Facebook Businees page or personal account?
-
Buon giorno
With more & more clients creating facebook pages theyve no idea wether they should create a personal account or a business page and neither do i.
One question:
Is this https://www.facebook.com/Natureflex a business facebook page or a personal account & how can you tell?
Grazie,
David -
Thank you for all your replies

Hi David,
Great question! Peter and Mat both make good points. A few more things:
1. You can also tell that the Natureflex is a business page, vs personal timeline, as it has a like button, does not have a birth date (nor other personal information), has an option to share the page with your friends, has a link to suggest an edit to the page "about" information, and shows the number of likes.
2. It is against Facebook's TOS to create two personal Facebook Timelines. I know several people who have done this (one for business contacts, and the other for personal friends only.) Their accounts could be shut down at any time. The thing is, what they could easily do that is within Facebook's TOS is convert one of those Timelines to a Page with their personal name on it. If you create a new Facebook Page to represent one of your clients as an individual person (vs. brand/product, etc.), choose "Artist, Band, or Public Figure." When you go to create a new Page, you have a variety of options to choose from. This is the one to choose if you are creating a Page for any individual person (even if they are not technically an artist, band, or public figure.) When you select this option, you'll have a long list of categories to choose from, including "Business Person."  See Rand Fishkin's page as an example.
3. Here is some more information about Facebook Pages that you may find useful.
Please let us know if we have answered your question, and how you get on.
Cheers,

As Peter says, it is best to use a business page for a business. Â Various features (including the friend limits) are geared for businesses. Â It is also worth noting that it is against TOS to create a person page for something that isn't a person. Â I don't believe that they enforce that much, but why risk your business page?

Hi David
To create a Facebook business page you have to first have a personal account.
I would say every time that if you want to represent your business and Facebook is the right channel to be on (for some B2B businesses it may not) then create a Facebook business page. The only reason to share your personal page is with genuine friends who could be business contacts as well, but my general rule is to keep them separate.
The page you linked to is a business page shown by the reference to the product/service.
I hope that helps,
Peter

Why does someone's FB page rank so highly?
Hi Everyone, i recently ran a non-personalized search and saw that this facebook page https://www.facebook.com/tampapersonalinjurylawyers ranked very highly for both "personal injury attorney" and "tampa personal injury attorney." The page has very few likes, and they don't even post that often. From my limited  knowledge, that leaves me guessing it's because its a quasi-exact match facebook page, but that can't be right...can it? (Ranking screenshot is attached) Thanks, Ruben GO4N11x

This is a pain, one day I'll leave the digital game which then presents a problem for the next administrator, I mean i can hardly pass arounf my facebook user name & pasword. Then to add to the conundrum i hear the fix is to regioster a business account sound good so far but then you cant do this if you have a personal account... err WTF! So my question is what do socail media agencies do when they open facebook business pages, surely they are not ties to personal accounts? Any insights welcome,

Does Traffic help improve my page rank?
I've learned many things to do to improve my page rank over the past several months (thanks, seomoz). Our website, www.farnorthkennel.com, has improved greatly thanks to your help. Here's my question. I have 13000 fans on FB. If they all read a blog post I put up, does this help my page rank? Does new visitors hitting up my website make the Google gods smile upon me?

Removing Facebook Pages Without Admin Access
A few years ago someone started a Facebook page for my company. It has about 15 fans and is not active, however it is ranking in Google because of it's age. I want to delete the page (so that the real official Facebook page will rank instead). However, I do not have access to the original admin account and Facebook is not responding to my removal requests. Any suggestions for what I should do? Thanks!

Received Tons of Traffic From Facebook..But from where?
I checked my GA account today and noticed that I had a ton of traffic from Facebook to a specific blog article on my site. I tried to look into it, but I can't seem to find exactly where it's coming from. Is there anyway I can figure this out? Â It's been bugging me all day.

Facebook Comment Notifications
I setup Facebook comments on my site using the iframe setup. I thought FB would notify me whenever someone comments on my website, but that is not the case. Now people are commenting and I would have to look through hundreds of pages on my site to reply to their questions. I searched the web on how to do this, but I am lost when looking at the steps. Can anyone help provide clear instructions on how to notify me of my website comments on my FB page or by email?
