Nofollow internal links
-
Hey Moz friends,
Need some advise of yours.
Trying to add new products and content to my website regularly(nowadays a bit more) to be able to have more internal links and attact the visiters.
Figured out most websites dont use nofollow internal links. Are we doing something wrong? this internal nofollow links are affecting the anchor text i assume. Any advantage to make that links follow?
Thanks in advance

To the best of my understanding about seo, i consider applying the best practice. If you have a choice of applying best practice by avoiding nofollow from internal links then to my view you should apply that
Refer case study from Tedster on :- http://www.webmasterworld.com/google/4161726.htm

As i understood there is no actual benefit to use nofollow internal links. But want to be clear is it gonna be harmfull to use nofollow internal links in our case i want to explain how we built it.
We have categories which are linking to our products.. And each product has three links from that url(one from title text, one from photo and last one with button called
detail
). Detail button is nofollow. Is there any harm to keep it that way or we have to make that button follow? Thanks once more

Rather to my view, no internal link should be nofollow. At best - if the page is of low authority you may noindex the page. Nofollow are good for external page or domain. However, In Internal links - There is no additional value to mark nofollow - this is what been categorically told by Matt Cutt - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bVOOB_Q0MZY
Trust - will assist with what the webmaster guidelines says - no internal link should be nofollow

Thanks for info so far
Obviously nofollow ones are no important keywords linke details, login. creat an account button
And as an example my home page www.frutiko.cz Follow 60 and nofollow 14 internal link. Percentage of being high is a problem? Even that keywords are no important shell i follow that links ?
Thanks

Hi,
It is my understanding that having followed internal links will pass on domain authority to specific areas of the website and increase the individual pages authority. If you have them no followed, no/little authority will be passed on to those pages. Obviously, the higher the PA the better the chance of you ranking for specific keywords on those pages.

Hello
If I understood it properly, you're wondering if you should use follow vs nofollow.
Actually it depends of your page and strategy.
Nofollow will give indication to Google on the page -it looks like they crawl also the nofollow- but will not transfer link juice.
I usually do it in page where I want to reduce the number of outgoing links. So less important information are linked to no-follow.
Do you have any specific example ?

Link juice - What could be the reason for our bad internal page Page Authority
So OK we have a domain authority currently of 41, we are well established but unfortunately we don't have any pages with PA. I have a fair idea of why this is the case but want to get some other opinions before I form my strategy. 1.It appears our internal link structure is not great and is not very organised 2. It appears we have 58 links going externally on some pages. Some of these external links are social media icons in the footer which are followed. Is there any other factors I should be aware of when building PA on some of my inner pages. Any Thoughts would be appreciated.

Links from my Own Blog to my Own Website and Link Scheme
Hi There, I use my own blog to give advices and offer information related to my business service. Of course in terms of SEO my blog is useful not only to expand my brand presence but also to acquire long-tail traffic. I use to insert a maximum of one link with a relative matching anchor text in every article of my blog pointing to my own webpage. Said that, the questions are as follows: Am I involuntarily participating in a Link Scheme with my blog? And If so, how many links can I send to my own webpage ? Shall I limit the number of links to a minimum? Thanks a lot for your advices.

What is a natural link?
Hi everyone, I'm trying to better understand what is meant by a natural link and would appreciate any assistance. Doing some competitor link analysis I've noticed a web developer who has created a directory for all its customers. This is not a directory in the traditional sense of being of use to an end user, but to my untrained eyes, it looks like an internal directory used solely for the purpose of link building. For all I know this might be perfectly good practice in the industry, but as a beginner, I'm attempting to get an understanding of things. My question is, what precisely is meant by a natural link? If the above scenario is all ok, whereby there are businesses in the same field of work, but ultimately could be in any given location, on a directory, are they natural links? Do these kind of directories that don't service an end user, exist if the common feature between them is say location only, or an seo agency only? Appreciate I could be completely out of kilter on this, but it seems the benefit on SERPs is pretty significant for something that seems pretty "unnatural" to me? Any guidance would be appreciated...tom

Using sitewide links to improve link profile?
Hi Guys... When I look at my competitor's link profile, they often have thousands of backlinks. For example, one of our main competitor, he got 3,400 backlinks in total but only 80 referring domains. When I look at my link profile, I have around 50-60 referring domains, but hardly 80 backlinks. My question is, is it okay to get a few sitewide links (no-follow of course!) to get to the thousands backlinks? Or I will be able to achieve top rankings with my current link profile? Thanks!!

New links for Internal Anchor Text
If pages get moved and 301s are in place is it still important to update the anchor text links to the new page url? For example would it be optimal to go through old blog posts and change the urls for the anchor text if the old anchor text url redirects to the new page url.
