Google Plus Cover image

Does anyone have any tips on getting a super crisp cover image uplaoded to G+?
I have a clear image, full dimensions of 2120 x 1192, but once I've uploaded it, G+ appears to compress it and it loses sharpness / quality. I have turned auto-optimise off, and and tried both JPEG and PNG files - PNG seems to work better, but still not quite there.
Example: https://plus.google.com/116325067504054061939 (scroll up to see blurry text)
Thx!

Thanks for your reply, the issue is our in-house designers have very keen eyes and don't settle for anything less than perfect, so even a little bit of blurriness of the text in the image is an issue. Highest my work screen res goes up to in 1200x800 but the designers are working on high-end macs.

Asked the designer about the image res, his reply was that everything they did for the web was at 72px so that shouldn't be the issue. However, if you (or anyone) has any evidence to the contraryt, I'd be happy to take it to him.
Re the article, it suggested creating the image at half the dimensions, which I assume would only compound the compression issue.
Thanks for responding!

The answer may lie in the monitor size/resolution that you're currently viewing in. Cover photos dynamically resize proportionately using 16×9 ratio to fit your screen resolution. Is your monitor a diff ratio?
I've checked your profile image on my laptop (1600x900) and it actually looks fine on my end. The resized image that Google serves up on my end: sumo-gplus-banner.png is 1,582px × 892px. Still it looks very sharp on my laptop.

I would maybe check to see if the cover photo was designed with high image resolution? For example, GIMP defaults to a resolution of 72 pixels, but I find that changing that number to 300 produces higher quality on large image files.
Also, check out this article http://ideasandpixels.com/the-new-google-cover-image-size-dimentions
Not sure on this one..hope you find an answer!

Should UK websites expect any benefit from using Google+?
In several places, Google+ is talked about as something that should be used to help improve the SEO of websites and to engage better with audiences. The problem I am having with this is that these sources are usually from America, and that people I've spoken to in the UK don't even know Google+ exists. So what I'd like to know, does Google+ give any sort of benefit to UK businesses in terms of SEO, even though it seems it's a platform used mostly in the USA?

OG meta image showing something different
We are currently in the process of deploying our homepage at www.laserfiche.com , and as part of that, I have added the following meta tags to our homepage: The referenced image should be our company logo, similiar to how Marketo includes there logo as their og:image. However, instead all I am seeing is a pot of yogurt (http://i.imgur.com/EmhRxEY.jpg) when loaded into Facebook. Interestingly this was the image associated with a recent blog post about company culture (http://simplicity.laserfiche.com/content/developing-wholesome-corporate-culture) although this is on a subdomain (legacy decision) and not directly related with the homepage. Any insights would definitely be welcome!

Google+ and Google Search Plus Your World. Are the results served actually the best results?
I recently started a discussion on Google+ and thought I would get some feedback from the SEO community. https://plus.google.com/106060287111641282262/posts/Hpak5R6uY47 This article suggests that Google Search Plus Your World does not improve search quality for users. When a search is performed, I can imagine that results would be skewed to Google+ content and +1s from people in your circles. Doesn't this mean that if you only follow not-so-influential people who share and +1 not so quality stuff that your new "world" results are just going to be low quality? Doesn't this mean that SEO and traditional linking methods are dying? This would mean that the bigger chains will have more advantage just like what happened after Panda. How does the small business compete with this? Any insight would be of super appreciation.
