Improve rankings
-
Hello,
My website is www.polarpos.com I am trying to improve its ranking for "pos system" my main competitor is:
I have looked through their backlinks but they seem to be random, not many being particularly specific to "pos systems". So what can I do to better compete with this website regarding their keyword? Where can I get the backlinks to my website that would help it for that ranking and in what way?
-
The links on Moz Q&A are all nofollow, however.
-
Here's the Open Site Explorer link that shows external links to all pages of your competitor's domain:
Your competitor offers a lot more than just POS machines, and they have a lot of resources that appeal to a wide variety of sources. For example, they have a list of math games for elementary school that has gotten links from an .edu site.

How do I pull up the university and wallstreet links from the competitor? Cause I didn't see those and I am not sure how to use it with the moz tools.
I am not sure how they managed to get links onto university websites as there is nothing about pos that would interest a pos.

What you may think of as random, another person may think of as varied or natural-looking anchor text. I'm looking at the domains linking to your competitor, and they've been linked to from the Wall Street Journal, multiple universities, and other trusted sites. For your site, OSE is showing a fair number of backlinks from forums, no-follow links, and directory links.
I'd take a closer look at the sources of the backlinks. What did people find so valuable about your competitor that they decided to link to the competitor? Are there resources on their site that you don't have? Is there information you can give to a reporter to help explain POS systems?

Two tips I can give, the first one does not relate to SEO though, it is more of a bounce issue. Your slide does not scale correctly on a 720 monitor. I am on my chromebook and it gets cut off pretty bad.
The second is you need to make in roads into the communities that you support. I didn't see a back link in OSE coming from Magento, Open Cart, or Woo Commerce. I would contact them and see what it would take to get backlinks to your site and maybe a listing on their site.
I know people get down on forum posts, but I hold a different view, if it is relevant I feel forum posts work. I get several thousand visitors a month from forum posts that either I post, or that someone else has learned about from one of my posts and posts themselves. I would hang around the forums for the e=carts you support, maybe set up some google alerts for keywords like magento pos or opencart pos. Things like that. I will give you a heads up on where you can make posts. Then before you know it people will start making posts about your product.
On another note, have you thought about a Prestashop integration? I might be able to get you a little exposure if you make one.

The same page ranking twice in the top 10?
Whilst doing a SERP analysis for a particular phrase, i noticed that the same page is ranking twice in the top 10. I've known of the same domain ranking twice with different pages which makes sense but to see the exact same URL ranking twice is a new one for me. Has anyone seen this before too and know of reasons why this would happen?

How important is a keyword rich domain name for ranking?
I've read that Google has lowered the relevancy of a keyword rich domain name in recent years, but I have a scenario with a client that makes me think otherwise. My client has a particular phrase that they're trying to get rank for and are currently in position 3 of Google. Their primary competitor has position1. Using the Keyword Analysis in Moz Pro, my client has a competitor beat out in Page Authority (45 vs 36), # Root Domains Linking to Page (98 vs 9), Domain Authority (35 vs 24), and # Root Domains Linking to Domain (122 vs 15). The main difference is that the competitor has the exact phrase as part of their domain. Other than that, the phrase (on my client's site) is used in title tags, heading tags, and throughout page content. I can provide additional information if necessary, but does anybody have any general advice about this scenario?

Image attatched... How is it possible to rank on Google Norway for spot nr.1 (page in English language) and spot nr.2 (page in Norwegian language) , when all you competitors have higher PA, DA and a lot more backlinks and better on-page optimization according to MOZ? Is there something I´m misunderstanding?

Moz Rank Moz Trust and Authority higher than my competitor but still getting outranked
Hi There, I'm new to SeoMoz but ive been using it for the past month and I've been using the tools to try to optimize my site but for some reason even though my metrics are showing that my rank and authority are rising past my competitor they still rank higher in the searches. my website is the site on the far left with the domain authority @27. the competitor that keeps outranking me is the third from the left with a domain authority of 12. If anyone can advise as to why I'm being outranked that would be very helpful. I'm stumped here. Thanks guys! eYtMRr9.png

Majestic gives me a 24 situation and 24 trust flow. Seomoz just a total number of 7\. How come the difference? My ranking is still bad, so is Majestic crawling faster then google?
Hi, my total domain value number on SEOmoz is 7. In Majestic it is 24 situation and 24 trust flow. My ranking is still bad (page2) and my competitors have a lower trust/ situation flow in Majestic. But in Seomoz the're better. Is the conclusion that Majestic is more up to date then Google itself and that Seomoz is more inline with the google crawling? Because Majestic doesnt reflect my ranking. (ps I started with the domain for a month, and I only have some history in registration)

How can this website be ranking so well?!
This website: http://www.opensiteexplorer.org/domains?site=www.webuycarsyourway.com.au is ranking on page one for about 75% of a list of 300 car related keywords. They don't appear to have done any link building, no social media, appeared out of nowhere in April 2012 and SEMRush reports between 5,000 and 10,000 visitors per month. The only thing I can see is they have a landing page for every keyword with the keyword in the URL. But surely that can't be the only reason they're ranking well ? ?

Tool for finding what keywords a competitor ranks for?
Does anyone know of any good tools that display what keywords a competitor ranks for? I have many competitors that I know get a lot of traffic, but I'm not entirely sure where the traffic comes from so it would be nice to plug in their url and get a general overview of what keywords they rank for and what positions.
