Help with Effective Meta Description

Can someone give me a sample of an effective meta description tag? All of the best practice stuff I read doesn't talk about how to raise CTR. It seems to me that this is a neglected area of SEO, and we want to do this right. Obviously, we will need to test.
For example, my main home page keyword is "IT Support"
Things I might want to put in the tag:
Free Network Assessments
100% Risk Free Trials
"Relentless IT Support" (Major Theme)
30 Years of Experience (since 1984)
Eliminate your IT Support Headaches Forever (Too long)
Call to action?

Here's an example of what I would create

Are you any good at what you?
How wil the prospective customer benefit form hiring you?
Do you have satisfied customers ?
Who is your target audience?
You need to hit as many of these crucial points as possible. It's hard! Writing meta descriptions is a bit like writing haiku.
Mentioning both the free assessment and free trial may be a mistake. It's a mixed message that is overly complicated.
Maybe something like:
Thousands of satisfied customers love our over- the- top IT support. Find out why during your free trial. May we delight you?
or:
With over 30 years experience, we delight customers with our over-the-top 24/7 IT support. Ask for a free trial today.

I prefer a short overview of what the page/company is all about with a call to action at the end. I also much prefer proper sentences and not bullet points or similar. Something like:
XXXXXX company has been offering trustworthy 24/7 IT support services since 1984. Contact us today for a free IT assessment and a 100% risk free trial.

Based on my experiences sentences work better, but need to match the query as close as possible. Also, it is essential to use the target kw as naturally as possible and include a CTA.

Hi Rahul,
Your meta needs to have a call to action in it as well as containing your main keyword for that page. In my experience, I would suggest having your call to action first and then a reason why they would want to visit your website.
For example, "Contact us today for your free IT assessment from a company with nearly 30 years experience".

Canoncial tag for Similar Product Descriptions on Woocommerce
I'm looking for advice on how to handle my product description pages for my website vinylabs.com. The website sells vinyl wrap for cars and each color of vinyl (89 variations) has it's own product page. The product descriptions will all be identical except for the color description and code. All of our competitors have an identical layout, different pages for each color, and it fits the product so I don't want to depart from featuring each color as it's own page. Here is my dilemma. I don't want to get penalized for duplicate content, however I do want individual color codes to be searchable on google. For example if you google 3M vinyl wrap M203 you'll get individual pages from the manufacturer and our competitors featuring just that color. I want our website to show up as well. I was thinking about creating a single page that has selectable colors and sizes and then using the canonical tag to point all of my individual color code pages to that single page. However won't that hurt the ability for my individual color code pages to show in search? None of my competitors are using the canonical tag to redirect to a different page. Any advice welcome! Please help with serp placment question?
We own discount banner printing and we are trying to rank 1 for pvc banners or vinyl banners and cannot understand for example how the below is correct, we did suffer a link penalty years ago but we fixed this and the domain has some good links (more and better quality than the sites above us) and cannot understand how we rank below most of the sites above us? Google not displaying meta description
Hi, one of my clients is receiving the following error in SERP - "A description of the page is not available because of this site's robots.txt". The site is built on WordPress and I realized that by default, the settings were checked to blocks bots from crawling the site. So, I turned it off, fixed robots.txt and submitted the sitemap again. Since, then it's been almost 10 days, the problem still exists. Can anyone tell me what should be done to fix it or if there's a way to get Google to recrawl the pages again.

Robots.txt help
Hi Moz Community, Google is indexing some developer pages from a previous website where I currently work: ddcblog.dev.examplewebsite.com/categories/sub-categories Was wondering how I include these in a robots.txt file so they no longer appear on Google. Can I do it under our homepage GWT account or do I have to have a separate account set up for these URL types? As always, your expertise is greatly appreciated, -Reed

Doing SEO for a Classifieds Website and need help
Hey All! I'm going to be doing SEO for a classifieds website (cars only). But I'm struggling to dream up an effective strategy. They have a reasonably popular blog that I could definitely use to publish content for link bait, and some opportunities for guest blogging. But in terms of straight up link building (think craigslist), I'm really at a loss as to where to start. Need help or explanation on my site!
My site has suffered greatly since the recent Google update. I have done everything as suggested. I have had all bad links removed over 2 months ago. I have lowered keyword density (not easy since the keyword is in our company name!). I have rewritten various content and bolstered our existing content. What gives? What can I do? As an example the keyword, "maysville plumber" - I rank about 40th for this keyword. The first three pages are filled with websites with literally NO content or no added value. Maysville is a town of about 1k residents - there is no competition. Before the update I was #1 for years on this particular keyword. And this is the case with 35 other cities (mostly small cities, but a few larger ones). Please help me understand or suggest what I can possibly do at this point. We have hundreds of pages of unique content on each and every page. We have zero duplicate content (I have ran tests and crawlers). We have no fishy links. I have not gotten any messages from google on Webmasters. PLEASE HELP!! I asked a similar question a little while back and fixed all of the suggestions. My site is www.akinsplumbing.net.
