Im seeing a Dot after the / on a new project, never seen this before, any issues using this format ?

Hi
Ive got a new project and seeing a dot after the forward slash something ive never seen before what does it mean ?
Are there any seo issues regarding it, is it bad practice or fine to proceed using that format ?
Example below;
www.domain.co.uk/**.**cool-new-product
Thanks
Dan

Sorry Dan. I feel I didn't really answer your question properly.
What I would do is check if these pages have any external links using something like Open Site Explorer or Majestic SEO. If they don't, then it would be fine to change the URLs and 301 redirect the existing pages to the new ones as it's likely that the existing PageRank is passed from your own internal links. If external links do exist then you might want to consider doing nothing - depending on the authority of these links.

It might be on most pages but still be an error - for instance if you're using mod_rewrite and the dot has been placed in the rewrite rule then a single error could potentially affect many pages.
If these pages rank well and it's for purely aesthetic reasons that you'd like to remove the dot, then you may want to consider leaving the pages as they are since using a 301 redirect may result in a loss of some of the existing PageRank.

thanks but does seem to be on most site pages ?
if 'fixed' it would that require 301 redirects from old dot version to new non dot version (since old established pages) ?
cheers

Hi Dan
This is likely to be a coding error where the dot has been placed there by accident.
Dots are allowed in URLs. For instance, it's common to have dots in versioning web service interfaces
However, it's not very clean so I would attempt to get this resolved.

Repeat keywords on the pages/titles
I know it is important to avoid duplicate titles and title tags, but I wanted to verify. Lets say you are a collection agency, would it be smart as a strategy to do domain.com/collectionagency/Dallas_ collection_agency and have that same key word structure for many states so many pages?

How/when do you trim your article pages?
Hi all, I wanted to ask what have you all done to your article section that has made a difference to the site's SEO performance? What's the criteria for deciding which articles top cut or 301 redirect to the main page For example: 1. you have a slightly irrelevant article to your website topic, low conversions, but a lot of quality links to page, but no primary keywords in article title. 2. You have a slightly irrelevant article to your website, low conversion, but a lot of quality links AND you have your site's primary keywords in article title 3. You have a relevant topic to the site, but low engagement and low conversions Thanks for all your help!

Advice about subpages/submenus
I am working on some pages on my site (www.crmi-online.com) and am curious as to the pros/cons of subpages/submenus. The challenge I face is that I feel like I am creating too many pages that are nearly the same which may result in way too many submenus/subpages. Is it better to make a main page heading and hyperlink to related service page vs creating a subpage for it? (OR) Have the main page heading and multiple subpages even if the copy is very close to other pages. This is the area I am having trouble with: Services > Office Automation>Workflow>Electronic Document Management>AP Processing>HR Onboarding Thanks, I hope this makes sense.

Sudden Drop in Rankings/Traffic/Organic Impressions Without a Penalty
Hi Moz community! I have a question about a local client in Raleigh, NC - http://paragonbuildinggroup.com This client came to us from another agency who had previously not done such a great job with the design/development of the site, or with the marketing of it, so we are somewhat limited in terms of what we can do on design, user experience, etc. But, the SEO is all still easy to tweak and we've been working on it for some time now. As of July 5th, their keyword rankings have dropped dramatically (we're talking from first page rankings to nothing, according to Authority Labs), and they've fallen completely off the map in the SERPs. Their local listing doesn't appear in search results anymore, and WMT is showing a drastic drop in impressions (from 457 on July 3rd to 92 on July 5th). There have been no manual penalties on the site, no recent major development work done, and from what I can see, no signs of hacking and no bad backlinks. The only thing I can see is that Mozcast showed an 83 degree day with some clouds and rain on July 5th, the day that our rankings dropped off, but I can't find any documentation showing what might have changed. Any insight as to what might be going on? I'm completely stumped!

Would it be inappropriate use of authorship mark-up for a directory profile?
If a business creates a profile in a directory and adds their Google+ page, and they add the domain/profile URL as a publisher they contribute to, is that a legit use? They are the author of the business profile, but it's not an article.
