths for pages).

Link building needs to be one offs and done by someone who has encountered and lifted penalties already. I would stay clear from link building companies, they are likely to bring your site down.

I've not come across them before, nor really heard of them, so can't offer much insight there. I believe that this may be the URL? (Not linking directly, just in case):
First glance is that the site doesn't look too professional - for instance some of the text in the boxes is way out. Similarly, I can't see a meta description or XML sitemap. These are things that I'd expect any digital marketing agency to have implemented, if I'm honest.
I also like to look at testimonials and look at the link profiles of those sites, as they're pretty much an example of the company's work, but I'm drawing a blank on this too. Their own link profile looks pretty clean, nothing extraordinary however.
My gut says to stay clear, as there's not a lot of information on them that I can find. But by all means give them a call - could just be that they're only getting their site together very recently, and so it's not really fair to judge them solely on that. See what they say on the phone and try to go LinkedIn stalking from some people that work there - have a look at their previous experience.

Be weary of link building services in this day and age. With Google getting smarter and smarter, they are looking for links built through quality content and conversations. Not companies using automated tools and directory submissions. I would ask for some reports they deliver to other companies to see what types of links they focus on. If they aren't generating new quality content as a core method for building links, I would personally stay away.
Hope that helps!

Zen and the art of link building.
If I understood correctly MozTrust measure the trust of a website, so getting a backlink from a website with a high MozTrust is generally better than getting a backlink from a website with a lower MozTrust, correct? I also saw a loose correlation between MozTrust and Majestic TrustFlow; in general if I take a list of websites and I order them by MozTrust or TrustFlow I get a somehow similar list, even if there's jumps here and there and the positions are not always the same. This reinforce my belief is better to have backlinks from website with high MozTrust (and high TrustFlow). I also understood Domain Authority is, instead, a measure of the potential ranking of a website. So, the two are measuring things which are different, MozTrust is telling you how good it is to get a link from a certain website, DA is telling you how much probable it is to rank well for that website. While hunting for backlinks and trying to figure out what is the best place to get one, I also use a third metric, the number of TOP20 positions for the website. I am doing this on a pure empirical basis, because in my little experience I saw much better results with backlinks when the the linking domain had a lot of positions in TOP20. If I got everything correctly, I would expect a correlation between all these factors. If a website has a high DA I would expect it to rank well and have a lot of TOP20 positions, also backlinks from that website should be worth something. But then... I have found a bunch of websites with a high DA, like 40/50/60, with incredibly small amount of TOP20 positions, like 5 or 10 or 50, and with a respectable MozTrust. And also I saw excellent results with backlinks from websites with 50k TOP20 position and a low DA and a low MozTrust and negligible results with backlinks from websites with a high DA/MozTrust but little or none TOP20 positions. What is your experience? As anyone an explanation of why DA/MozTrust/TrustFlow doesn't match with the count of SERP top postions? Am I getting too geeky?

Do you have PA and DA minimums for link building outreach?
Hi all! I'm putting together a list of sites I want to attack for link building. I'm looking at my competitors while also seeking specific sites I know would work well to link to us. My question is, since this is very time-consuming, do you have a minimum PA and/or DA that you require in order to perform manual link-building outreach. For example, if a site has a DA below X and PA below X, what would X have to be for you to not consider it worth your time. I'm just trying to gauge where my efforts will be best spent and trying to get some benchmarks. Thanks!

When is link building an SEO priority? (vs. something else)
I'm considering hiring an SEO vendor for link building, and assessing whether or not my website really needs link building, vs. another SEO priority (for instance, I KNOW there's an opportunity for local SEO). What factors should I look at to determine if link building is a high priority? Should I just compare the number links my site has with competitors, using a tool like Open Site Explorer?

To hire a link building company.... or not?
I am doing a lot of the niche partnership link building but I am looking for a company to compliment some of my work in other related areas. Need some advice from the group. A couple of questions: 1. I'm looking for a company to acquire around 20-30 links per month. Not talking about easy directories or social links, but good (PR 3+) sites that are somewhat related to my business. Is that a reasonable request? 2. What should I expect to pay for this each month? 3. Any good suggestions on companies in the US. I am a small startup with a fairly limited budget, at least for now? Thanks everyone!
