Is it worth adding your rss feeds to directories
-
Hi, i have been doing some reading this morning where people say it is a good idea to add your rss feed to directories and i would like to know what people think.
Is it really worth it to add your rss feed to a directory where you then need to add a link to their site and if it is worth it, how are people doing it. Are you creating a link page on your site
look forward to hearing your thoughts on this

hi thanks for that. The reason i was looking to submit to them to gain more subscribers to my feed, after what you have said i think i will leave it, many thanks

You will get minimal, if any, SEO value by submitting your RSS feed to directories. Do not submit them to paid directories either, as Google have been penalising sites that pay for links.
The only reason to submit to directories is if they are relevant to your industry/content, and you if you will receive targeted traffic from these directories.

Is it worth it to compete with a big competitor starting from scratch?
Dear all, I'd like to know if you think it'd be worth it to compete with a relatively big competitor (160k backlinks from 2.4k domains, citation flow 47, trust flow 43, class C IPs 1.2k) whose niche is however something I have sufficient knowledge of (how-tos and technology) starting from scratch. I am particularly interested because such domain exploits a niche language I have good fluency of (and in which there surely is somewhat less competition, particularly about how-tos and technology, compared to English). Until now I have managed a very small niche domain in my spare time (genre-specific music), which however being so specific, couldn't but have a modest amount of visitors even if ranking high on Google. On the other hand, it's been years I have been closely watching that domain I'd like to compete with (it has around 8k how-tos with good SEO but average or below average outdated content taken from various unquoted sorces, something I'd easily create myself in a few months worth of work, or even sooner with the help of a few collaborators, that domain itself is run by just a couple of people) and consistently ranks its how-tos and comparison on top positions in its niche, yielding most of its revenue in header bidding. Never seriously thought about competing in its niche until I heard about their last year's turnover, had the usual thought ("If I just did it myself! What was I thinking to?") and met a good coder I am grateful to and which I feel could be the right person to take care of the website's backbone. The template they use is nothing overly complicated, it just has the main optimizations one would use to decrease load time and not trigger Google with too many banners. The main doubts I have is if such a domain, having larger economic resources than me, could eventually sink mine (with techniques like giving me plenty of spammy backlinks or something like that) once it finds out I am competing and getting closer than they'd like, or since their texts are already quite good SEO'd, their strongest assurance could be that I'd have to sacrifice too many keywords in order to create my content without having my reworkings seem close enough to theirs to allow a lawsuit against me? Thank you Frank

How do I properly sitemap a site with static pages + Wordpress in it's own directory?
I apologize for the awkward wording in the headline. No to the issue, I have a site with static pages that are created as follows: url.com, url.com/page1, url.com/page2, etc. I then have WordPress install at url.com/blog. What is the proper method for creating a comprehensive sitemap for my entire domain. I like the sitemap feature provided by Yoast SEO plugin but I assume it will only index the wordpress directory (url.com/blog). Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Recommendation for Geotheme or other directory plugins / themes
Hello, I was wondering, if anyone here in this community runs a directory using wordpress + a geolocation theme like Geoplaces or Geotheme or others. I have tested Geoplaces and felt with around 100 business entries that my page loaded superslow (up to 4 sec) already on a power server. I would like to work with a fast, secure and SEO-friendly directory theme...any recommandations?

Adding a new wp client to subdirectory - SEO?
Im working with couple of clients in the travel business. Im building up a network of blogs that add content, internal contextual links and so forth to clients websites. What I want to do is to install a fresh wp client to a subdirectory e.g. www.mydomain.com/blog for every and each client. This way I can get my outsourcing workers to log-in there and write content, add internal contextual backlinks etc. This also solves the problems of letting them learn on various different local CMS systems that are often just in the local language - that nobody understands:) So either I install it as an additional wp client if the clients has a wp client for the root domain. Im wondering what effects this will have on SEO and what is important to do?. E.g. do I install a new sitemap for this new wp client in subdirectory - or do I merge it with the one for the root domain. How? In regard to GA tracking - do I add the same tracking code to the new wp install or somehow merge it into the root domain? Are there some issues I need to worry about especially when using this approach?

Is it worth to change a blog from a subdomain to subfolder?
We have a blog in a subdomain since some years and we are thinking about moving it to a subfolder, to see if we can boost the main domain (incoming links + fresh content). Could be worth it?

SEO issues around post syndication via RSS
There are a number of clients that I have that want to syndicate either posts or video content to other websites via RSS feeds. Each of these are built on a WordPress platform, fyi. Two that this applies to are: http://explosiveoptions.net and http://mrtopstep.com Many of the sites that would pick this content up would be higher Domain and Page Ranks than the original sites. Those that have video content put it up on multiple sites, including YouTube. What can I do in the configuration of the RSS feeds to ensure the credit is maintained to the original website, and are there any other considerations I should be concerned about? Perhaps things that I would ask the other site to do in their incorporation of it to their site? Thanks for your help.

RSS News
(By Google Traductor) Hi, within our community we have developed a news service (www.agroads.com.ar/noticias/) where we had about 30 sourcesrss. News grouped into categories and generate an internal link to see the details (and also a link to see the full story in the appropriate media). It is our first experience with a news site and wanted to know:
Content Development | | romaro
1. We keep track of all news from all media? (would be creating agreat sitemap in the future:)
2. We must clarify in the sitemap that are sources of news?
3. Google may consider it duplicate content?
4. We're taking data from different source types (html, video andpodcast), we must differentiate this content to index? Any other suggestions would be welcome.
Greetings!
