Somone is creating a ton of links to my site!!!
-
Today I looked at site explorer and found over 1100 linking root domains and over 750 linking c-blocks. My site was hovering around 200 linking root domains and 150 linking c-blocks. I have not paid anyone to link to my site... Is this one of my competitors trying to create negative seo for a specific key word?
I've worked very hard to never try to build links and only get links naturally by providing good content that people would want to link to. Can all hundreds of new links hurt me? What can I do?
my site is www.yakangler.com

I just found another 1100 links from 800+ domains! This is getting ridiculous!
-
It should help that as soon as I discovered the links I submitted all the domains to be devalued through webmaster tools. But the risk with Google is they are so big most of the time they just don't give a crap.
-
Definitely watch your GWT for any unnatural link penalties incoming and track all of these links as their built in a spreadsheet. If you get a manual penalty notice you are going to need to explain your case to Google in an easy-to-understand and believable fashion. The more proof you can compile the better because I have a feeling they might not believe you that you were not the one creating these links. My guess is people probably use this excuse with them often. (Not that I'm suggesting you are doing this, just saying be careful.)
Keep us posted I'm curious.

There are always enemies... Just not sure who...
-
How could you possibly have built enemies in the kayak fishing community?! This is bizarre to me but I agree with your assessment.. Any ideas who could be responsible? Nobody else in the organization thinking they're helping by purchasing link packages for cheap? Former members mad? Some bitter competitor (is there such a thing for you guys?!)
This is crazy to me!
-
Thanks, I think it's pretty BS that crap like this can affect your rankings. All this does is make people do it more if it can cause a drop in rankings!
-
Then you sir have a problem on your hands.
I suppose you could use Google's disavow links tool. Be careful with it but I'm not sure what else you can do in this situation.
-
I just don't understand how all these links could be created in a few days "naturally" when the links to my site before this have always grown slowly.
All the links have the same key word and link to sites like
domain:le-saint-coran.com
domain:blogs.estadao.com.br
domain:blog.teenlife.com
domain:digimills.com
domain:marisolynorsecasanengijon.com
domain:blogs.estadao.com.br
domain:blog.fullscreen.net
domain:blog.teenlife.com
domain:blogs.estadao.com.br
domain:nosoloconsolas.com
domain:platformed.info
domain:littlehomeschoolonthehill.comAll have nothing to do with my industry. It looks like someone used a program to create the links because many are hidden by css you can only see them when you view the page source.
-
It is certainly possible though fairly unlikely unless you are in a very competitive industry or have a mortal enemy for some reason.
Have you checked the new links? If they are all sketchy links then you should definitely look into it more.
Hubspot has a tool for keeping track of incoming link quality which is what I use. Presumably Moz has something similar.

Effects of a bad link linking to a image
i am getting a lot of links from wallpapers sites.. One person has created 1000's of similar sites that are linking back to my images. My guess is images do not pass link value positive or negative. But I am not sure what the potential effects would be. Does anyone know who linking to images might effect SEO especially when there coming from horribly low quality auto generated sites.

Am I better off with ten links from one site or one link from ten sites?
I am writing a series of linked-back articles for a highly-ranked web publisher, but wonder if I'd be better off sharing the articles across different sites. My goal is to grow our domain authority and SEO rankings.

Best On-Site Internal Linking Practices?
Hi everyone, Our company works extensively with ecommerce website, and we're beginning to wonder with all of the impending Google updates what our best bets for internal linking practices will be, in particular when it comes to menu options. We typically set up our navigation with top-level categories in the main menu, then drop downs to the sub-category level pages. Our question is, should the links in the drop-down menus be followed, and if so, should they be followed links across all pages of the website, or just on the homepage menu list, or not at all? We're trying to figure out what will pass the most internal linking power without being too much and overly "spammy," I guess. Thanks for your input!

Footer Links And Link Juice
I'm starting to learn about link juice and notice in GWMT > Traffic > Internal Links, that the list is in this order by the links counted on each page. Some are in the footer and some are in the header, with some being more important than others commercially i.e. /register /privacy /terms /search /sitemap /disclaimer /blog /register So I am wondering if I should add a 'no-follow' attribute to the footer links i.e. privacy, terms, disclaimer and leave the others as they are? Does this help retain link juice on each page where the links appear? Or am I missing the point all together? This is my website: http://goo.gl/CN0e5

Is it worth me considering a reciprocal linking request to my authority site ?
My web site is www.swimmer.co.uk it sells waterproof mp3 players & is the authority site in its niche I have no out going reciprocal links I don't have advertising or encourage reciprocal linking as I thought it may devalue the sites quality & link juice I have had a reciprocal link request from a swim wear based website called www.onlyswim.com that has a reciprocal linking sub-page with many varied links on it that are not just on the subject of swimming I don't think I will get any direct traffic from this website so I was wondering if ts worth me agreeing to a reciprocal link page I think we both have a PR of 2 **Any comments would be much appreciated ** In research to try & answer my own question I have just read this on wikipedia "Reciprocal linking between websites is no longer an important part of the search engine optimization process.Google and other search engines now do not give credit to reciprocal linking as it does not indicate genuine link popularity."

Is it bad to insert links to other sites and use bold on keywords?
Hi, This is a question I always had doubt about, and would be very grateful in to know your opinions. Is it bad to link to other sites? Can this causes problems to my blog? I frequently insert links in keywords, etc, for other sites. Many times, for sites greater than mine, and I heard from some people that this is bad. Is this correct? In last days, I have used, in some links, the atribute "nofollow". This is good, or not? In a case, for example, when linking to Wikipedia, is it good to use "nofollow"? And about keywords: I'm mostly using bold on them. Is it good, or not? This subject always makes me think. I would be very grateful for any help. 🙂
