Links from Instructables.com?

This is a silly newbie question. But will posting on www.instructables.com with some valuable content and url link back to my site help with "linking"?
Or do they put a no-follow on all links on their site?

I'm doing some experimenting with Instructables, and some profile links are no-follow. I don't know if it's because the accounts are new, or that you need to have a PRO account to get follow links ...

I have a pdf explaining, I will PM you, which should answer all those questions:
- Your link isn't hyperlinked - hence not a link, just text
- The link I have shown is a "nofollow"
- Link to member profile page is dofollow

Hi Michael,
I downloaded the seomoz tool bar which says it can check for nofollowed links.
When I tested it on this page: http://www.instructables.com/id/Make-a-Titanium-Ring/?comments=all#CHSFLAKHGH72CAL (one of the comments by J.R. YATES has two links in it) it did not show as a followed, or a no followed link.
When I click on link button from the seomoz tool bar and sort by "nofollow" (pink) and "follow" (green) the url link I put in the comments doesn't get highlighted either way. So I'm guessing that anything put in the comments section is not a link. Thoughts?

Not a silly question at all mate!
It appears there aren't any "nofollow" attribute links on members profile pages, I had a look at this one as an example: http://www.instructables.com/member/JonnyBGood/. I'm not sure if that is for all member profiles though.
I only had a little chance to look at articles and couldn't see any links so can't comment on if they are "nofollow" or not. I would recommend downloading a "nofollow" toolbar extension on either Chrome or Firefox, that way when ever you view any site all nofollow links have a red dotted-line show up around them so you can instantly see the dofollow and nofollow links. It is helpful not just from a link building perspective, but also to see how authority can be directed around pages.

Secure HTTP Change - No Links in WMT
Website was changed over to secure HTTP about twp months ago. Just looked in Google Webmaster Tools and it only shows about 8 inbound links. We did a permanent 301 redirect for all URLs. There are over 800 links according to Open Site Explorer. Is it just that they are showing only the HTTPS inbound links? Should I add the HTTPS version in WMT? Thanks for any assistance

Are bad links the reason for not ranking?
Hello Moz community. I'm looking here for some input from the experts on what could be wrong with a site I'm working on. The site is in Spanish, but I'm sure you'll get the idea. We want to rank the site first page on Google Mexico (www.google.com.mx) for the keyword "refacciones Audi" and some other brands (refacciones = replacement parts would probably be a good translation, just FYI). Now, our page hasn't been completely optimized, so in my mind it's OK not to be on first page yet. However, our main competitor is ranking first page for all the keywords we want to rank for, but when you check their site, you'll find there is hardly any content, no keywords are being used in their content, all pages have the exact same title and meta description, their catalog is in a completely different domain. In short, no SEO whatsoever. Looking at Moz data, our site has a DA of 26, while our competitor's has a 10. They have no external backlinks at all, while we have a few hundred. This leaves me scratching my head: how can a completely non-optimized site outrank us? I decided to check our backlink profile, and a previous SEO agency seems to have built MANY fake blogs with lots of backlinks with rich anchor text. Quite a big percentage of our backlinks are of this kind, so this is the only thing I can think can be affecting our ranking. Will disavowing be our solution? Link Anchor Text
When we have run a Open Site Explorer analysis on our own site, it says that for all our internal links the Link Anchor Text is 'Help with logging in' I am a bit confused as to why it shows that. That text does appear in the header of the page, but is not the first piece of text. Why is it happening on our site?

Paid outbound links - do they have juice?
Hi, A client is asking about a website that has a business model I don't normally work with - it's a site full of very informative articles - no harm there - and they are sponsored by companies who provide the service being discussed. Not really any harm there. But attached to the link is an outbound tracking device. The business model is pay per click. Has anyone had experience with this, specifically if larger search engines have picked up on this and filtered out those types of links to not count very much if at all? Thanks!

Internal Linking: Site-wide VS Content Links
I just watched this video in which Matt Cutts talks about the ancient 100 links per page limit. I often encounter websites which have massive navigation (elaborate main menu, side bar, footer, superfooter...etc) in addition to content area based links. My question is do you think Google passes votes (PageRank and anchor text) differently from template links such as navigation to the ones in the content area, if so have you done any testing to confirm?
