Wordpress Overly Dynamic URLs
-
Moz is giving me an overly dynamic URL warning for around 30 or so of these on our blog.
http://blog.domain.com/?page=products&do=domain-com-looks-like-a-blog-title
I have no idea what's causing this, we have the permalinks set up for category/post and are running yoast.
Anyone have any idea what it is? And how can I stop them being crawled. They link to the blog homepage when clicked, which is set to canonical in the head so it shouldn't do any harm - but i'd like to remove them all the same.
Will /Disallow /?=page work in robots.txt?

You're welcome!

This worked - not seeing any drawbacks to doing it like this so far. Thank you.

I think Yoast has an option that allows you to force the rewritten URLs. Check its entire configuration, it should be something like redirect ugly urls to... I don't remember. But it should be under Permalinks.

Community Discussion - Are URL profilers worth the investment in time and effort?
In a recent post, Craig Bradshaw shared how creating a URL profiler can work wonders for brands looking to learn what links competitors have attained and which links your brand should be trying to acquire. We're wondering if your marketing team has made use of URL profiiers, for your brand or the brands you support, and if so have you found them to be worthwhile? RS

Sitelock and anti malware by hackers on wordpress
Dealing with my first client that had hacker situations on her wordpress... and she just got into sitelock. I am curious what everyones thoughts are and what other plug ins you suggest. I have used and suggested things like wordfence, bulletproof security, wordpress security, things like that. I just don't want her to get into a scam and I don't know enough about it.

Wordpress Old Articles date - Update or Not
Hey there! Been reading around and I believe that there isn't a perfect answer to this question, but I surely want to know your opinion. It's a fact that google likes new content but also updated content, so whats your position concerning the wordpress articles. Meaning, when I decide to update articles from 2011 on its content, should I also update the date? If I make a search and an article from 2011 will be shown, its unlikely that I will click on it... So that you can understand my point.

Wordpress blog, transferring .com to .org
For many years now we've had a wordpress.com blog, and accumulated a lot of links from it as a result. We now have a wordpress.org blog and are keen to move all the old posts on to the new .org site. How can this be done without losing the links from the old .com blog? Thanks in advance.

Wordpress Security and Alternatives
No matter how secure we try to make our wordpress blogs they still got hacked. We recently got hacked(server level hacking, javascript insertion that took our server down, through the askimet plugin), anyway there was nothing really showing in the front end, no inserted links and nothing suspicious looking code. Oh well we are changing the passwords now and going through and deleting the javascript. The problem im facing is that i am handling over 100 blogs, so its very time consuming to do this. I know that once or twice a year everyone goes through a wordpress crisis but we really cant afford nor have the resources to fix it all the time. Are there any alternatives to wordpress blogs(as good as wordpress). Wordpress has been showing good results so far so it works as far as SEO goes, but we are trying to figure out what to do in order to not get hacked. Besides alternatives id like to know if there are any work arrounds to not get hacked with little maintenance needed. Any tips?

Rel Canonical In Wordpress
I'm using Wordpress with the Thesis theme (which is great by the way). It puts in a rel canonical for each page. Is this correct? I had always thought that the rel canonical just went on the home page telling SE's the preferred home page address. This appears to be telling SE's the preferred web address for each page.

Changing URL structure in WP
Hi there. Currently we have our blog (WP site) URLs setup this way: companyname.com/post-name However, it's hard to analyze blog's (only) content in Google Analytics now (since all posts have their own unique URL). I want to change the structure to companyname.com**/blog**/post-name Question: Is there a way to do it safely? Will I have to 301 all the old links to the new structure or is there any other way to do the switch without losing any links? Thoughts or any (other) suggestions? 🙂 Thanks much! 🙂 `Helen
