Why is my Domain Authority dropping from 52 to 46 but my Keyword ranking has never been higher?
-
At the start of August my Domain Authority was 52 but it has fallen to 46 over the course of 8 weeks.
At first this was credited to the smaller index that SEOMOZ has taken and when this was certainly in line with our rivals results as well who all suffered a drop. When the index issue was fixed we did see an improvement, back up to 51 at the start of September, pretty much in line with all of our rivals.
However our Domain Authority has dropped again and this time it is in complete isolation, none of our rivals have suffered anything like a 3 point drop.
Our SEO has never been better with 65% of our keywords ranking in the top 3 and 86% ranking in the top 10.
Im wondering what is causing this rapid drop in Domain Authority and what affect, if any, it was have on our future keyword rankings.
Thanks,
Emmet

These links are not what I would called "money term" or anchor text" the links are all to a section of our site that offers a particular service.
Thanks for all your help on this.

Could this be the cause of our falling Domain Authority and will it affect our keyword rankings.
I believe that it could have a slight positive impact on domain authority...
Google might not like links like that - especially if it is a sitewide and if it has a money term as anchor text. However, I don't think that one site linking to you like this will tank your rankings. If you are concerned about it you can get in touch with the webmaster and ask him to remove the link.

Thanks for your feedback Egol,
I have been searching around and I am slightly worried that a recent back link from a guest blog on a website with lower domain authority could be dragging us down and it may have a long term affect on our rankings.
They have created a link to our site on their homepage so every article that they publish is sending us a link. They publish about 10 - 15 articles a day so we are now getting 15 links a day from a a site with domain authority of 25.
Could this be the cause of our falling Domain Authority and will it affect our keyword rankings. I have worked pretty hard to get them ranking so highly and I want to nip any negative affects in the bud ASAP.

Nice work. Celebrate then get back to work!

In my opinion, these numbers are highly volatile and are not part of the google algo for determining your rankings.
Use them to chart your long-term progress. Instead of focusing on them spend your time improving your website and doing great SEO. Spend your 100% of your mental energy there.

Traffic drop after analytics troubles
Hi For two weeks we had an artifical low bouncerate & high pageviews/visit in our Analytics reporting. The day we corrected the bug in Analytics - our bouncerate & pageviews/visit returned to normal levels - however we saw our search traffic go down massively(-50% in sessions). The bug in the Analytics was caused by a second Analytics tag which was included in an external script which interfered with our own tag. The drop in traffic occurred just after the removal of the second script (which was only on our site for two weeks). We didn't touch our own tagging - and there were no technical changes on the site during this period, and there is no seasonal trend which could explain the sudden drop of traffic. We double checked our tagging - and the analytics tag is present & working on all the pages of our site. On the organic traffic report from analytics you can clearly see the when the troubles with analytics started & ended (artificial low bounce rate) - and that the traffic drop starts right after the reporting issue ended. Webmastertools also indicated a lower number of views/clicks, but not to the massive 50% drop. Is it possible that Google uses the measurements from Analytics for it's SERP's? Or should there be another reason, and where should we start looking? Appreciate your help! e5GmoMM

E Commerce and cross domain tracking on universal analytics?
Hi Mozzers, I am running into an issue where my client's website ( can refer to domain.com) uses a third party checkout site called rezovation that we can refer to checkout.rezovation.com: I went through this doc here https://developers.google.com/analytics/devguides/collection/analyticsjs/cross-domain and https://developers.google.com/analytics/devguides/collection/analyticsjs/ecommerce (for universal analytics) and I still find it confusing so here are my questions: According to my understanding I need a customized GATC to link both domains checkout.rezovation.com and domain.com? If yes(above), do we setup one customized GATC for cross domain tracking on all pages from checkout.rezovation.com and domain.com? if it is the case can someone provide detail steps on how to set it up ( I am not a coder so the easier the guideline, the better) Once cross domain tracking is set up, e commerce tracking code should be only on thank you page should be looking like the image below? Should i add manually all the extra code for the ecommerce tracking code or I can get it done via a third party website? Thank you guys! oPgn8P4.png

Organic Traffic Drop and Rank Increase After Video Thumbnail added
So my company has created a large amount of videos and I took a couple of them and created a test video sitemap to see what effect adding a video thumbnail/rich snippet to the SERPs would be. It worked on one page and gained 2 spots (position 6 to 4) for the highest keyword, but traffic didn't increase too much. Then a week later I tested it with the page that we get the most organic traffic for, which is ranking for a very big keyword. It worked and gained a bit of ranking, but traffic decreased 50% ever since according to Google Analytics. It seems to me that the traffic from users clicking on the video thumbnail is not be tracked as google / organic even though it lands them on the intended page/doesn't redirect anywhere else. I've looked to see if traffic to this page increased overall to see if it was being tracked via a referral or as something else, but couldn't find any traffic discrepancy. The only thing I did find is that impressions under SEO > Landing Pages > Video Property increased, but this could be from the page ranking in the Video SERPs now. Has anyone experienced a similar situation? Do you think having a video snippet could be that big of a turn off for customers that people just aren't clicking like they used to? I don't think so, that's why I'm leaning towards a tracking discrepancy in Google Analytics.

Feedburner stats show drop in multiple feeds from 6/21/13 to 6/22\. Anyone else seen the same?
Client has 3 RSS feeds in Feedburner, and they saw a drop in subscribers from 6/21 to 6/22. Wondering if anyone else has saw a drop recently. Obviously, this could be the results of multiple people cleaning up their feeds, but it appears too coincidental. Has anyone heard if there are any recent issues with Feedburner tracking?

Google Analytic - Is it possible to see which organic keyword triggered goals?
Hi, I am trying to see which of my Google organic keywords triggered my goals? In GA I click > Conversion > Goals > Overview > Source Medium (This then says where my goals came from but when I click Google / Organic it just brings me to the overview page of my organic traffic). Is it possible to see which organic keywords trigger goals?
