Should "white label" sites be unique IP addresses?
-
My company is planning "white label" subsites with unique URLs.
Should these sites be unique IPs in order to use them for link building?
-
Hi,
Just to clarify - my company sells geo-location specific products that can usually only be sold to people living in the local country. The sites will therefore be something such as:
Widgets in Australia
Widgets in UK
Widgets in South Africa
Do you think having them be hosting on separate IPs be a high priority (currently they are scheduled to all be hosted on the same IP and changing the strategy will be one of those SEO vs R&D discussions)
-
Sara, I would strongly recommend to stay away from doing 30-40. That's a little too many. If you are doing sites like:
Red Widgets
Blue Widgets
Green Widgets
I would recommend them being combined into 1 Widget site, Widget.com/Red-Widgers, Widget.com/Blue Widgets and so on.
And considering this, if we are talking about 2-5, yes, it would make complete sense to host them on separate IPs.
I hope this helps.

They are more like satellite sites. We are starting with 2 sites but it will probably be about 30-40 within the next year.
-
Sara, are you talking about microsites/satellite sites or mini-sites intended to promote a specific set of products, contest, sweepstakes or a promotion ? How many sites are you talking about ?

When does updating site content affect SERPS?
Can any of you shine a light as to when updating content on a website had any effect on its 'general' placement in the search engines? I appreciate that for an online newspaper, it must be important, but has anyone noticed from theirs or a client's site that by not uploading i.e. product descriptions or articles in general, that their site has taken a hit?

[HTML Gurus] Is the only nofollow = rel="nofollow"?
From my knowledge only way an HTML link is nofollow is using rel="nofollow". I was wondering if you have a link , is there anything you can put OTHER than rel="nofollow" within the <a></a>tags that make a link nofollow?

Can't rank for a target key word "penalized?"
I've been trying to rank for the key word "kayak fishing" for my site www.yakangler.com. Last year when I started working on the SEO for my site I was on page 30 for Google search results so like the 300th result. After tweaking things on my site I managed to get to the second page but have since fallen all the way back to page 25-26 in the search results. I'm wondering if I'm penalized for this key word. I can't figure out why my site is ranking soooo badly for "kayak fishing" Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Recommended Length for a Companies "Services" Page Content
I am in the process of revamping my company's website. I do WordPress Development, Design, and SEO consulting, and i'm running into a sort of writer's block when wring my services pages. For example, my page on WordPress Security has 388 words of "body" content, and I feel from a content perspective, it serves it's purpose, but from an SEO perspective it is considered a little light. I really don't know what the SOP is here, because, I've literally seen competitors sites have a page on "WordPress Security" rank on the first page of Google with absolutely no content, an empty page. I see a lot of the Moz posts are huge, thosands of words, and I know they perform very well (and they also have ton's of links / PR...etc) and I just want to do the right thing. I know sites like http://www.seerinteractive.com/our-services/search-engine-optimization have relatively short info pages as well. Thanks in advance for your feedback. Keyword optimization of main keyword across site.
My site is optimized for keyword "payment gateway" but it seems for each keyword only one page should be optimized as per good SEO. So if I've a page about Paypal then how should I spread the keywords? Here the main will be Paypal and site keyword will be payment gateway. It means site should have more Paypal than payment gateway. But can payment gateway be in 3rd or 4th position in density? Similarly how should I create other pages? How search engines determine the site authority based on keyword? ( let us ignore the external backlinks, context of them and anchor texts).
