GA Event: to use this feature visit: EVENT-TRACKING.COM
-
Hi guys,
Two days ago our Google Analytics Event tracker began to show this Event/Label, etc.
I cannot find its source. Anybody knows what is this about?
Thanks for your answers. Ana

Thanks very much, Envoy! :)))))))

been seeing many others in the industry complain lately about referrer spam getting out of control. And found it in my own site's analytics today. Quick search brought me here. So thank you Analia for posting the question, and thank you Envoy for the link on how to deal with it since .htaccess won't work in this case!
-
I also got this on a client site. Thanks for the advice

Thanks a lot Michael. Very useful article!
-
Just saw it in one of my accounts for the first time today.
Here is a good article about removing it with a hostname filter: http://www.ohow.co/stop-www-event-tracking-com-referral-spam/
Good luck!

Oh bummer! In that case, it's like that evil ghost spam crud.
We haven't seen that URL as event spam yet but only as referral spam. Only a matter of time... ugh.

Unfortunately that's not going to work. I removed the tracking code yesterday and guess what - I had 30 visits & 3 events measured today. These false measures are not generated on the site so blocking them in htaccess is not going to work.

We're seeing a lot of spam referrals from this url as well.
I recommend adding it to your .htaccess file. There's no reason to even let spam from that source mess with your website or stats.

Thanks Dirk. I think I can deal with the false event in my reports. I'm glad it's not a hack in our website code.
Thanks again for your help. I appreciate it.

Analia,
It seems to be a new kind of analytics spam - just checked an analytics account for a site which is under construction (only one page - no real visitors & no events set-up).
I saw the same event appearing in my stats. Others see the same thing as well: http://www.redcardinal.ie/general/07-05-2015/just-when-you-thought-ga-referrer-spam-was-bad/Not sure how these clean these events from the reporting.

Thanks Martijn. The brower is (not set), weird. This is the first time I see an event we have not set in GA. My concern is about website security, can this be somebody hacking our website's code or it's just a GA problem?
-
Hi Ana,
Check the browser + version that they're using. Our analytics set up also includes very weird events that we never set.

Do custom tracking codes affect indexing?
Hello, My company uses a tracking system that allows our employees to apply a short code snippet to the end of our URLs for marketing attribution. An example of such a code would be: https://www.schoolofmotion.com/?ref_id=moz-test However, in Google Analytics we are seeing duplicates of our content, where the pages with the individual tracking codes are counted separately from the pages without. From a reporting perspective, this is annoying and definitely worth a fix. However, I'm curious if this problem is affecting our search potential as well. Could this tracking system be splitting traffic in Google's eyes? From an SEO perspective, how should we approach this? Would canonical tags fix this duplication issue in Google Analytics? Is there something else that we should use? Thanks in advance. The Moz community is incredible.

The best way to track internal links in Google Analytics
Hi there, we are a retail business and we have invested in quality editorial content which sits in our Blog at ourwebsite.co.uk/blog/ The Blog links to the main site (an online store) and I want to track the 'value' of the blog by how many clicks the blog content generates back to the main store. At the moment we're using this code on the end of every link in the Blog: ?utm_source=Blog&utm_medium=Widget&utm_campaign=FromBlog Does this affect SEO and is there a better way of doing it? Thanks.

Goal Tracking In Analytics On Separate Ordering Website
I have a question for any Google Analytics wizards out there. We have two clients that have a similar complication when it comes to tracking goal conversions in Analytics. Basically, all the conversion actions we want to track occur on a separate website; either an iframe embedded on the page or through an entirely different ordering website. Trick is, Analytics sees the source for all these conversions as referrals from the main site. We'd like to get visibility back to the original source/medium that brought visitors to the site before they converted. Anyone have a suggestion for making that happen?

Tracking Social Media Logged In Users Help
Hi, I recently read Tom Anthony's post on "Monitor Which Social Networks Your Visitors are Logged Into With Google Analytics". I have looked and re-looked at the code implemented and after two days I am still not getting any results tracking. Could somebody please take a look at my site and tell me if they see any conflicts or errors I may have made when installing the code. Thanks for any help!

Track Individual Organic Orders In Google Analytics
I was wondering if there is a way to track information about the individual order in google analytics. Currently I can see all of the organic traffic, rev, transactions, etc, but I would like to be able to know what those individual order numbers are, as well as be able to place test orders to see if organic tracking is correctly working. Does anyone know of a good blog walkthrough for this, or have any suggestions? Thanks (again individual organic order data not all data from a specific search engine or keyword).

Google Analytics: how many visits from country Google domains?
Hello, I manage a site with visitors from many different countries. With Google Analytics, it is normal to see the number of visitors from each search engine. However, I would like to identify the number of visitors from each Google-search contry domain. How many visitors from Google.com? How many from Google.co.uk. And from Google.co.zm? And so on. Anybody knows if this is possible and if yes, how can it be done? Thank you in advance, Dario
