How to handle spam SEO companies soliciting your clients?
-
My clients keep getting spam email or messages in the contact form, about how they could be ranking better, they're not hitting keywords they should be, etc. Typical scare tactics trying to solicit new clients.
How do you deal with this?
-
ha ha... thanks for the story. Great!
When they call me, I just tell them don't call back.

I don't have the answer you are looking for but I wanted to share what my main "client" does. My husband is a real estate agent, and he is the reason why I got into SEO. I learned how to optimize his site and have done very well at it.
He gets calls several times a week from people who want to rank his site (despite the fact that he is ranking well for most terms.) This is what he tells them: I have a really good SEO working for me already. She's super expensive but she's good. She's so good, in fact, that I married her.
The SEO usually doesn't know what to say after that.
btw...what I usually tell people in regards to SEOs who call or email for business is that all of the really good SEOs don't have the time or the need to make unsolicited phone calls for business. The good ones have people beating down their door. If someone is calling and begging for your business then they probably are an amateur and don't know what they are doing.

Does the Year according to the URL have an SEO impact
I ask to Godaddy if there is an SEO impact between buying a url for 1 year or 10 years. They said me that there is no impact, however, I read the historical URL has one. So, the question is : buying with 1 year and autorenew might be the right choice. Warm regards,

Where to find good SEO job applicants?
We're located in South Dakota, and I'm having a hard time getting qualified job applicants for an advanced SEO position. The ad has been placed on local job sites as well as careerbuilder.com and indeed.com. What other places do you recommend?

What Do You Wish Your CMS Could Do (SEO Wise)?
What do you wish your CMS could do SEO-wise. Even if it can be done with a plugin etc, what could be done better? What CMS are you referring to/using? Very curious as to where folks run into SEO issues with a particular CMS.

How do you learn SEO effectively, with so much information out there
I’m reasonably new to the SEO market, but I find it hard to keep up with all the information that comes out daily. I not always sure what to believe or who for that matter present company accepted (SEOmoz). But I’m sure I am not the only one who finds this difficult, does anyone know of accredited courses in SEO / Internet marketing, in the UK or distant learning that could give me a very good grounding. Or if anyone just has some good ideas on how to take all this information in, I would very much appreciate their views. Regards Kevin

SEO Risks for redirecting sites
Hey Everyone, I've tried searching for this question, but am not exactly sure what keywords to search for so I'm probably missing the resources if they already exist... My client has had duplicated sites for years, and after multiple penalizations of those sites I was finally able to convince him to consolidate them into a "mega-site". Currently, he has a main domain, a geo-subdomain for each office location under the main domain, and a geo-domain for each office location. We plan on redirecting each geo-domain to the corresponding geo-subdomain. So, the final result will be one main domain, and a sub-domain for each office location. I'm looking for any information regarding tracking SEO data after the redirects are in place, how to guard against potential drops in SERPs, what's the smartest strategy to implement, etc... My client is very sensitive to his sites' SEO data, so if anyone has any SEO-related advice regarding redirecting sites it would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

Hire single SEO & SEM person or hire separate people?
I've been moved to a busines development part of the business but I'm still in charge of all of our SEO and SEM. I was only an advanced beginner to begin with but our needs have grown. I'm not sure whether to contract with one or two people. Can someone be extremely well versed in all things SEO and SEM or is it better to get two people on board that might serve as a better sounding board? While they certainly work together, both are a constant moving target and it requires us to stay on top of trends and white hat policies of all the major players. My worst nightmare is to get someone that tries to game the system and screws up our rankings long term.
