Google Rich Snippet
-
So i have been implementing rich snippets for work and all has been good until now, As you can see below the meta description has all of a sudden included the review date.
The review date is the only date on the page. Any ideas what could be causing this?
Thanks

David,
I can see the frustration. It would appear to a searcher on Google that the page for this class hasn't been updated since 2013 because Google is using the Schema markup you have around the review, which is:
A quick fix that could help until you get this figured out would be to change the published date on the review to a more recent date in 2015.
I do see that you have placed the "datePublished" markup within the Schema.org/review container, but Google seems to be interpreting it not just that way, but also as if it was on it's own to describe the entire page. In other words, it seems to be treated like this: https://schema.org/datePublished .
I see that you have itemtypes for an offer, dates, reviews... but not one for the page itself. Perhaps just below the HTML header of that page you could define the web page's publish date using this itemtype: https://schema.org/WebPage.
It would would begin with:
itemscopeitemtype="http://schema.org/WebPage">And would contain:
<meta< span="">itemprop="datePublished"content="2015-01-01"> (or whatever the real publish date is)</meta<>And would cover the entire page down to:
Another option could be to go with JSON-LD instead.

Still no luck guys, 2 dates are still shown

Just realised i am using https://data-vocabulary.org/Review and not schema.org so i will have to change it all and wait and see thanks

Thanks I will give that a shot tomorrow and fetch and submit it and let you know my finding
Thanks

Hi there
My bad, I misread and didn't see the second date. That's a good question, for some reason it looks like the crawlers are considering that the date of the page itself.
I would try changing that line of code to **itemprop="datePublished" content="2013-12-12" **- this would be more in line with what Google/Schema puts forth as best practices.
Try that and see if the date changes on your snippet.
Hope this helps! Good luck!

Thanks for the reply
Yeah that date is the markup for the review my question is why is it showing 2 times in the organic add when the date is only for the review, it is showing in the meta description also
Thanks

Hi there
You have a markup on that date at line 519...
Is this what you wanted it to be? You can use the Structured Data Testing Tool using your URL to see what markup Google sees. Just click "Fetch URL", paste your URL, and click "Fetch & Validate". What Google finds will populate.
Hope this helps! Good luck!

Google Answer Box
I optimized several pages using Rand's post on Google Answer Box: https://moz.com/blog/how-to-appear-in-googles-answer-boxes-whiteboard-friday How long after the page is indexed should it appear? Lastly, how long should I wait before determining it will not get an answer box and reconfigure the page? No bad answers 🙂 TY KJr

Can I just replay a backup within wordpress to regain my google ranking from yesterday?
Hi, yesterday I had a wonderful ranking for the website I do SEO for. The site is pretty still new (online since about one week). Around 11 am yesterday we ranked pretty good and challenged some local sites within the insurance business. Then I made a mistake and stuffed a part of a mail (full of keywords and comments) that was sent to me into an alt-tag of an image. Unfortunatelly it took me around 2 or 3 hours to notice. Before fixing the issue I made some other SEO changes and the site dropped on different keywords on google. Now it practically disappeared from the results… 😞 Does it make sense to just play back a backup from around 11 am yesterday or will google penalize so much going back and forth… (Meanwhile title-tag has been changed, an some alt-attributes, one of three H1s on the page to make it fit more to the title) Best regards Marc

Is the HTML content inside an image slideshow of a website crawled by Google?
I am building a website for a client and i am in a dilemma whether to go for an image slideshow with HTML content on the slides or go for a static full size image on the homepage. My concern is that HTML content on the slideshow may not get crawled by Google and hence may not be SEO friendly.

Google Map Marker not showing up when using HTML Embed Code
Hi community, For several clients, when embedding the Google Maps, the Marker DOES NOT appear. I am copying straight from Google Maps, it appears fine in Google Maps. Is there HTML I can add or is there something wrong with the map marker to begin with? These are verified listings. Help! Thank you! Priscilla

How to optimize Google Places listing?
I have a couple friends who need more traffic from their Google Places listing. They are in very niche businesses. One is a home remodeling contractor and one is a music teacher. Does anyone know some good services to help optimize their listings? I feel I've helped them out as much as I can by getting real reviews to their Google Places page. But I feel that someone who's had the experience in Google Places optimization can pick up on something I'm overlooking.

Will Google Custom Search results on my home page kill it's ranking?
This is probably a dumb question, but here goes anyway. 🙂 On a site I have it would be very useful to the reader to offer a search box that uses a Google Custom Search that I have optimized to search websites that are closely on-topic with my site. I know it sounds bad that I would send people to other sites, but just assume that the reasons are valid for this discussion. My question is, if the search results are set to display on the same page (the home page) as the search box, will the links in the search results to external sites just bleed my page rank to death? I assume it would, but thought I'd check just in case I'm missing something. I have to option to place the results on separate page of my site, and noindex it, but it won't be as powerful as it would be on the home page.

What are the best practices for google indexing ajax response urls?
We just did a build to our site and our server erros went up to over 9,500. After looking into it, it seems like google is crawling the ajax urls and coming back with the errors. Here is one example http://www.rockymountainatvmc.com/productDetail.do?navType=type&vehicleId=1423&webTypeId=68&navTitle=Drive&webCatId=9&prodFamilyId=29660 If you know of any good articles on this please send them my way.

Can't find Text-Only Cached version in Google search
Hi, I'm trying to view the text-only of a webpage to run a SEO audit, however Google does not give me this option. When i click the two arrows that appear to the right of a search result, the only option I get is Cached. Is there a reason this might be happening? I've tried clearing my cookies, signing out of Google, and anything else I could find on my troll of the internet. I also tried text, only please! however whether this works or not is debatable considering it shows me actual pictures on the site. Any ideas, or maybe another add-on that will work?
