This used to be recommended years ago when Google didn't have the crawling power they do now. Today Google does regular crawls everywhere, it is possible that submitting the URL may gain a day or so advantage, it just depends on how often Google crawls the particular site you acquired a link on. Obviously the more popular the site the more likely Google does frequent crawls.

Making the most of a good back link
Hi Guys. We recently acquired a really good backlink from a charity site that has high DA. 71/100 on Open site explorer. I understand traffic is also a key component in a backlinks value, not just the DA. Is it worth spending time and energy (we don't have much as it's the lead up to Christmas) encouraging people onto the blog post to hopefully get some extra traffic through that link? And more generally, how much does traffic effect the value of link? Any insights would be greatly appreciated 🙂 Isaac.

Starting SEO For My E-commerce Site?
Hey guys, So I'm starting SEO for my e-commerce furniture store and I'm a little confused. Right now the only links I have are from sponsored posts. How do I get links from other sources? What other sources are there besides sponsored posts? I submitted my site to Dmoz.org and I was also going to submit it to the Yahoo directory. I have contacted a few personal home decor blogs but have not heard back from those people. Could someone steer me in the right direction. Thanks a ton!

What is an example of good anchor text?
Hi, I'm sorry to ask yet another question but the advice I get here is always so accurate and friendly that it's almost addictive. After Penguin I'm constantly thinking about what looks natural to Google. With regards to link building I can't really envisage any situations where natural anchor text would be anything other than either the name of our company or 'click here'. The only exception to this I would have thought would be if a customer was referring to a particular product on our site. Even in this situation I would have thought they'd have said 'I bought my cheap cartridges at Refresh Cartridges' with the company name still being used as the anchor rather than 'cheap cartridges'. I think if we're stripping it down to what works best from a human rather than search engine perspective then using 'cheap cartridges' rather than the company name would be just a little odd. Therefore my question is whether, when link building, I should just use my company name for all anchor text rather than trying to artificially mix it up to make it look ‘natural’. While I could vary the anchor text by saying 'cheap this', 'high quality that' and playing around with the text, almost certainly when used in context with whatever I am writing this would look unnatural no matter how many combinations I used. Is this correct or would my overuse of the company name make what should be a natural looking linking strategy look unnatural and harm results by not conveying the potential content of the page by using targeted anchor text. Could I be the victim of negative SEO?
While I was searching for bad links to one of my website, I realized that there were lots of backlinks from trackbacks on various blogs. Most of these trackback links are definitely spammy as they are not relevant with the blog topics and they use exact anchor text. The thing is that I am 300% sure that it has nothing to do with any SEO campaign services I've bought in the past. They link back to pages I've never optimized at all. So could I be the victim of a negative SEO campaign? What do you think?

I have a really good article, now what?
Hi guys, New guy to SEO and new site, need some help. I've got a really good article (Deal Guide: How to Pay $50/mo (or nothing) for Unlimited Everything on AT&T), a few days old and it's already going viral on StumbleUpon and is getting shared on Facebook and Tweeted. My question is, now what? What can I do to boost it's value? I feel like I should be doing something to further push my article and build recognition for my new website. Should I run a Facebook sponsored story and further increase "likes" and shares? Blog/Forum commenting? I've done a little bit of this but there's so many iPhone 4s articles out there, that I don't know where to start. Should I be hitting the high PR pages? How can I find out if comments are follow/no-follow? Any other ideas?
