What are the pros and cons of having a single page website format?
-
I have a website www.capitolshine.com that is in a single page format (that scrolls to other page)What are the negative effects for crawling or tracking bounce rate, etc. Should I change to individual pages? Is there a way to do this without reprogramming the entire website?

What do you mean sent me a PM?
-
Yes that is just one thing following good SEO ethics. I've sent you a PM and if you need more help let me know.
-
Ok. I bit the bullet and went into word press myself. I found the drop down for "separate page" and I just selected Yes for each of my pages. Maybe this is all I need to do to resolve the issue?
-
problem is I'm not a programmer. All this is WAY above my head. And now I don't trust the person who was doing my programming. Any suggestions to pay for someone to fix this without paying an arm and a leg?

Install WordPress, and just create pages. WordPress is simplistic. Optimization is quite simple as well.
Redirects would only be needed if you have other links like capitolshine.com/carwashes or anything similar to that. But assuming your ONLY link is capitolshine.com, you do not need that.
WordPress.org to download it, but majority of host have one click installation. Let me know if you need more in depth of installing, but it is fairly simple.

How do I create these individual pages in Word Press? What do you mean by just do redirects?
-
You should definitely create individual pages.
As you mentioned crawling would be only that single page and nothing else. Every meta description and title would be limited and not allow you to target certain customers.
Tracking bounce rates you would not be able to see which page they are not interested in, thus you don't know where to focus on.
Additional pages are better, even if its only 5-6 pages, it makes it more organized. It makes it easier to manage the pages and would like drive a customer nuts scrolling if they don't know you can click to the areas.
You should even break it down to each service you provide, that would create more targeted customers maybe looking for car washes in ('city'). But keep a master pricelist as well...maybe master pricelist and they can click the service to view more in detail what you do on a SEO page.
On reprograming, if you don't have too much problems, you should switch to WordPress, its very easy to manage everything, just do redirects. You have one page so I assume it won't have much effect.

Over 40+ pages have been removed from the indexed and this page has been selected as the google preferred canonical.
Over 40+ pages have been removed from the indexed and this page has been selected as the google preferred canonical. https://studyplaces.com/about-us/ The pages affected by this include: https://studyplaces.com/50-best-college-party-songs-of-all-time-and-why-we-love-them/ https://studyplaces.com/15-best-minors-for-business-majors/ As you can see the content on these pages is totally unrelated to the content on the about-us page. Any ideas why this is happening and how to resolve.

Home Pages of Several Websites are disappearing / reappearing in Google Index
Hi, I periodically use the Google site command to confirm that our client's websites are fully indexed. Over the past few months I have noticed a very strange phenomenon which is happening for a small subset of our client's websites... basically the home page keeps disappearing and reappearing in the Google index every few days. This is isolated to a few of our client's websites and I have also noticed that it is happening for some of our client's competitor's websites (over which we have absolutely no control). In the past I have been led to believe that the absence of the home page in the index could imply a penalty of some sort. This does not seem to be the case since these sites continue to rank the same in various Google searches regardless of whether or not the home page is listed in the index. Below are some examples of sites of our clients where the home page is currently not indexed - although they may be indexed by the time you read this and try it yourself. Note that most of our clients are in Canada. My questions are: 1. has anyone else experienced/noticed this? 2. any thoughts on whether this could imply some sort of penalty? or could it just be a bug in Google? 3. does Google offer a way to report stuff like this? Note that we have been building websites for over 10 years so we have long been aware of issues like www vs. non-www, canonicalization, and meta content="noindex" (been there done that in 2005). I could be wrong but I do not believe that the site would keep disappearing and reappearing if something like this was the issue. Please feel free to scrutinize the home pages to see if I have overlooked something obvious - I AM getting old. site:dietrichlaw.ca - this site has continually ranked in the top 3 for [kitchener personal injury lawyers] for many years. site:burntucker.com - since we took over this site last year it has moved up to page 1 for [ottawa personal injury lawyers] site:bolandhowe.com - #1 for [aurora personal injury lawyers] site:imranlaw.ca - continually ranked in the top 3 for [mississauga immigration lawyers]. site:canadaenergy.ca - ranks #3 for [ontario hydro plans] Thanks in advance! Can anyone speak to the pros and cons of installing mod_expire on an Apache server?
We recently had mod_deflate and mod_expire installed on our server in an attempt to improve pagespeed. They worked beautifully, at least we thought they did. Google's pagespeed insights tools evaluated our homepage at 65 before the install and 90 after...major improvement. However, we seem to be experiencing very slow load on our product pages. There is a feeling (not based on any quantifiable data) that mod_expire is actually slowing down our page load, particularly for visitors who do not have the page cached (which would probably be most visitors). Here are some pages to look at with their corresponding score from the Pagespeed Insights tool: Live Sound - 91 http://www.ccisolutions.com/StoreFront/category/live-sound-live-audioWireless Microphones - 90 http://www.ccisolutions.com/StoreFront/category/microphones Truss and Rigging - 79 http://www.ccisolutions.com/StoreFront/category/lighting-truss light weight product detail page 83 http://www.ccisolutions.com/StoreFront/product/global-truss-sq-4109-12-truss-segment heavy weight product detail page 77 http://www.ccisolutions.com/StoreFront/product/presonus-studiolive-16-4-2 Any thoughts from my fellow Mozzers would be greatly appreciated!

