Schema.org for restaurant menus
-
Hi i have looking into ways that i can apply shema.org formatting to a website that has a collection of restaurant menus.
I found related schema.org formats (eg recipes, reviews, products etc) though can not seem to find a format set out for menu items.
I am considering using the product format (http://schema.org/Product) for each menu item on a restaurant menu though not sure if this would add much value or not.
I was hoping Google when then know more about the data collected on the website and be able to show it more accurately to the end user when they are searching for this data (restaurant menu), with rich snippets in serp results.
Thanks in advance for your feedback.

Hi Adam,
I know this is an old thread but if you get this you might find it useful. I just checked a particular brewery site; they have their menu marked up with the url and it seems to be picked up by the rich snippets tool OK, although it does throw a few errors.I tested it on a few of my other tools and it definitely gets picked up without a problem.

Hi Adam,
Not sure how well this will work. It is also possible that the search engines may not display it as you wish.
There is however a format from Shema.org that might help. It is the Schema.org/Restaurant format. In it they list options for 'menu' where you can have the actual menu or a URL of the menu. Personally I would go with a URL link to your menu as it will get more visitors to your site, which is ultimately what you want.
Hope that helps,
Adam.

Influencing Sitelinks - Achievable with Schema or Solely Automated by Google
I'm looking to influence the sitelinks that appear under my main website. I found a Google article here about how to mark up the sitelinks: https://developers.google.com/search/docs/data-types/sitelinks-searchbox. Then I found another Google article about how the sitelinks are automated: https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/47334?hl=en. Which is it? Can I influence the sitelinks or not? And is there a maximum number? I can't find any up to date articles that are accurate, because most still reference the remove sitelinks tool in Google Search Console which is no longer available.

Where and how much; Schema best practices.
Couple of schema questions: Should I 'only' mark up the contact page, as this has the most information? What about the header and footer, should I tag everything there also? If I do mark up the header, footer, and contact page, I end up with 3 "LocalBusiness" entries in Google testing tool, is that bad?

Has anyone had issues with Bazaarvoice and schema.org?
About a year ago we started using Bazaarvoice to get reviews for our products, and it has been great as far as accumulating content, but Google is not taking the schema.org data and displaying it on the SERP. Someone has told me it is because we are offering multiple products, or that our schema.org tags are incorrect but when I compare our code to other travel sites it seems like everyone is doing something different. This is especially annoying since the Google schema markup check says everything is fine. Does anyone have any advice or similar experiences? Thanks.

Script for Schema
Does any one know of any script that can be written to generate schema on my product pages. I need something that would be compatible with a custom php website. Here is an example of what I am looking for, it's for Magento so I can't use it: http://www.magentocommerce.com/magento-connect/schema-org.html. Or, if you have any idea on how to do implement schema without doing it manually please let me know here! Thanks!

Opengraph or Schema.org - What is your preference?
Just wondering whether Mozzer's have a preference when marking up rich snippets. I have just added Opengraph as per a Whiteboard Friday presentation suggesting that Google will use the meta data as well as schema, mainly for purposes of socially sharing the website details, and I have also used Schema for marking up an address, telephone number, and email. Is this the right way to do things? What are your thoughts?

Schema Address Question
I have a local business with a contact page that I want to add schema markup to. However, I was wondering if having the address with schema info on the contact page instead of the home page has any adverse effects on the rich snippet showing up in search. There's no logical place to add schema for a local business on the home page, so having it on the contact page—not in the footer or sidebar—is the only option.
