Google authorship works on posts, but not on root domain.
-
When I check Google authorship via the tool Google provides, it says I am confirmed for individual posts, but not for my root domain.
I’m using WordPress, and individual posts are fine, but not the blog as a whole. I am the only author… and have given it a week, thinking perhaps it needed time... but no luck.
Any suggestions?
Thank you!!

Hi Andy, do you mean that you linked your website back to your personal Google+ profile with Rel=Publisher, and successfully verified it? I'm asking because I haven't heard of this actually working, as Google states Rel=Publisher is for brands, and Rel=Author is for, well, authors. I have only seen Rel=Publisher successfully used to associate a Google+ Page with a website, and Rel=Author successfully used to associate an author's content (on various websites/blogs) with their personal Google+ profile. Looking forward to hearing more about this from you! Thanks, Christy

same as with author, you just change ?rel=author to ?rel=publisher and it should be one very page of site as opposed to just articles/blogs with author.
If you are using wordpress and don't fancy editing your theme take a look at Yoast SEO
or use the badge option

Forgive me if this is a stupid question-- can you tell me how to set myself up as publisher?
I looked in my WordPress dashboard, but don’t see that option anywhere?
For what it’s worth, I see quite a few other bloggers whose root domain, when googled, returns a photo... I asked around, but either their designer is in charge, or I don’t get a response…
Thank you so much!!

I could be wrong on this, but its how I got it to work.
On all pages you should be validated as the publisher (assuming it's your site). and then within each post you are the author.
Tools like Yoast SEO Plugin are great at this kind of thing, as long as you are the sole contributor. Otherwise just add a link to G+ in each bio on a post ending ?rel=author - jobs a good en

I haven't found many people who have actually figured out how to make this work since home doesn't have the same author info as a post.
Search Yoast.com - they have an option to have a homepage author in their plugin but even his site doesn't show a snippet photo when you search the domain. Neither does Copyblogger or ProBlogger.net. I have tried a few different things on my own WP sites and nothing seems to make Authorship work for them.
Have you tried manually adding the author tag just to that page? And let the plugins and such handle the posts/pages?

Multiple Domains with the same Products
Hi, I have a client with three companies selling the same products on each. Two brand sites and One which shares all the products. Currently, they are all using the same description and imagery. How damaging will this be for duplicate content? Thanks, Ashleigh

What are the effects of posting on a blog site using copied content from your site if you source the site on the blog site?
I have noticed that some of my pages from my site are posted to different blog sites and directory submissions they are word for word what is on my site but at the bottom of the page it does list my site as the source and there are links in the text back to my site. Is this going to negatively effect my rankings or is it ok since my site is sourced in the article?

Writing on 2 Very Separate Topics. Will Authorship Be Affected?
Hi guys, During the day I'm a PPC and SEO associate at a software company that provides merchant accounts and payment processing for small business owners. Think PayPal meets Quickbooks. For this job, I write lots of content on payment processing, merchant accounts, the benefits of ACH transfers, etc. However, during the evenings, I work on my side-business, which is a fitness marketing company. For this site I'm doing lots of content production based on increasing gym membership, crossfit marketing, etc. I'm getting authorship for all of the posts I'm writing (my image is showing up in SERPs). Do you guys think there is any adverse effects to having authorship on content that is so drastically different? Will Google punish us for having 50% of my posts are about merchant accounts and the other 50% are about fitness marketing? Thanks!

Is it possible to over create/post content?
My company has signed up with a vendor to help write content. They are going to be supplying 50 articles per month so we'd basically be adding 2 or more articles per day. Is that too much or is that okay as long as it's quality content?

Google still caching old site
Hi all, We just acquired a new domain that was being squatted on by a reseller for a very long time and on the 5th June migrated our site over to it, replacing their advertising holding page. The domain is http://primate.co.uk It's been a week now though and Google hasn't seemed to have updated it's cache. Doing a search for 'primate.co.uk' in Google lists the site but with the old holding page description. Web master tools doesn't report any errors or issues with the site. Does anyone know how we can get Google to index the domain and update it's cache? Cheers, Gordon

Google News Sitemaps
I've noticed that Google News has withdrawn the necessity for there to be a minimum of 3 numerical digits in the URL if you submit the content via a new sitemap. Is this 100% correct? I'm working on a site rebuild for a client that is where submission to Google News will be instrumental in their strategy. Are there are difference between UK and US submission as this is UK based?

Do Older Post Dates Affect Click Throughs From Google ?
My Blog Entries appear in Google with a date, do those dates matter ? Will people stay away from an older date, say 2009 ? Is it worth removing the dates ? Or should I update the entry and change published date ?