Page feedback
We recently wrote a new website page to cover the direct mail services our organization offers. We kept the title tag to 70 characters, the meta description under 150 characters. H1 tag has what we feel is the most important term. If anyone out there has time to review & provide a little feedback, we'd really appreciate it. It would be great to know if it is built well and providing a solid end user experience. http://www.cushingco.com/print_products/additional_services/direct_mail.shtml At the moment, the only links pointing to this page are from our blog. One bit of content I am contemplating is a short paragraph - What is Direct Mail Marketing? Literally providing a short definition of it. The page was activated last Thursday and showing up in some Google results on the 4th/5th page but I am thinking this is probably just a temporary bump for now. Anyway, thanks in advance for any advice!!!

Should I delete a page or remove links on a penalized page?
Hello All, If I have a internal page that has low quality links point to it or a penality. Can I just remove the page, and start over versus trying to remove the links? Over time wouldn't this page disapear along with the penalty on that page? Kinda like pruning a tree? Cutting off the junk limbs so other could grow stronger, or to start new fresh ones. Example: www.domain.com Penalized Internal Page: (Say this page is penalized due to keyword stuffing, and has low quality links pointing to it like blog comments, or profiles) www.domain.com/penalized-internal-page.com Would it be effective to just delete this page (www.domain.com/penalized-internal-page.com) and start over with a new page. New Internal Page: www.domain.com/new-internal-page.com I would of course lose any good links point to that page, but it might be easier then trying to remove old back links. Thoughts? Thanks! Pete

Renaming of pages
About 2 months ago one of our clients renamed a section of his website. The worst part is that the URLs of the page also changed. New page: http://www.meresverige.dk/rejser/malmo Old page: http://www.meresverige.dk/rejser/malmoe The problem now is that the new page get absolutely no page-rank transfered from the old page. It also get no mozrank at all. Also if I try to find it in the Open Site Explorer it can not be found. The old page can, but not the new one. We have updated the sitemap.xml and also done proper 301 redirect for the pages since about 2 months. Any ideas here? This page was a very important page in terms of traffic so very much thankful for any input. Have a great day Fredrik

Does page speed affect what pages are in the index?
We have around 1.3m total pages, Google currently crawls on average 87k a day and our average page load is 1.7 seconds. Out of those 1.3m pages(1.2m being "spun up") google has only indexed around 368k and our SEO person is telling us that if we speed up the pages they will crawl the pages more and thus will index more of them. I personally don't believe this. At 87k pages a day Google has crawled our entire site in 2 weeks so they should have all of our pages in their DB by now and I think they are not index because they are poorly generated pages and it has nothing to do with the speed of the pages. Am I correct? Would speeding up the pages make Google crawl them faster and thus get more pages indexed?
