Dramatic decline in rankings
-
Hi
I'm in need of some advice, one of our clients has had a very sudden and dramatic decline in rankings. On the week commencing 20th Jan, 23 of our keywords declined from pages 1, 2 and 3 of Google out of the top 50. We haven't been carrying out any bad practice SEO, just some on page optimisation so that we achieve A grades with the Moz tool. We have also built 4-5 links in the past 3 months with quality and relevant sites such as biz crowd and industry relevant blogs so I don't see why this would be a problem.
I noticed on the Moz Cast that there was some increased algorithm activity on 23rd and 26th Jan which would correlate with this decline in rankings, but our other SEO clients seem to be unaffected - I'd be interested to see if anyone else has been affected by this?
I welcome any advice or further insight on this.
Thanks in advance.

Hey,
It will be very unfair to advise without analyzing website in terms of On Page and Back-links.
Just a favor, similar issue happened with one of our USA based client last week. Complete collapse in rankings suddenly but rankings got backed within 2 days. That was mysterious. I wish the same for your client!
Still, without analysis, we can't identify issues! There could be one or more reasons
- Some Sort of Robot
- Back-links Issues (Anchors, Diversity, Quality)
or others.
-
Thanks for that James, I've checked WMT and we have no manual penalty notices.
I'll definitely carry out an link audit, thanks for those resources.
-
Firstly - check in Google Webmaster Tools to see if you have got a manual penalty.
Secondly make sure you haven't done anything silly like blocking search engines on robots.txt or response headers.
Thirdly I would then do a full link audit of your site - use OSE, Ahrefs, Majestic and WMT. Go through the links and ask yourself if they were honestly and naturally placed, and if you think Google could have an issue with them - and if so try and get them removed.

Issue for ranking Keywords.
Hello Team, First of all, this is the best tool for SEO experts, it tells all the criteria like ctr, priority, and also difficulty, for keyword research I will give you 10/10, but my issue is this. When I put my site URL https://topbestwatersoftener.com/ to Moz, then this shows me no ranking keyword, but I have 2 my keywords in the top 100. The other tools like Ubbersuggest show me these two. Kindly tell me why? its about crawling speed?

Not showing up in Google Local Pack despite being #1 ranked for keyword
Hey everyone, This has been an on-going problem that we've been having for a select location of ours. We've been #1 ranked for the keyword "dog groomers near me", however we don't show up in the Google Local Pack (top 3 locations box). We have a high 4.9 rating with 20+ ratings, and the other locations that DO show up have a 2.4 and 3.6 rating with less reviews! I've exhausted every resource and have even geo-tagged our specific photos on our landing pages. I'm not sure what to do anymore as we're already #1 ranked on every similar keyword. Thank you, Anthony

Will reviews be ranked higher if responded to?
I can't find any up to date information on reviews and whether or not Google pushes up reviews with responses or does the ranking stay the same?

Effects of changing your city to overall rankings?
One of our offices is in Trinity, Florida. However, "Trinity" isn't a real city. It is essentially the nicer part of New Port Richey. Organically, we rank for new port richey terms, but i have a suspicion, our lack of maps/local presence is hurting us. Should we do a massive citation overhaul and change everything to New Port Richey for that office? Will doing that somehow hurt our site overall? Thanks, Ruben

Domain Authority going up while ranking positions down. Something is missing...
Hi Moz Fans! Its the first time I try to ask the community something, usually I find the solution somewhere in this incredible place. But today I need some orientation with a complex problem. We have just launched a spanish Car Dealer Rating and Reviews website. Lets say there is a multibrand Car Dealer called "Autogira" so we need to aim two typical keywords query: "Autogira", "Autogira reviews". "Autogira" is the most important one because it means more than the 90%. Using On-Page Grader I found that the listing page for Autogira: "Autogira" = Grade A "Autogira reviews" = Grade C However I found my website well ranked for "Autogira reviews" (1 page) and not for "Autogira" (2-3 page). Competition is low for the two kind of keywords. Autogira and this examples have reviews and good photos so its good content, however there are lots of listings without reviews yet. Chronology: Nov 20 = Sitemap.xml sent through GWT Dic 26 = Domain Authority up to 10 Jan 16 = Google snippets installed Jan 17 = Domain Authority up to 12 Jan 30 = Domain Authority up to 18 Feb 3 = Growth trend changes and starts going down, coincide with a problem of duplication of urls that was fixed 2 days later. Keywords like "Autogira" starts fluctuating positions between 20-50 but "Autogira reviews" stay on 1-10. Feb 5 - Feb 26 = SEO improvements (more on page optimization, deduplication, canonalication...) How could I lost positions for "Autogira" and not for "Autogira reviews" when everything is better optimized for the first one? Is it normal to fluctuate weekly rank positions for the same keyword? Thank you all!
