New content checklist
-
Hi everyone,
Hope your day is super fantastic.
I am working on a new content publishing checklist. Once we publish a new article or blog post, what are the sites/ links/ actions to take to distribute the content and "get it out there".
I looked around on here, but couldn't find one.
Let's start a great discussion and then I will compile the answers and publish.
Something like:
Social:
Facebook
Twitter
G+
PinterestBookmark:
del.icio.us
stumble
rededitAnswer Q's:
Yahoo Answers
QuoraWhat do you think? Too secret sauce for a general discussion?
Thanks.

Thanks Dan,
I was really hoping of just a general checklist for any industry any blog.
For instance, once a post gets published, the author should:
Promote their post on G+ and FB, and our company Twitter account.
Add the page to their del.icio.us account. Other "bookmark" sites.
Connect with Top 10 "blogger friends" and let them know the post is up.
Promote on reddit.
Do a couple of general searches around the web and see if any other blog posts would benefit from the content you just posted.
etc.
etc.
We could take this list, clean it up, and boom, might have a pretty darn good publishing/promoting list or infografic for aspiring seo professionals....

Hi Kyle,
Sorry for my late reply.
You are correct, and please let me clarify.
We have a team of 2 writers and 2 others who help/manage social, etc. While the social guys are familiar with SEO, our writers concentrate on producing awesome content for humans, not search engines.
What I would love to develop is a simple checklist of basics to help promote the new content. Once a writer completes a piece, each participating member then has a list of activities to help "promote" the content.
Does that make more sense?
Thanks.

That is a good start but it is important to not just jump into these channels without thinking about the audience - this checklist may sound good for SEO but it is may not be the best for your potential audience.
Explore their communities - for example, if you were targetting SEOs then you would hang out on SEOmoz, share content on inbound.org, comment on searchengineland.com, tweet the industry leaders on Twitter etc. By joining your niche communities you will build up connections and awareness which will help you gain links at a later date.
Before you publish content I would suggest joining in the conversation. That way, when you begin publishing your content you will have a basic following to be able to market to.
There is no secret but to be honest most people on here are very open and willing to share their expertise. I hope this question gains more of a discussion!
What kind of industry is your content targeting? Or is this a general checklist that can be applied to any industry?

There is no "secret sauce" in SEO, Just hard work and knowing what you’re doing. If your blog is not well established I would look into guest blogging with other blogs in your industry so you can build up your name / followers.

Duplicate content
Hi everyone, I have a wedding blog I submit posts to on a monthly basis for a link back. One of the staff said to change the first 200 character and I can post it on my own blog with no duplicate content penalty. Any thoughts? Best wishes. David.

Content Marketing and Link Building Strategy in Industrial B2B
We struggle link building because engineering sector has few blogs and is much more traditional than many industries. I've just had a new idea on how to do this and wanted to bounce it off people to help refine it and improve it. Search LinkedIn for "content marketing" or similar Refine by Industry etc Ask people on resulting list to guest post on our blog - which is focused on engineers in our sector Then..... For us it boosts our blog content with high quality posts that are interesting for our audience and maybe some traffic benefit. For them it provides SEO benefits and possibly some market exposure. How can I parlay this into getting a link back as well? What else can I do to make it more effective? Cheers Denis

How to get started with a brand new site and domain name and prioritize content creation?
Hi there. I just bought a Moz Pro membership with the goal to start with a new domain name and create a content channel. The domain name is completely fresh so it doesn't have any authority or trust associated with it. I did initial keyword research with the Google Keyword Tool for the niche I want to address and know what content I can get out. I would like to prioritize content creation based on what will rank easily in Google and then work my way up from there. Do you have ideas on how I could best prioritize these keywords to this? How can I identify the low hanging fruit for getting some incoming links to my website such that there is already some incoming link juice? (without using any black hat tricks) Any hints or tips are greatly appreciated. Thanks! PS: The website is in Europe where the blogosphere is really underdeveloped for the niche.

Hi all, I have a site which I've been trying to get into dmoz. It's taken approx 2 years and I went back recently to submit it and it was there. I hadn't submitted for a few months so can't be sure when it went in. Is there a way to get google to spider that category again so it gets picked up quicker? The site is www.nutritionmission.co.uk and wasnt showing up in my search explorer results yesterday. Thanks for your time Ian.

New pages backlinking
Hello there, I have created a website that with some basic link building has been appearing nicely in location based keywords, eg, computer repairs flintshire, this was easy enough to achieve as the competition wasnt great, just wish i has these on page seo tools 6 months ago! my question is this - i am trying to get similair results in other location based keywords, eg, computer repairs chester and computer repairs wirral. What i have done is created a new page dedicated to each keyword, making sure that there is no duplicate content ect ect, the on page SEO is perfect and i am already on the first page for a couple i have done. so i have a url that now is http://www.ep-networks.co.uk/computer-repairs-chester.php

How do you find out what (and when) new websites are linking to your site?
I may be missing the obvious here, but is there any way (a programme or site) of seeing what new links come into your site? Obviously as anyone who works in SEO, I like to see which links we have got with the work we put in contacting webmasters, etc. But is there a better way than just manually looking through ALL the links? Any help will appreciated.
