Transferring Google analytics accounts
-
Hi,
Does anyone know if you can transfer an Google Analytics account. We are looking to take over a new clients existing website and the analytics account is registered to their current web designers. Is it possible to transfer it to the client so that their existing web company no longer has access and they keep all their historical data, or do we have to start from scratch.
Thanks

Point justified. But is there a possibility that if the "Administrator" rights are granted to the new account, the entire data could be accessible. After doing so, is it possible to have the entire historical data shifted to the new account, & then get rid of the old account?

Thanks I suspected as much, but it was worth asking.
Regards

Google's guidelines suggest creating a single account for each Google Analytics account. This way, one main account will be associated with each GA code that is installed. It is possible though that (especially if the account is pretty old and the GA was installed a while / year + ago) that the old design company used their main account for many GA accounts. If they did use a single account (that controls many GA installations) it would not be an account that they would likely be willing to transfer (being that other of their accounts would be connected to it), Their other option would be to allow you or the client access to the account but I suspect that that could cause some strife down the road should they decide to delete the account.
This said, I would ask them to simply turn over the account associated with the GA account. If they do not, you will end up having to start from scratch. Sorry of the bad news, but GA accounts are not transferable and this reason is (I believe) part of Google's logic in recommending a sing account for each installation.

Is there a way to filter all computers on a specific IPv6 network in Google Analytics?
Is there a quick way of filtering the IP addresses for all the computers on a network that's using IPv6? I want to filter out visits to our websites from the devices on our office network, but each computer (and phone and tablet) seems to have a different address. It _looks _like they all start the same way, though. One computer is xxxx:xxxx:xxxx:xxxx:aaaa:aaaa:aaaa:aaaa, another is xxxx:xxxx:xxxx:xxxx:bbbb:bbbb:bbbb:bbbb, my phone is xxxx:xxxx:xxxx:xxxx:cccc:cccc:cccc:cccc, etc. Does this mean that xxxx:xxxx:xxxx:xxxx is the address for our network as a whole, and I can just set up a Google Analytics filter for "IP addresses starting with..."? Or would doing that also filter out hits from, like, every visitor within a 20 mile radius of our office? If I need to simply put in the individual addresses for each and every device, I will. I'm just hoping it doesn't come to that. Thanks!

Google Analytics Tracking Code Problems
I am having a problem with my Google Analytics tracking codes. The relevant GA tracking codes have been entered into the source code of certain sites I'm running campaigns on, but Google Analytics is still telling me that the tracking code hasn't been installed - yet it has. What could possibly be the problem here? I have checked that these sites don't run off multiple domains, and that the tracking code has been entered in the correct place within the source code - and yet I am still having problems with GA. Any suggestions?

Comparing % Change, Google Analytics
Hey Mozzers, Is there a simple way to compare the "% Change" in traffic when comparing two separate time periods in a single Google Analytics report? When comparing data from two separate time periods, an exported CSV doesn't include the % Change (booo!), and there's no option to sort by % Change within the GA report, essentially forcing you to scroll through all the results to pinpoint the major movers and shakers. I'm not averse to using spreadsheets to sort this data, but I'm thinking that I'd likely need a macro to make this work, something like this. However, none of the macros on that page are working (possibly because they were designed for a previous version of Analytics). All suggestions are appreciated. Thanks!

Best practices to track blog.mydomain.com in Google Analytics?
What is the best practice in Google Analytics? Tracking blog.mydomain.com + mydomain.com under the same profile? Or creating separate profiles for each blog.mydomain.com and mydomain.com? Thanks!

What is the best way to track mobile sites in Google Analytics?
Hello! I am wondering what the pros and cons of using the regular Google Analytics tracking code on a mobile site versus the tracking documentation from Google specifically on it found at http://code.google.com/mobile/analytics/docs/web/ which is still in labs mode. Does the mobile specific tracking have the same features as the regular one to be able to track events and report the same statistics? Thanks for the help on this one!

Strange increase in Direct traffic in Google analytics
For past 2 weeks, several of our sites have strange increase in direct traffic in Google Analytics. we also have another tracking code, and in this account we don't have any big changes, so this is very strange what is happening. We didn't changed any codes, and none of the changes were done to application. Any ideas why this is happening? z7ME9.jpg
