Is guest blogging still working?
-
Hi,
Anyone still using guest blog tatics (sush as http://myblogguest.com/) as an effort on seo? Is that still a valid option nowadays.
Thanks
-
Completely agree with Chris.

Laura,
The essence of guest blogging is still valid--that is to create relationships with other bloggers who have an audience that will find your post valuable to them.
It's the standard execution of today's guest blogging that's now been frowned upon by Google. Sites who's content model is simply to publish any quality copy they can get their hands on from authors who are just churning out masses of words in order to have something to surround the links they're pushing are now seriously limited in the value they can provide that author. As with almost anything in SEO, tactics that scaled up for mass consumption, are doomed.
Hand pick a couple of sincere bloggers with audiences that can relate well with some aspect of your product or service and approach the blogger with valid rationale as to how/why a content relationship would be an honest benefit to their audience. That's the essence and that still works.

Hi,
guest blogging has definitely lost a lot of its value in the last year. So much so, that Google (through Matt Cutts) pretty much called guest blogging dead as a strictly link building tactic. However, if you're guest blogging on a major website that's going to bring lots of traffic back to your own site, that's always a good thing.

Are you still disavowing links?
In light of the Penguin update a few months back, are you still disavowing links? Penguin is meant to now ignore spammy links, meaning that manual disavow via Search Console is not needed. However, the feature stills remains in Search Console, suggesting that it is still helpful (or have Google just not got around to removing it yet?) Be interesting to hear your thoughts.

Removing links from rubbishy 'blog' sites
I need to remove around 800 bad links, probably about 500 domains as a very rough estimate. These were built by a previous link building company. Here some example domains: http://globalweddingblog.com

http://womansonlineblog.org I have already tried emailing a hundred or so with a manual link request - with zero outcome. Hardly surprising when you consider the types of sites they are. I've had a quote for a link removal service, but I'm not sure if it's wise to pay someone to do this work - not sure what resources/tools they would have above and beyond what I can access and there could be increased risk. Any advice?0 -
Blog links: Going out or staying in?
I am a wedding photographer and have a "Venues" page on my website. Am I better associating the links to the venue's actual website or to a blog post featuring a wedding I did there? (PS: In the blog post there will be a post aiming at the venue's website.) Thanks!

Is Zemanta Still Safe
I have a quick question, I have been watching a conversation on Google+ where someone pointed out that they have found someone using Zemanta (free) but someone have republished the same article over and over to lots of websites. I think they mentioned 12 detected so far. He was concerned that these links would start to be considered spam because they are all identical content on different urls. I know Zemanta has been lauded as great and safe before, but John Mueller from Google has commented and stated that it could be considered a link scheme and therefore he "would not recommend" that it is used. Be good to hear some others thoughts on it! Paul

Should I invite people to guest post?
I'm a little confused about the benefits of inviting people to guest post on my site. I've just read http://www.seomoz.org/blog/using-passive-link-building-to-build-links-with-no-budget which suggests that by inviting people to guest post on my site I can build a relationship with them and eventually ask them to post a guest post of mine on their site. If both posts have a link back to the owners site doesn't this amount to reciprocal linking? Or am I missing something? Is a reciprocal link only classed as such if the link points to the exact page where the article is or can a reciprocal link point to anywhere on the site and still be classed as reciprocal?

Blog commenting
When commenting on blogs and the only link you can have is your author name (Ex. Commented by Mike), what are you gonna have, a name, the name of your company or the keyword that you are trying to rank for? Thanks!
