Why did my site drop 6 pages over night?

deleted for privacy.

Well I wish Google would get on it and hurry up and merge them because the listing is hard to find on Google Maps and never comes up in the front page map.
-
That's interesting. Consolidating the listings will improve your changes of ranking in places as having multiple listings with the same address & phone number has a negative effect on ranking.

I totally agree with Scot
By expanding the descriptions on the photos you can also help diversify the words on the page. It may be that you are over-optimized right now, and adding extra words will actually bring you in balance.

I do have a google places listing as well as a google plus local profile for photojennette set up.

Is this what you're talking about? I actually have another forum post about deleting one of them and have been advised that google will merge the two in the coming months.

Jonathon,
While many of your competitors do have some type of gallery many of them have also been able to have a balance between text / HTML. Your pages, while they show the prospective bride's a beautiful gallery of her work, there is just not enough text for Google to consider for indexing.
Consider adding more textual copy about the photos, where they were taken "an austin wedding". The idea behind snippets in the images should help the pictures show up in Google Universal photo search. One thing to note is that your site is not currently listed in the Universal search for Google Places - this is the localized search for the "austin wedding photographers" keyword phrase. I would consider this to be a critical issue in driving business. https://support.google.com/places/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=142902&topic=1660711&parent=1656746&rd=1
This will at least give you another avenue of page 1 placement while you continue to tweak the site.

Hi all, Very basic question I know but strangely cannot find a solution to it? (its 20:40 on a Fri-night! 😉 ) I am working on a website that has over 100 pages and would like to see all the keywords associated with each page maybe in a table report of some kind? Is this at all possible? Heres an example URL KEYWORDS /index.html Moz, Moz local, London /aboutmoz.html Moz. Moz SEO, London and so on....

Is it better to find a page without the desired content, or not find the page?
Are there any studies that show which is best? If you find my page but not the specific thing you want on it, you may still find something of value. But, if you don't you may associate my site with poor results, which can be worse than finding what you want at a competitor site. IOW maybe it is best to have pages that ONLY and ALWAYS have the content desired. What do the studies suggest? I'm asking because I have content that maybe 1/3 of the time exists and 2/3 of the time doesn't...think 'out of stock' products. So, I'm wondering if I should look into removing the page from being indexed during the 2/3 or should keep it. If I remove it then my concern is whether I lose the history/age factor that I've read Google finds important for credibility. Your thoughts?

A Sudden Drop in Keyword Ranking but why?
Hi, I wondered if anyone has ever experienced anything like this before, one of our customers has a website JDB Events (http://www.jdb-events.com/). When he first came to us he was using Fast Hosts and he was experiencing down time pretty much every day in periods of up to an hour. The first step before carrying out any SEO was to place the website on our VPS so that the downtime issue was resolved. It did resolve the issue and the speed of the website was also increased. My next issue was to address the length of the Title on the home page because it was 157 characters, I usually keep these to 70 characters. This is the old Meta Title: JDB Events Limited - Event, Production & AV Hire Specialists | The West Midlands Dance Floor Hire, LED Furniture, DJ, Disco Hire & Event Services Specialists Here is the my new Meta Title: JDB Events | LED Furniture Hire for Parties and Corporate Events I have attached a screenshot of the drop that I have experienced, would anyone recommend that it's ok to keep the title longer so that I can cram more search terms into it, I use Woo Rank as a bench mark and this recommends shortening the title but I would be interested in hearing anyone's views. Other steps that I have taken: Shortened the home page description WWW Resolve Added Robots.txt Crawled all of the pages for 404 errors etc The next step I'm thinking of taking is replacing the amended meta title and description for the old one and monitoring that, other than that I can't see why I have taken such a hit. Displaying different site content to users who have already visited your site
I've seen and heard about the concept of treating repeat site visitors differently, displaying different content based on behavior etc. Not sure what it's called buy Hubspot seems to offer something like this with their platform. Anyone know of a third party app (Wordpress perhaps) or tool that does this? How does this even work? Thanks for the help!!

Moz Showing 1500+ errors on my site but webmaster showing 130ish. Whats going on?
This Morning when I check my moz account it said I had 1500+ high priority issues, The break down of issues were 1432 4xx Client errors, 49 duplicate issues, 31 title page missing. but when I check my webmaster account is it only showing I have around 135 issues. I have been monitoring is the ranking for my homepage and it's been fluctuating between appearing around the 10th page for me to not at all. which begs the question that I'm being penalized or what is going on? dor4 7xtd

Two sites with different URLs
I help organize an ecommerce site for a company that is named after the state that the company was founded in (ex: Florida Pipes). Our programmer is thinking about creating a duplicate site that would have a name that was more location agnostic so people shopping on the site would not think that they may be ordering from far away hence incurring extra shipping charges. He said that the site would only have a different URLs, name and homepage but would link to all of the same stuff that is on the site that is up now. He said that there would be no way to tell (possibly for the layperson) that the two sites were related. Is this a good practice? Would we be penalized in search results for having two URLs linking to the same content? (We are a 30 year old company that ranks very high for our main keyword) Thank you for your input!
