Simple Link Question
-
Hi Guys,
I will appreciate if you answer 1 small question.....
Will our site benefit from that link?
Valuable website related to our business ---nofollow link--> PDF Doc(on second site) ---link to our site --->Kind Regards,
webdeal -
+1 to what Doug said. A nofollow link can still drive a lot of value in the form of traffic. Looking for additional ways to turn that page into a linkable resource would probably be the best use of your time, rather than trying to figure out which specific links will have the most benefit.
-
Are there any opportunities here? Why does the valuable website link to the PDF doc? Can you provide a better (quality), more accessible (html) page that they'd link to instead of the PDF? Can you provide other content around the same topic that they'd be interested in? Do they ever use followed links in their content?
At the end of the day, it's still a nofollow link so the benefit will be minimal/insignificant unless you get direct referral traffic via that link,

All i meant..... better to have a link like
Strong profile site -----Follow Link ----> Site2 --Follow link -----> To mysite
rather then...
Site 1 ---nofollow link--> PDF Doc(on Site 2 ) ---link in PDF ---> To mysite
Tell me if i am wrong...
-
What do you mean by "look much stronger."
Page rank domain trust will not change with a no follow
-
Hi Saijo,
based on your answer...
Strong profile site -----Follow Link ----> Site2 --Follow link -----> To mysite
will look much stronger....Correct?
Thank you
Dmitriy

Site 1 ---nofollow link--> PDF Doc(on Site 2 ) ---link in PDF ---> Your Site
Assuming Site 1 is a high profile site the PDF will get some benefit out of that nofollow link and the link from the pdf will help your site. So in theory there is some small amount of indirect SEO value to be had there.

You will not get any thing from the link "link Juice is the common term"
Hope that helps,
Tom

Unanswered questions in forums
What should be done with forum questions that go unanswered for a long time (i.e. year or longer)? Are these types of questions valuable content? Should we opt out of having these types of pages indexed? Since these pages are just one sentences doesn't seem like it is adding value to the site.

Dynamic referenced canonical pages based on IP region and link equity question
Hi all, My website uses relative URLs that has PHP to read a users IP address, and update the page's referenced canonical tag to an region specific absolute URL for ranking / search results. E.g. www.example.com/category/product - relative URL referenced for internal links / external linkbuilding If a US IP address hits this link, the URL is the same, but canonicalisation is updated in the source to reference www.example.com**/us/**category/product, so all ranking considerations are pointed to that page instead. None of these region specific pages are actually used internally within the site. This decision was done so external links / blog content would fit a user no matter where they were coming from. I'm assuming this is an issue in trying to pass link equity with Googlebot, because it is splitting the strength between different absolute canonical pages depending on what IP it's using to crawl said links (as the relative URL will dynamically alter the canonical reference which is what ranking in SERPs) Any assistance or information no matter how small would be invaluable. Thanks!

Tumblr links
I have several Tumblr blogs. Created when Tumblr links were worth more, and now primarily for my amusement. But, I'd like to get whatever link juice I can out of them. I thought only the footer links were do follow, but when I check Moz it's showing all links as do follow. Any idea which is true?

HTTP to HTTPS Question
Hello, I have a question regarding SSL Certificates I think I know the answer to but wanted to make sure. One of our clients’ site uses http for their pages but when they started creating Registration forms they created a full duplicate site on https (so now there are two versions of all of the pages). I know due to duplicate concerns this could be an issue and needs to resolved (as well as the pros and cons of both) but if they are already set up with https does it make sense to just move everything there or in some instances would it pay to keep some pages http (using canonical tags, redirects, htccess…etc)? – Most of the information I found related to making the decision prior to having both or describing the process but I couldn’t find anything that specifically related to if both are already present. I thought that the best approach because everything’s already set up is to just move everything over to the more secure one but was curious if anybody had any insight? Thank you in advance.

Social Links through Link Shortners. Does it count?
We use link shortner services like Bitly, Goo.gl, etc. Does the post used while making use of such link shortner services counts as a social signal. Or should we post the complete website url pointing to each page while posting on social sites. Secondly, should we write a new description while posting on Social sites or just copy paste a few lines of original posts?

Specific KW question...
Hi, I have this site: http://www.aerlawgroup.com. It's ranking very well overall for all targeted KWs. However, I have seen a drop for one main KW: "Los Angeles criminal defense attorney." It currently ranks #8 (it used to be as high as #2). What's interesting is that for similar (yet slightly less competitive KWs, he ranks much better - "Los Angeles Criminal Defense Lawyer." I'm not trying to be greedy with rankings, but I would love feedback and/or tips regarding any issues that could be contributing to this drop. Thanks.

Site structure question
Hello Everyone, I have a question regarding site structure and I would like to mastermind it with everyone. So I am optimizing a website for a Ford Dealership in Boston, MA. The way the site architecture is set up is as follows: Home >>>> New Inventory >>> Inventory Page (with search refinement choices) After you refine your search (lets say we choose a Ford F150 in white) it shows a page with images, price information and specs. (Nothing the bots or users can sink their teeth into) My thoughts are to create category pages for each Ford model with awesome written content and THEN link to the inventory pages. So it would look like this: Home >>> New Inventory >>> Ford 150 Awesome Category Page>>>>Ford F150 Inventory Page I would work hard at getting these category pages to rank for the vehicle for our GEO targeted locations. Here is my questions: Would you be annoyed to first land on a category page with lots of written text, reviews images and videos first and then link off to the inventory page. Or would you prefer to go right from the new inventory page to the actual inventory page and start looking for vehicles? Thanks you so much, Bill
