Long copy/articles vs short copy/articles

Hi i'm after data which shows having long articles (e.g. 3000 words) outperforms a much shorter article like 1000 words (assume they are both the same quality of articles) for SEO and even conversion.
So far i have seen these articles.

Can anyone recommend any other sources which backs the claim that long articles are normally better than short articles.

I have found from personal experience that long articles pull in a LOT more long-tail traffic.
I have lots of pages on my site that had 50 words several years ago and I have slowly be rewriting them into 1000 to 3000 word articles with lots of photos. As I do this the traffic skyrockets, not only from increase longtail but also by higher rankings.

In answer to your specific question, according to SerpIQ, The average content length for a web page that ranks in the top 10 results for any keyword on Google has at least 2000 words. And the higher up you go on the search listings page, the more content each web page contains--until you reach about 2500 words.

I changed the {Site Name} of our domain by capitalizing a letter. 48 hours later our SEO rankings are bad. How long does it take to rebound our prior rankings. The {site name} was at the end of every page title.

Best X-Cart SEO Solutions / Modules?
We recently acquired an e-commerce client that uses X-Cart. We have no previous experience with this platform and it's hard to find any good / helpful info regarding SEO functionality online. Right now I need to figure out how to handle mass redirects of 404 errors, friendlier URLs, resolving duplicate content, XML sitemap generation, robots.txt generation. The functionality built into the platform so far is terrible and all of the modules are pricey. Any recommendations, general or specific, would be insanely helpful if anybody out there has experience with this particular platform. Thanks!

Websites copying my content and spamming it on 15+ different domains- WHY?? More pop up as I try to take each one down- what do they gain from this?
I own http://TheCareerProject.org and in the last 3 months over 15 sites have popped up copying my content and Google is scanning it as my own. Why would a site do this? Is it a hacker campaign to take away rankings? What benefits do they get from this. Siloing/Sculpting... confusion....
Hiya, I saw that someone asked something similar to this here but I'm wondering if anything has changed. I've found some stuff exclaiming that siloing is a must, and should always be done. But then I've seen that you guys don't really endorse it, or at least in that Q&A you didn't and I can't find anywhere that you give instruction on the best way to do it, except a tiny bit by Richard Baxter here... and usually you do a lot more with everything that is worthwhile. So I guess my question is, where do you stand on it? and if you are for it, will Rand do a tutorial on the best way to go about it, with lots of diagrams and stuff at some point? 😄 Thanks, Steve.
