The page level meta robots tag perfectly complements the robots.txt file. For example, if you have blocked a page or a section of your site using robots.txt file, Google will definitely not index the blocked content while crawling your website but, they can crawl the blocked content from other sources on the Internet where there are links to the blocked content. That is the reason you see in Google results that says,"A description for this result is not available because of this site's robots.txt – learn more."
So to completely stop Google from indexing your content, you should go in for the page level meta robots tag along with the robots.txt.

Not all the Meta tags are important but it’s very much depends upon your use… if you are doing it for search engines the priority will be different then for paid ads.
For search engine the two Meta tags that I find worth using are Meta title and Meta description. Title is important both from the bot’s perspective as well as users read it! Whereas description Google (big might use it a s a ranking signal) does not use it as a ranking signal but still users read it and it can tremendously increase your click through rate.
For PPC the addition would be the Meta keyword tag as Google increase the quality score with the Meta keyword tag. (According to some reports Bing use Meta keywords as a ranking signal)
Tip: Do not stuff the any tag with keywords in it and make it look natural even with the keyword tag, include on the keywords that are important.
Google understand the following Meta tags (https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/79812?hl=en) but using them all at once place is not the right choice in my opinion… for instance if you are using robots.txt file then there is no use of including Meta robots tag.
Hope this helps!

Meta keywords is pretty much useless, though I've heard it may mildly increase quality score in PPC. I don't do paid advertising, so I can't say for sure.
Meta description is grand.
Open Graph meta helps with sharing on Facebook.
Twitter card markup can be helpful, but mostly if you're hardcore about Twitter.
Cards markup uses Open Graph as well, so if you're not too crazy about stuffing your head with every tag known to man, OG should suffice for social meta.

Hi Scott,
Other than the following 3, I don't think you should bother about anything else:
1. (this can also be declared in the HTTP header also instead of the section)
2. The title tag (this is not a meta tag and can be declared as follows in the section:
For example:
<title>Your title goes here</title>3. The meta description tag
Here you go for the list of meta tags that Google recognizes:

Hope that helps.

I have created a simple website, but one of the panels moves
All right, I've created a simple website (http://fontvilla.com) and I have had a problem for personal reasons. When you execute the code below and see the whiteboard at the right-hand side labeled as the.newsLetter and change the screen size, it moves away unlike that I have just floated right above. But if I float this one right then it floats to the middle of the screen, so works as I want it. In order to do that, I am going to make this reactive, and need to have it like the one above. You got a fix...?? Help, please! Thank you. Thank you. <title></span></p> <p><span>Home </span></p> <p><span></title> <nav> Contact Products About Home </nav> Here is just a simple title This is just a little bit of dummy text. This is just a little bit of dummy text. This is just a little bit of dummy text. This is just a little bit of dummy text. Welcome to A dummy website!! Meta descriptions in other languages than the page's content?
Hi guys, I need an opinion on the optimization of meta descriptions for a website available in 6 languages that faces the following situation: Main pages are translated in 6 languages, English being primary >> all clear here. BUT The News section includes articles only in English, that are displayed as such on all other language versions of the website. Example:
Local Website Optimization | | Andreea-M
website.com/en/news/article 1
website.com/de/neues/article 1
website.com/fr/nouvelles/article 1
etc. Because we don't have the budget right now to translate all content, I was wondering if I could add only the Meta Titles and Meta Descriptions in the specific languages (using Google Translate), while the content to remain in English. Would this be accepted as reasonable enough for Google, or would it affect the website ranking?
I'd like to avoid major mistakes, so I'm hoping someone here on this forum has a better idea of how to proceed in this case.0 -

How many backlinks from one domain?
How many backlinks from one domain is too many? 1? 3? 10? For example, directory listings. If you have 5 separate links to one website in lets say DMOZ (good for you!), is it really only "juicy" one time? Or each one just as awesome? What about multiple guest articles on a related website? If I had 2 or 3 articles on one website that each have different contextual links, is it just the same as if I had one article?

Is translating my SEO meta data to new languages worthwhile?
When translating a website to additional languages, is it recommended, for Google SEO purposes, that the keywords, re-written URLs, meta titles and meta descriptions of each page be translated as well; or have those elements been completely depreciated?

Meta tags not dead? Is this keeping me hidden?
I am not sure if it makes a difference, but when I called Google Places on Monday to edit my business address, I asked if the support person could see any penalties against my site. They said no. I asked because of my berneseoftherockies.com website is non existent. Now I have been working with removing 10 foreign backlinks, so not sure if even one bad backlink can cause a site to not come up, thus causing a penalty. I mean for bernese mountain dogs in Colorado is a small niche, but I am no where to be found. But they did say that they did not see any meta tags. I responded with I was under the impression that Google does not use meta tags. This rep stated, they would use them. So did they give me some secret? When I Googled my main keyword, I noticed out of the top 10 listings, they all used meta keywords, except for one. Could this be keeping me out of the rankings? Thank you for your toughts
