What is going on with Bing lately?
-
I am working on a clients site and the last two weeks rankings and traffic have gone down hill. I have taken Bing rankings for a grain of salt lately because they seem sporadic in my ranking tools. I did some manual checks and my client's site does not even index or rank on Bing when searching by their domain. Also why is the Bing site index results so off. My client has 29,000 pages under Google but in Bing they have only 40. What am I missing?

Hi Jen, thanks for the update. I'm very happy that you now have one less headache to deal with. Hooray!

It actually turns out to be a problem with our Comcast business connection. What we have been told is we were only seeing local results, which was due to the fact that they were updating the lines in the area. It took a fight to get Comcast to agree they were the problem, but it is all fixed now!

Hi Jen! Were you able to resolve this issue? We'd love a status update, thanks!

Hi All,
We think we have this figured out and we believe it is a Comcast ISP issue. For some reason we only are having this issue on a Comcast internet connect. AT&T U-Verse and cellular data gives us the right results but on the three Comcast connections we tried it is give us the same errors.
Keep you all posted!

Jen - My huge apologies. I meant to respond to another question, and I just typed in the wrong tab. Darn multi-tasking! Let me take a look at this in a moment... Again...oops!

What about the fact that even the domain is not indexing in Bing?
-
So, taking a look at your site vs. other sites...
The other sites that rank ahead of you all have the keywords you are trying to rank at the beginning of the title tag. Yours starts four words in.
(see screenshot)The 1st ranked result has the keywords in the title tag, and in the page name (not directory)
www.zeldadungeon.net/Zelda15-a-link-between-worlds-walkthrough.phpSame thing for the 4th ranked result:
www.linkshideaway.com/a-link-between-worlds-walkthrough/Your page has 346 words of content; the top #1 ranked page has more than four times that amount of content at 1399.
Sometimes Google will rank pages well that have short content.
In this case, I think that Google's algorithm is determining that a site that has lots of content, graphics and information is somehow more useful to the end user.
My recommendation: Beef up the amount of content on your page, and include a few more screenshots.
I know that this is tricky for something that you are selling, when what you are selling is the content. It's a balancing act.
I have a page that I wrote for an extremely competitive term that ranks very well. It has more than 12,000 words of content and 80+ screenshots. Does everyone who lands on the page read all 12,000 words, or watch the 48 minute video? No... But it outranks other pages that are just a few words of content.
Hope this helps!

Does Bing Support same sitemap for full site, mobile, and images?
We have 1 sitemap for our desktop site, mobile site, and images. This works for Google, but I'm not sure if it's supported by Bing or if they require separate sitemaps. Anyone know?

Google visits falling at the expense of Bing
Has anyone else noticed their percentage of search visits from Google slipping in the last few weeks at the expense of Bing? We've seen a 4% swing in the last month. Obviously Google is still the dominant presence (acconuting for 88.4% of all organic visits to our site kenwoodtravel.co.uk) but still it would be interesting to know if this is just a blip or more of a trend?

Did anyone else notice all their keyword rankings go down after the last Panda refresh on January 17th 2013?
Even before January 17th I noticed my keyword ranking slowly going from the top 3 to around 8, 9 and 10. Then between January 15 and January 30th, (SEO MOZ) is not showing the exact date) they all went down to the second page and worse. The rankings dropped for an e-commerce website petsspark.com. They sell a tear stain removal product which is a pretty competitive market. After January i started to notice that Google was starting to rank blogs, forums, overal product review websites and of course amazon, better than me and my competitors. Was anyone else effected by the panda refresh or have any idea what may have gone wrong? Please help ScreenShot2013-04-10at50852PM.png?t=1365628252

How do I rank higher in Bing/Yahoo?
We are doing really well across the board on Google, but having issues in ranking with Bing and Yahoo. What is different between the three search engines? I have read a few articles that Bing is happier with Flash, and they are more interested in Top Level Domain links, but what else is different? In Google we are sitting on page one for most terms, but are page 2-3 in Bing/Yahoo for the exact same terms. Any help would be appreciated!

Anyone else noticing that Bing & Yahoo are delivering widely different results
Anyone else noticing that Bing & Yahoo are delivering widely different results in past week. Prior to that after they started using Bing SE it seemed like they were identical, but no more. I am using RankTracker and getting this on several web sites.

Bing Update?
With all of the talk about Panda V2 I am just curious as to whether Bing has also updated their algorithm in the past month. I have seen some reports about the number of indexed pages dropping in half on June 10th as reported in bing's webmaster tools, as well as experiencing that drop on our websites, and a significant decrease in rankings do to them dropping some high performing pages out of their index. So Just wondering if anyone else had seen this or had any info on an algorithm update rolled out from bing. Cheers, Josh

Bing Optimisation
Hi there, Please can someone point me to some current and reasonably accurate articles or guidance on optimising for Bing, as my optimisation work on one client is reaping rewards in Google, but being partially ignored by Bing and I really want to be able to better understand their ranking factors. Many thanks, Martin
