Fixing A Page Google Omits In Search
-
Hi,
I have two pages ranking for the same keyword phrase. Unfortunately, the wrong page is ranking higher, and the other page, only ranks when you include the omitted results. When you have a page that only shows when its omitted, is that because the content is too similar in google's eyes? Could there be any other possible reason? The content really shouldn't be flagged as duplicate, but if this is the only reason, I can change it around some more. I'm just trying to figure out the root cause before I start messing with anything. Here are the two links, if that's necessary.
http://www.kempruge.com/personal-injury/ http://www.kempruge.com/location/tampa/tampa-personal-injury-legal-attorneys/
Best,
Ruben

Hey Ruben,
I am seeing your page on the bottom of Page 2 on two different ISPs. #19
I think that it will go a little higher.
-
Fantastic news! You were right! The correct page is now ranking, and it's on the fourth page. It took awhile, but it finally changed this week. Granted, still lots of work to do, but hey, fourth page is so much better than omitted.
Thanks again, EGOL

Will do!

Great. I think that will help a lot. Please post here if you see improvement.

Alright, I'll make the change and see what happens.
Thanks!

My bet is that the Pasco page competes better than the Tampa page because the Pasco page is the one getting a site-wide link in your footer navigation.
This is the URL in the footer nav...
http://www.kempruge.com/personal-injury/
Link to the Tampa page in the footer and I think that you will have better results for two reasons: The Tampa page is optimized for the "Tampa Personal Injury Attorney" query... and the Tampa page will have site-wide link, telling google that it is more important than the Pasco page (which receives very few links on your site from what I can see.)
I would also make a link from your google plus page to the page that you prefer in the rankings.
-
Yes.
-
This page is optimized for Tampa Personal Injury Attorney
http://www.kempruge.com/location/tampa/tampa-personal-injury-legal-attorneys/
The title tag is: <title>Tampa Personal Injury Attorney | Free Consultationtitle>
The page below is optimized for a different query - so it would not surprise me if it competes poorly...
http://www.kempruge.com/personal-injury/
The title tag is : <title>Personal Injury Attorneys, Lawyers | Pasco County | Free Consultationtitle>
==========================
When I search for Tampa Personal Injury Attorney I don't see your Tampa page, I see your Pasco County Page. So, I am suspecting some problem with the Tampa page.
Is that what you are seeing?
-
Tampa Personal Injury Attorney.
-
What KW phrase are you talking about ?
These two pages have very different title tags. One is targeting a city and the other a county. So, if your keyword represents a geographic query these pages might not be expected to replace one another.

Paginated category pages still showing in Google
Despite our blog using rel=next and rel=”prev” we’re still finding paginated pages getting impressions in Google, suggesting they are taking up unnecessary crawl budget. An example is: https://www.theukdomain.uk/seo/page/2/ What steps would you recommend I take to most benefit my sites SEO? Thanks, Sam

Highly interlinking a particular page shows up in Google search results?
Hi All, As we can see the below statement from Google about internal linking: "The number of internal links pointing to a page is a signal to search engines about the relative importance of that page."

https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/138752?hl=en So if we interlink a page highly than other pages, will it rank on search results instead of homepage? Moreover if the page have "keyword" in URL slug...like www.website.com/keyword. Thanks0 -
Only The Google Plus URL Appearing In Organic Search (No Images or Info)
Just a quick one, when I search for my brand in Google I see my normal listing but the Google Plus URL is appearing on the right hand side as a link on it's own. I see that other brands have there company info pulled in here. Is there anything I can do to make it appear like other brands have it, (with the images, text, etc.)? Thanks,

Website using search term as URL brand name to cheat Google
Google has come a long way over the past 5 years, the quality updates have really helped bring top quality content to the top that is relevant for users search terms, although there is one really ANNOYING thing that still has not been fixed. Websites using brand name as service search term to manipulate Google I have got a real example but I wouldn't like to use it in case the brand mentions flags up in their tools and they spot this post, but take this search for example "Service+Location" You will get 'service+location.com' rank #1 Why? Heaven knows. They have less than 100 backlinks which are of a very low, spammy quality from directories. The content is poor compared to the competition and the competitors have amazing link profiles, great social engagement, much better website user experience and the data does not prove anything. All the competitors are targeting the same search term but yet the worst site is ranking the highest. Why on earth is Google not fixing this issue. This page we are seeing rank #1 do not even deserve to be ranking on the first 5 pages.

Any downsides of (permanent)redirecting 404 pages to more generic pages(category page)
Hi, We have a site which is somewhat like e-bay, they have several categories and advertisements posted by customers/ client. These advertisements disappear over time and turn into 404 pages. We have the option to redirect the user to the corresponding category page, but we're afraid of any negative impact of this change. Are there any downsides, and is this really the best option we have? Thanks in advance!

Alexa site title shows as "302 Found" on search result pages
If you search for the site "ixl.com" in Alexa, for some reason, it's showing the site as "302 Found" instead of showing the website name, IXL. If you drill into that, it shows the site as ixl.com, but underneath that, it says "302 Found" again. Every other site I search for seems to show the site's name properly. I have no idea where it's getting this "302 Found" from. Does anyone know how to fix this? Here's a link directly to the search results page: http://www.alexa.com/search?q=ixl.com
