Analytics: Goal Tracking
-
I am trying to track goals in Google Analytics for a website that has the same goal URL for main website and various sub-domains. The main domain for example is: mymaindomain.com and the sub-domain are my1st.subdomain.com, my2nd.subdomain.com, etc. but the Goal URL is same for all the sub-domains and main domain, i.e. mymaindomains.com/pay/thanks.html. I have Google Analytics configured to track domains and all sub-domains and I’ve already setup the goal for each sub-domain and even created the funnel as well for each sub-domain. However, in goal tracking, it always shows “0”.
I am also looking forward to get some help to set up an advanced filter so I can see traffic to my sub-domains in Analytics.
Thanks!

All I did was enter the full url string of my conversion page as a goal in GA and it seems to be working fine. Worth a test?

I'm having the same conundrum. Advice would be helpful!
Asking my SEO + Marketing firm... will report back with an answer.

Hi,
+1 this.
Here is the problem in a nutshell as it has not yet been answered:
For those of you with only one domain, it is easy to setup a goal and conversion funnel in GA for a Page URL goal. You simply type in your goal URL, starting with: / ... For example: /thankyou.html
But the problem then occurs when you have mydomain.com AND sub.mydomain.com.
You see, the goals don't work anymore because GA instructs you NOT to put the full URL.
Do you see the problem this creates? In other words, how do you track goals while also having domain and subdomain tracking?
I am having this problem. I have already read ALL the documentation on subdomain tracking - my reports are working just fine.
I have searched heavily in Google for this answer and have found nothing. Nevertheless, my goals still show 0 and I am 100% positive that I have had conversions.
Any advice?

OK I'll try that, cheers!

I don't think so, cross tracking is sometimes very hard... I'm not sure, but using searchtype "regular expression" and goal "shop.gardio.* "?? Will that work for you?
When you just want to know the % of visitors which went to shop.domain.com maybe Enhanced Link Attribution is also interesting: http://support.google.com/analytics/answer/2558867?hl=en&ref_topic=2558810
-
Thanks, yes I had been thru that guide already. Maybe it is just me being slow... But I still don't get how I write the goal URL. For example, our main site is at www.gardio.se and our shop at shop.gardio.se, and I want to set as a goal to measure the % of visitors that go into the shop. Normally I would put the goal URL to be just "/", but now that I have multiple subdomains, how do i write the goal URL?

Hi Sven,
This article will help you implementing cross (sub)domain tracking: https://developers.google.com/analytics/devguides/collection/gajs/gaTrackingSite
When you implement this well, you can use one goal url.
-
Olaf that article was really helpful! BUT does not explain how to write the URI for settings goals to measure goal conversion. Any idea?

Hi,
Could you share a screenshot on how you set up the goals at this moment? This would give us some insights to see where the problem could be. I've got a feeling but it makes no sense to sent you in the woods looking for something if it could be not there. So a screenshot of your goal setup/ funnel would be appreciated.
Thanks!

How to track B2B conversions when the searcher isn't the one who transacts?
Hi, Wondering if anyone can recommend how to track B2B conversions when the searcher isn't the one who transacts? I am looking at my Adwords campaigns and I don't think the conversion is 100% right. In our industry, the eventual end user (and the person who does the search) does not have the authority to purchase the product. It is usually the purchasing department who eventually get in contact and purchase the product. Sometimes it is another company on behalf of the original company who purchase the part as we might not be on the vendor list. So, in this case, the order goes from the original searcher to their purchasing department to another company who then purchase from us. Just wondering how to track this on AdWords? Thanks

Google Analytics Offline Conversions
Hi All, I've been searching the net for this for a while now and haven't found any suitable solutions. I'm looking at a way of importing conversions into Analytics. For a business I work with there is currently a split between Contact Form Submissions (we can track) Mobile Website Calls (we can track) Offline Calls (visit the website via AdWords and pickup the phone) We currently record all call data so we can see just how many calls we are getting from the campaign, and we take notes on keywords and time of call. So manually we can figure out the conversion rate. I was wondering if there was a way to mark certain visits as conversions manually? I'm pretty sure there isn't, but figured this would be the best place to ask! Thanks in advance!

Tracking Sales That Result From GA Trackable Leads?
I have a client who tracks leads via URL destination goal completions in Google Analytics - when a visitor hits their "quote form" thank you page, a "goal" is completed and thus a lead is tracked in GA. After that, none of the sales process is passed through to GA - The client enters data from form submissions into their CRM software, without any way of knowing which leads came specifically from PPC, email marketing, social, organic, etc., making determining true ROI impossible. We're wondering what the best way is to pass through the traffic source to our client, so they can attach it to the individual lead in their completely manual CRM. Mainly they care about CPC traffic. Any ideas?

AdWords/Analytics Paid Search conversions not matching up - any idea why?
Hi all, Any ideas as to why AdWords and Analytics are showing different Paid Search conversion numbers for me when I check on a daily basis? Both accounts are linked, they share the same destination URLs to trigger a conversion, some days each reflects the same amount of conversions, then some days it's anything from 1-5 conversions different (Analytics is always the one to show more). Thanks M

How to improve data analysis that come from the Analytics ?
Hello guys,
Paid Search Marketing | | WayneRooney
im manager the PPC campaign to the company that im working.
Its a t shirt printing company.
I know how PPC and how its work but im not an expert. So far the campaign is working and we getting clicks and and leads. But, i cant understand perfectly how to look at the information and decide whether the campaign works well. For example : What is considered a good conversion ratio?
What is considered a good conversion cost?
How do I get a final summary of how much i spent and how much was the income ? I add tracking code to the 2 main pages,
The page when they leave their information - The quote,
and the thank you - The payment page. The problem is, that we don't sale t shirts online, we are printing house so we cant know by the number of the peoples that
land the thank you page the value of the deal, its can be 10 shirts or 1000 shirts. Is there's a way to track all the information's but more accurately?
To know each lead that come to our system from where he came from ? Thank you very much for your help !!0 -
How Do I Track AdCenter Keyword Data in Google Analytics?
Like everyone else, I am looking for new ways to gather as much keyword data as I can in the wake of the dreaded (not provided) epidemic. This question focuses on keyword data from Paid Search. We all know this is very simple with AdWords because the data is right there in Google Analytics. MSN adCenter, however, is a different story as these parameters need to be added to the end of each destination URL. Here are the parameters I'm using: utm_source=Bing&utm_medium=cpc&utm_term={QueryString}&utm_content={AdID}&utm_campaign=Leads Everything is working well with the exception of {QueryString} which is returning nothing. I would really like to solve this issue because I do not have the time to add specific parameters for each keyword in all of my campaigns. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
