Are my urls too long or spammy?
-
Hello, what are your thoughts on these urls. I have had them like this for years, I got hit hard from Google in May last year. Do you think this contributed? Would it be beneficial for me to make them shorter?
-
Thanks. None of those will do what I need unfortunately.
I am using RSSEO in J3.0.
Unfortunately it doesn't have the option to change the urls to custom urls.
I installed: MijoSEF Popular but it changed the existing sef-url structure so it's contracts what I have already done. So I will need to keep the RSSEO in place.
So, what I need is a plugin/component to allow me to customize the urls and also creating 301's for the old ones. -
I don't know Joomla well but found more tools to do 301's

I'm using Joomla 3.0. Unfortunately the component doesn't give the option to customize the urls.
I have found another component which gives the option however, it changes the current url, so that would be I would have to do twice as many 301's.

I would read this blog post
http://moz.com/blog/should-i-change-my-urls-for-seo
then read this afterwards
in my opinion they are way too long. you are being somewhat spammy by repeating words over and over. For instance wedding is said very many times sows the word dress and bridal.
I would look into rewriting your URLs. Read the should I change my URLs for SEO link at the top.
If the URLs are older and ranking extremely well I would leave them alone but only if there ranking where you want them to be.
I want to remind you to remember to 301 redirect your old URL into your new URL when you make the change if you decide to
Sincerely,
Thomas

URL sequence
Hello, Does the URL structural sequence matter to SEO optimisation? For example, users are likely to enter the search term: "Business Analysis Training Courses". Though, in my experience urls typically have a reversed structure: "www.site.com/training/courses/business-analysis". My question is, would the sequence "www.site.com/business-analysis/training/courses" have any improved value? Thanks.

Question about ranking for long tail keywords
So I am looking at some long tail keywords for my web design company, for example: "website development and design company" The top results are websites that are not optimized for that specific keyword but about "web design & development" in general. The top ranking sites also have quite high PA with lots of links. If I were to create a page specifically about that term would it be fairly easy to rank for since the top ranking pages are not optimized for that keyword?

On-Page optimization for the Long-Tail
Does anyone have any thoughts about on-page optimization for the long-tail of keywords? I know, I know, the way you capture long-tail searches is by having lots of content. The problem is that I can't convince some of my clients to do anything with content marketing. Even so, I'm noting that as much as half the leads for some small business clients comes from long-tail searches. Meanwhile I spend all my time trying to get their pages to rank for a one or two terms. It seems like there must a scientific way to approach increasing long-tail traffic on pre-existing pages. I'm now experimenting with looking at the frequency of words that appear in searches that the client only receives 1 visit from. Together these one-offs amount to about half the traffic. For instance if I have data like this: Visits Search 1 Training help for my German Shepard 1 German Shepard resources in St. Paul 1 German Shepard clubs etc. etc. Then it makes sense to add some language about German shepards, and perhaps try for anchor text with the 'german shepard' match. Perhaps add a photo with alt text of German Shepard etc. The trouble with this technique is that my main target term for the page might be something like "Dog Training Twin Cities". If I try to increase my long-tail traffic about german shepards I risk creating a frankenpage! I'd love to know if any one else has tried to approach this problem of maximizing long-tail traffic on existing pages without hurting UX. Thanks!

Is it OK to keyword-optimize multiple pages for the same keyword? Is it beneficial, hurtful, or not a major factor either way?

Is there a way to search 400+ urls for a specific keyword?
I have a large list of URL's that need to be checked for a specific keyword. I've been doing them one at a time and it's painful. Is there a web based tool out there that can search many different URL's at once?
