How does the "Update Listing" in the InComplete section of Moz Local work?
-
I know it takes you to the listing site. Do you then have to create an account and claim the listing and then update it there? Does claiming the listing lose the connection with Moz Local? I've been spending a lot of time claiming listings and wondering if that's correct or not.
Thanks Dana

Hi Dana (and hey Ruben!),
Thanks so much for asking about this! So, basically, the Moz Check Listing tool features 2 types of data:
1. Data about your listing on Moz Local's 7 supported partner sites. These supported partners are:
Infogroup, Acxiom, Nuestar/Localeze, Factual, Foursquare,Superpages, Best of the Web
2. Data about non-partner sites like Google, Facebook, Yelp, etc.
If you are a Moz Local customer (a paying customer, that is) then it is up to us to get your data correct on the 7 supported partner sites. You should not need to do anything, and shouldn't be trying to manually edit those listings.
For any non-partner site, yes, do go and manage it manually. So, let's say Check Listing reports that you've got an inconsistent business name on Yelp. Our tool is highlighting that this is something you might want to take steps to correct. If you'd like to do so, then you would need to go to your Yelp profile and make the necessary edits. If you don't happen to have a claimed profile with a certain site (like in the case of a listing having been automatically created) then, yes, you'd likely need to sign up, or verify, or what have you, to take control of that profile so that you could edit it.
Eventually, once you've manually edited one of these non-partner sites, Check Listing should pick it up. This will not be instantaneous. It will take time for a third party to push the data across their servers and for us to pick that up and positively reflect it in your completion score.
Hope this helps and please let me know if you have any additional questions!

Hi Dana,
From my understanding, here is how it works. MozLocal lists most of the major listing companies you need. They are partners with some of them, but not all of them. The one's they are not partners with, like hotfrog, will not update through MozLocal, so you have to manually do that. However, you will not lose your connection with the other listing companies Moz is partners with. Those would be the ones that have the green circles; they say "submitted, but not updated" when they are 1/2 full for example.
If any of this is wrong, fear not. Miriam will come by to clean this up, but I'm pretty sure it's right.
Good luck!
Ruben

How to Sync Hot Frog with Moz Listing score
Hi, I have a Client who owns two restaurant locations. And have been updating and verifying their listings while using Moz's Listing Scores to validate improvements. 1st Locations' Moz listing score can be found here: https://goo.gl/h17VZj 2nd Locations' score can be found here: https://goo.gl/ZnQMpi Both have Hot Frog Listings 1st Locations Hot Frog Account: https://www.hotfrog.com/business/nv/henderson/me-gusta-tacos_43095742 2nd Hot Frog Account https://www.hotfrog.com/business/nv/las-vegas/me-gusta-tacos One thing is that although I have created a Hot Frog account for the 1st location, the Hot Frog account does not propagate with Moz's Listing analysis. On the other hand, the Second Location's Moz Listing shows that there is indeed a Hot Frog Account Not sure why one shows up, while the other does not. ZaULBWm d8aPpbG

Multiple Locations + Incomplete "Facebook" Listing
Hi! I am in charge of multiple listings for the same business because they have many offices throughout the US. Upon submitting these different locations on Moz Local, I have now run into an issue where all of the listings are not registering their correct Facebook page. On Facebook I have created separate pages for each location (using their location manager tool), but I am unsure on how to connect this to Moz. I have tried submitting the URL of the Facebook page in the "Advanced" tab in the "edit" area, but this does not seem to solve the problem. Any idea on why this is happening, and if there is an easy fix? Thanks everyone!

Is there a way to transfer ownership of a Moz Local Listing to another account?
I have a past client who is interested in taking over the management of their own Moz Local account. I've looked through the resource material, but have not found any information on if it is possible to transfer ownership. Has anyone else had experience with this or know a solution? Thanks!

Moz Local doesn't have Categories for my clients business
Moz Local doesn't have Categories for my clients business, for that matter neither does Google Business: Using the Moz category tool- and Superpages, where we have been listed for a long time, the following categories have no MOZ local or Google Equivalent. Millwright CRATES & CRATING INDUSTRIAL PACKING & CRATING CRANES, HOISTING, & RIGGING SERVICES MACHINERY MOVERS & ERECTORS EXPORT CONSULTANTS RIGGERS EQUIPMENT & SUPPLIES this makes fitting into Local search very difficult at best. Since the Moving category is so crowded, and brings in 99 household moves to one legitimate industrial move or rigging jobs. So is it best just not to pay for Moz local? How do we get Moz Local and google to add these important industrial local categories?
