Link Removal
-
Hi - We have been trying to remove bad links for about 12 months.
QUESTION: How can be eliminate backlinks from sites are not possible to contact?
Background:
- Contacted as many domain administrators as we could. Not a big change. Some want $$$
- Submitted 3 disavow lists (3 months apart from each other). Last list was to remove all links.
We still have a large number of Japanese and Chines links directories pointing to us that we cannot contact or don't know how to ask to be removal.
One key thing to keep in mind, is that we don't want to change the URL.
Thanks, for the help.

And to you as well! Sorry if I was blunt and no disrespect intended.
If you decide to keep the url then you will need to build new quality links. Even after disavowing the bad links you will not rank if you don't get good links going forward. Check out these guides http://moz.com/blog/the-noob-guide-to-link-building http://pointblankseo.com/link-building-strategies http://www.makemoneyninja.com/the-ultimate-guide-to-link-building/
The good news is you can save the url but it will be more time consuming.
Good luck!

Hi Chris 661.
Happy Thanksgiving. Thanks for the reply.

I looked at your backlinks and honestly, you should consider starting over with a new url. Just my opinion but I didn't see one actual link worth keeping and lots of spammy links. And you should consider getting some professional help and see what their recommendation would be.
I think that would be your most expedient solution.
Best,

Google has stated that you should never pay to have a link removed. Here is a good resource of videos from Google employees stating this: http://www.hiswebmarketing.com/should-you-pay-for-link-removal/
If you have tried to remove the link, and the webmaster has made it difficult and/or impossible, then I would turn to the disavow tool. As others have said, it won't remove the link from the internet, but it won't pass PageRank onto your site in the future, and therefore should in theory no longer be construed by Google as you actively participating in a link scheme (the sort of thing that gets you penalized).
If you want, you can add notes to your disavow file to explain why you had to disavow a particular site. The process for doing that is shown here: https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/2648487?hl=en

Hi Chris661,
Thanks for reply. What I don't understand is that the numbers of domains (and links) has not changed dramatically since I submitted the disavow ALL list on Oct 3. Whatever it takes to clean house and recover our business. For the key words "machu picchu tours" we used to be on page 1 in Google, now we don't even show on page 50.

Submitting a disavow list to Google will not eliminate the links. It is a request for Google to ignore the links and has been described as Google will see the link as "nofollow". It is fine that you are disavowing Domains! Exact links are not required and in the case of directories or scrapers, it's a good idea to disavow at the domain level in case more links "pop up". One thing to note is when you say you submitted 3 lists, they should be cumulative. When adding links to your disavow list you should append the list keeping the previous links in the list.
Also assuming you are disavowing because you are concerned about your rankings in Google. When you say you disavowed "all links", I hope you meant all bad links!
-
That may be why they are not going away. When using the disavow tool, you need to find the exact link from that domain where the link is placed, and then disavow that linked page.

Thank you Donford...

Okay, I know there are some people here with much better experience then I with removing / disavowing links. I have been fortunate not to get caught up in the old black hat tricks that lead the industry to this point.
I wish you the best of luck
-
For all 3 disavow list, just the domains.
-
Sorry. Added question. Tks for noticing.

Hi highlandadventures,
Not at all trying to be rude here but, did you have a question?
-
Are you disavowing the exact links or just the domains?

Multiple links from same domain (different pages) considered in credibility of backlinks?
Hi, Let's say there are multiple backlinks from different pages of same domain to different pages of other domain like below: Website A: Page 1 -----------> Website B: Page 1 Website A: Page 2 -----------> Website B: Page 2 Do the pages of Website B pages will get backlinks authority equally or they don't get much backlinks impact as they have multiple backlinks from same domain? There were old school stories that Google ignores second link from same domain.....etc... So, please suggest on this. Thank you. Note: The question is NOT about content relevancy or domain authority score of the backlinks.

Tens of duplicate homepages indexed and blocked later: How to remove from Google cache?
Hi community, Due to some WP plugin issue, many homepages indexed in Google with anonymous URLs. We blocked them later. Still they are in SERP. I wonder whether these are causing some trouble to our website, especially as our exact homepages indexed. How to remove these pages from Google cache? Is that the right approach? Thanks

Linking from high ranking sub domain pages to less ranking main domain pages to benefit latter
Hi all, We have our product guide pages on sub domain which are years old, so have some backlinks and high ranking for the beand related queries. Now we created new guide pages on our main website and we want these new pages to rank top beating the old pages from sub domain. Again we can't deindex or rel canonical to solve the issue as there are some part of users still using the old pages. We are planning to give a link from every old page of sub domain to same new page on main domain. Will this linking increases the authority of new pages technically and helps in ranking better? Like we give a link to "Moz guide 1" page to "Moz guide 2" page to rank latter better. Thanks

Proactively Use GWT Removal Tool?
I have a bunch of links on my site from sexualproblems.net (not a porn site, it's a legit doctor's site who I've talked to on the phone in America). The problem is his site got hacked and has tons of links on his homepage to other pages, and mine is one of them. I have asked him multiple times to take the link down, but his webmaster is his teenage son, who doesn't basically just doesn't feel like it. My question is, since I don't think they will take the link down, should I proactively remove it or just wait till I get a message from google? I'd rather not tell google I have spam links on my site, even if I am trying to get them removed. However, I have no idea if that's a legitimate fear or not. I could see the link being removed and everything continuing fine or I could see reporting the removal request as signaling a giant red flag for my site to be audited. Any advice? Ruben

Our company is mentioned on some high-traffic, authoritative sites and some of our products are linked as well. If we link to those pages, does it affect our SEO? How can we take advantage of those mentions?
I heard that if you link to another site, when Google indexes your site, they crawl that page that is referenced. By whatever metrics they use, if that site has your name or a link to your site, Google would rank it higher. I am not sure how true that is, but what value does another site mentioned our site have on our SEO?

Difference between Google's link: operator and GWT's links to your sites
I haven't used the Google operator link: for a while, and I noticed that there is a big disparity between the operator "link:" and the GWT's links to your site. I compared these results on a number of websites, my own and competitors, and the difference seem to be the same across the board. Has Google made a recent change with how they display link results via the operator? Could this be an indication that they are clean out backlinks?
