I want to blog (but where?)
-
Hello,
I would like to create a blog but i do know where. The options are to create a blog on a platform like blogspot or wordpress or make a 'blog' section to my website - travel content.
Which do you think is the best?
If I create it in my website, would that boost my ranking or authority?
Thank you!!!!

Well people, thank you for your responses!
It is gonna be under my domain in a blog section in my website!
Thanks!

IS this for business or for personal blogging?
For business I would look into WordPress.org with your own domain. There are tons on resources on how to do this and hosting plus buying a domain is fairly cheap.
For a personal blog I would use wordpress.com especially if your just starting out and your not sure how often you want to actually blog. I would also consider the above as you will have full control of everything!
Let us know which way you go!

+1 to Brad here.
Personally I would do both. Have a blog relative to your site's content with great information that readers will want to link to on your website. That is a wonderful way to build links organically and if you do it right (some great infographics or unique perspectives) you will really take off.
But make another blog as well for the more redundant blogs and other content that may not fit quite as well. Wordpress is a great free blog site and there is plenty of value to doing that as well.
Anyway Brad's advice is spot on. Good luck

Thank you Brad.
Your answer is very enlightening!

If you have the option, it's best to start a blog on your own domain - e.g. www.example.com/blog.
I would stray away from hosting a blog elsewhere for your business because each of those would probably need its own SEO strategy. Also, having a blog as an extension of your own domain will allow it to benefit from the domain authority and link juice of your main site.

I think it depends on what your goals are. I own an ecommerce site with a blog but also own are large network of design & development blogs. Merely having a blog on your site won't help anything. However, if you are going to product quality content on that blog that relates to the topic of your site then it can be very effective for building links. High quality video, infographics, etc have proven to be good for grabbing some links. They are easy for media/bloggers to promote. If your goal is more along the lines of "I want a blog to see if I can gain readership or ad revenues" then I would probably start something. Blogs that are attached to existing brands don't do as well from a perception standpoint. Users will tend to thing you are just trying to beef up your existing brand. On the other hand, a stand alone "brand" for your blog will be free of any perception like that. If you producing quality content on the site then over time it will have an opportunity to take off. One other thought. You might consider making a small acquisition of someone in the travel space. Getting the initial traffic to work with could prove to be the hardest part. There are probably thousands of little travel blogs out there you could buy up for 5-10k that already have some content and some earnings. Hope this helps. Let me know if you have any followup.

which site?

look at this site. They blog, a lot. It's probably getting them the most leads/sales since the content gets passed and linked to alot. So yes, I would highly suggest that you start your own site and do it there. Then start promoting it

Manual submission vs automated submission to social bookmarking sites for blog posts
Howdy Mozzers! Say we're creating great content on our blog and would like this content to be seen and shared by as many people possible. Should we submit our blog posts manually to social book marking sites or use an automated service like Only Wire? The advantage of using automation is obvious, saves time on submission. Are there disadvantages? Is google bot going to raise an eyebrow and give us a dirty look? Cheers! MozAddict

Opinions/advice on Blog posts please
I'm an intern at an Accounts Software Company. I'm doing SEO for them. As part of this I've recently started blogging. I'm doing this in an effort to increase traffic to the blog, and try to shift content focus away from Startup Methodology and increase focus on the product..I've had some success with it, in terms of increased Domain Authority and keyword ranking. At the same time, Keyword ranking can suddenly drop for some keywords, closely related to the ones I'm trying to rank for. The further difficulty is, that nobody wants to read about Accounting subjects. I've tried to make my posts as interesting and as valuable as possible.I'm still having trouble gauging whether I'm going about things the right way. Please take a look at some of the posts I've done. If anyone had any critique/advice I'd really appreciate it.. Here it is: http://www.bullethq.com/blog/category/accounts/

SEO wise - what is the impact of Avatar on a blog
Hi all, At the moment we are at the verge of building finally a blog. For SEO purpose I demanded that it would include social interactions with Google+, Facebook, Twitter, Youtube and some more. Especially Google+ for the authorship part. But now they come asking me if they can work with Gravatar http://www.gravatar.com/support/what-is-gravatar/ - a Globally Recognized Avatar. I never worked with it before and can't find anything if it will negatively impact SEO on authorship - but I'm still not sure. Does the Gravatar interfer with Google+ authorship?

I could find information about having to setup the author part in the Gravatar, but this doesn't give me the answer if this helps with Google+. If anybody has experience of can tell me / point me in the right direction it much appreciated. Or maybe having a better solutions than the Gravatar.0 -
Blog Sharing Options
We are currently evaluating a long list of blog promotion and sharing ideas for our website and wanted to ask some of the resident experts here. We post all of our blogs on our Facebook, Twitter, and Google+ pages, but would you suggest using any of these services for an internet marketing company? What would be the main purpose to using them? StumbleUpon Technorati Digg Reddit Tumblr Delicious Any missing from the list? Is there a list of great sites to ping through WordPress? I saw they provided a list on the http://codex.wordpress.org/Update_Services page. Is this good to use? Do we need to create accounts at all of those services first? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Blog posts copied to Facebook or Linked? Any Duplicate Content Issues?
I wasnt able to find any good answers on this. I have two separate ecommerce websites, one with a top level blog. (www.xyz.com/blog) and different website with a subdomain blog (blog.xyz.com)***note on the subdomain blog, although it links to our website. You cannot directly shop from it. Until i can make some sort of scraper, its what I have to work with. For quite some time now I have been copying the blog posts and re-creating them on facebook as a Note. Using the same anchor text/links on facebook as my blog post. Part of the issue is that I want the facebook pages to have some content and not just links. Both get 2-3 updates per week, 1 of those being a blog re-post. Does anyone know if google or bing considers this duplicate content? Should I simply link directly to the blog everytime, as a best practice? Any insight on this would be great. Thanks!

I want to upload one of my youtube videos to my Google+ Account.
I want to include videos from my youtube channel on Google+. Does this mean I have to save the video file on my PC at first and then upload it?

How effective is RSS feeds submission, links from Blog Directories?
I am wondering how effective rss feed submission (to RSS aggregators) is in terms of getting traffic and backlinks? Also, how about getting listed in blog directories? Do these tactics work anymore post Panda update ? Thanks, Supriya.
