Why is my quality score so low?
-
I am not sure if this is the best place to ask a PPC question but figured it was worth a shot.
I am trying some different keywords around the word "wedding venue" for instance "amazing wedding venue" or "iowa wedding venue". This is the landing page, http://germanhausbarn.com/wedding-venue/ .
What I can't figure out is why I am getting 1/10 quality score for most of those keywords. Is there something I am missing?

Hey!
Great question (sorry for not getting back to you sooner). The issue isn't your ad copy, or likely your landing page, but the keywords that you're targeting. As with venues or any arrangements offline, costs are significantly higher as soon as "wedding" is thrown in. I have had a similar experience with a client who was advertising on wedding rings -- low quality scores, higher CPCs.
When you hover over the status bubble next to your keywords in Google, it should tell you exactly where the issues are. I just checked one of my 1/10 QS KWs and it said my landing page experience, ad relevance, and expected CTR were all below average. This is likely the same for you. I would work on testing your ad copy. But, you need a good adgroup structure for that.
Here's my suggestion: I would put together one keyword with exact match with three different ad into one adgroup. That way you can start to isolate the issue. Is it the copy you're using? Can you get a higher CTR for that? Is it the landing page (it's my unsolicited opinion that this page does in fact need some work for a happier customer experience, but always be testing!)? Is it the keyword itself? What are your competitors writing in adcopy for this keyword? What are your ad extensions? What are their CTRs? Can you edit them to be better?
For this test, you might want to just run these one keyword adgroups on the google network only, so that way you have an accurate understanding of the amount of traffic that's coming through and how they are interacting with your site. Not that the search partners network impacts your QS, but it will impact your results that will effect your tests (unless you plan on splitting the data by network + search partners).

What are your ads like? They play a role in QS as well

Off topic, but those are some fancy digs! The local church and the community center next to the library were always good enough for my Iowa relatives. I have a bunch of family that comes from Battle Creek, and more that come from Des Moines. I had to take a look and see if I've been there before, but it doesn't look familiar to me.

How can I increase quality score when bidding on competitors?
I'm trying to increase my quality score when bidding on competitors. I've broken up each competitor into a separate ad group and focused on 5-10 keywords in each but my quality scores seem to stay around 3 - 5. I'd like them to be more in the neighborhood of 5-7 Currently my ad relevance is below average and feel that if I can increase that to at least average than I should see some better quality scores. Any advice on how to do this with the competition? Normally, I just focus ads around the use of the keywords but since the keywords are brand names, I can't do that with these ads.

Does having redirects in a Adwords text ad destination URL hurt quality scores?
I recently noticed that one of my clients had several redirects in their Adwords text ad destination URLs. I updated the destination URLS to land on the final location (thereby losing all the text ad history). However I'm wondering if this could have any impact on the text ad quality scores (none of them were disapproved).

Adwords quality score is bull?
Is it me or is Google Adwords quality score a load of bull. I use part numbers as my keywords and have virtually the same landing page for each one. The only difference is the order of the paragraphs in my descriptions, the product attributes and the SKU. so why does one part get an 7 and the other a 5? Surely they should be the same?

Downtrodden Adwords Quality Scores -- Really?
Wow! 93% of our Adword keywords in our new campaign received a Quality Score of 4 or less. That means most of the keywords aren't showing. I received the quick answer from our Adwords advisor that, "Quality score is created from a variety of factors ... etc." Yes, I know that by reading Google's documentation. I dug deeper into the data. When I looked at keywords dashboard for this campaign, what vexes me is that it's all about "Keyword relevance: poor". That is repeated time and again in the keywords hover, bubble pop-up in Adwords. "Landing page quality: no problems". "Landing page load time: no problems". 63% of keywords have quality score = 3 29% of keywords have quality score = 4 We have thousands of keywords that are electronic part numbers. All keywords use phrase matching. We use dynamic keyword matching in the ads. I dug deeper. I chose random keywords (and corresponding landing pages) from lower quality scores (1,2,3,4) and higher scores (5,6,7,8,9,10). What is the difference? Examples: Quality score 1 = http://www.usbid.com/parts/LM2901 2 = http://www.usbid.com/parts/BZX84-A20 3 = http://www.usbid.com/parts/MAX4796 4 = http://www.usbid.com/parts/TMP302A 5 = http://www.usbid.com/parts/LTC4267-3 6 = http://www.usbid.com/parts/CAT1161LI-28-G 7 = http://www.usbid.com/parts/DS1216C 8 = http://www.usbid.com/parts/R10S-E1Y1-J5.0K 9 = http://www.usbid.com/parts/208M822-19B11 145785-000 10 = http://www.usbid.com/parts/TP3-PNEU-0.250 243362-000 Notice URLs with score 9 and 10 have url-encoded space (%20) -- just pointing it out. What is the difference between these pages that have such different quality score? And, interestingly enough, the majority of example keywords in the Urls above (LM2901, BZX84-A20, etc) have zero impressions and zero clicks thus far. Yes, the keywords have low traffic because this is exactly what people search for an purchase when making a B2B component buy. It's all about the exact part number. **I'd love specific suggestions of how to improve quality score of pages with a 3 or lower! ** Thanks kindly, Loren

Your site is in organic results for adwords keyword - improved quality score?
Let's say I am targeting a keyword "Blue Widgets Cityname" with an AdWords campaign. My SEO landing page is coming up in position #6 in the organic results for this keyword. Because I have my website in the organic search results, does my quality score automatically improve? Conversely, my quality score could go up because the organic search results facilitate a higher CTR for both the ads and the organic results. However, I am wondering if there is a quality score algorithmic component that automatically makes my quality score go up simply because the same domain I am targeting is in the organic results.

Is there any correlation between the on-page factors being complete in moz and having a good quality score in Adwords?
I've been optimizing the website for a few keywords we're targeting and I'm looking to improve the quality score for my Adwords landing pages. My on-page scoring is great, but my scores in Adwords are low. Ideas?
