Transferring of analytic data
-
Hey SEOMoz community,
Question, we just purchased a business and while we didn't keep their website content we acquired their URLs and will be rebuilding the site.
We've asked for and been denied any historical analytic data e.g. they wont transfer admin rights over to us. Is there anyway to access historical data without being made an admin? or do we start from ground zero.
One of the reasons we're being given for not being allowed access is that "Google analytics and the associated keywords are the vendor's intellectual property" - given that we brought the brand doesn't that IP transfer over to us anyways?
Thanks,
PC

Thanks Francisco, I've got that feeling as well.
The communication is all going thru their lawyer, but i get the feeling he isn't as well versed in internet law as he thinks:). -
Sounds like these guys are trying to dodge you. Here's what probably happened. Someone opened GA under their personal gmail account and now doesn't know how to transfer it. If this is the case, you have to contact Google. I believe they can transfer the information over, but with the consent of the former owner. "If" the former owner doesn't want to transfer the info over, get a lawyer involved; preferably one versed in internet law.

Google Analytics Question - Impressions & Queries Up, Sessions Down
I'm working with a client who, according to the Google Query report, impressions and sessions are up since we've started work with them about 6 months ago, but Google sessions are down. In moz, we're seeing a gradual, but steady increase in search visibility specifically with Google. Note: this is all organic. From when we started tracking queries, the first month we were tracking there were 43,581 impressions and 690 click throughs for the month. This past month there were 98,293 queries and 1015 clicks throughs for the month (granted not year over year data) - of these 1,015 clicks, 995 of them were from web. However, for those same time periods, sessions from Google are down over 30% - 1,750 vs. 1,189. I'm not sure how to interpret this. I realize that clicks and sessions are not a straightforward comparison, but I would think that if clicks were up according to the query report that sessions would also be up. Is it that some of these clicks are bouncing and therefore not being tracked as a session? Is there a potential issue with how data is being tracked?

When I click an outgoing link from Analytics - why are they all broken?
On one of my websites, if I visit the Behavior > Site Content section of Anayltics any link I try to open is broken. Google Analytics is appending the domain before every URL causing it to open in a popup but as a broken link. Example: Trying to click a link to a page on the website at this URL: http://www.thisisanexample.com/test.html But in the Analytics popup browser this is what it tries to load: www.thisisanexample.comhttp://www.thisisanexample.com/test.html So I can't preview any of the content within Google Analytics. I feel like this is a settings issue somewhere... Any ideas?

Google Analytics goals only show unique event triggers
I have some goals in GA which is linked to different event triggers. However I've found out that the goal is only showing the unique event triggers and not the total. I need it to show the total in order to be accurate. Is there any way to switch that option? I can't find any options like that in GA or guides to do so.

Is it possible to import data from an old Google Analytics profile to a new Google Analytics profile?
We have encountered a situation where a client's old SEO firm is refusing to grant us Admin access to our client's existing GA account. For security purposes (so the other SEO firm doesn't delete the existing GA profile) we have started a new Google Analytics profile. Again we do have access to the data in the old account. Is it possible to migrate this old data over (if we just have user access)? Thanks for the help

Google Analytics: Deleted Profile
Has anyone ever successfully managed to have a deleted GA profile restored? One of our client's profiles was deleted accidentally. I know the official line is it can't be restored, but...
