Duplicate Page Content
-
Hello,
After crawling our site Moz is detecting high priority duplicate page content for our product and article listing pages,
For example http://store.bmiresearch.com/bangladesh/power and http://store.bmiresearch.com/newzealand/power are being listed as duplicate pages although they have seperate URLs, page titles and H1 tags. They have the same product listed but I would have thought the differentiation in other areas would be sufficient for these to not be deemed as duplicate pages.
Is it likely this issue will be impacting on our search rankings? If so are there any recommendations as to how this issue can be overcome.
Thanks

If the pages don't fall within the international element of the site, or aren't covered by HREFLANG, then look at the pages that are being caught as duplication. Are they required pages? Are they there just as filler content / doorway pages? Could the pages be noindexed? Is there an opportunity to set a canonical for them to avoid duplication?

Thanks for the replies!
That's correct - we have listings to suit the needs of our campaigns for our various target audiences. As we generate reports for over 200 countries across 24 sectors this can be quite vast. The issue Moz has highlighted are on our listings/filter pages rather than our product description pages.

Hi Carl,
Am I right in assuming that you have http://store.bmiresearch.com/newzealand/power & http://store.bmiresearch.com/bangladesh/power to try and satisfy results in those countries?
If you want to avoid duplication issues, you need to be implementing an international SEO strategy and make use of HFREFLANG.
Here are a few resources that I would suggest you have a read though.
However, don't worry if after this is done that they are picked up as duplication because that will just be MOZ notifying you of the pages rather than actually saying it's an issue.
I hope these help

Google has been killing cookie-cutter pages (and websites) like these for at least ten years. The pages might get indexed but Google will drop them within a short time.
Today, the Panda algo will also kill any website with lots of pages like these.
If you want to sell similar products like these, every page on your website must be written to be unique and substantive. Any shortcuts will ruin your chances for success. In addition to Google's problems with these pages, the potential buyer does not get nearly enough information to spend $x,xxx.

Because your both pages have exactly same description, it's likely to show duplicate content issue.
It will work against your SEO & it may impact your search engine rankings as well, You should either write fresh description for every page, not just change country & keep the description same.

Duplicate Content Brainstorming
Hi, New here in the SEO world. Excellent resources here. We have an ecommerce website that sells presentation templates. Today our templates come in 3 flavours - for PowerPoint, for Keynote and both - called Presentation Templates. So we've ended up with 3 URLS with similar content. Same screenshots, similar description.. Example: https://www.improvepresentation.com/keynote-templates/social-media-keynote-template https://www.improvepresentation.com/powerpoint-templates/social-media-powerpoint-template https://www.improvepresentation.com/presentation-templates/social-media-presentation-template I know what you're thinking. Why not make a website with a template and give 3 download options right? But what about https://www.improvepresentation.com/powerpoint-templates/ https://www.improvepresentation.com/keynote-templates/ These are powerfull URL's in my opinion taking into account that the strongest keyword in our field is "powerpoint templates" How would you solve this "problem" or maybe there is no problem at all.

Added 301 redirects, pages still earning duplicate content warning
We recently added a number of 301 redirects for duplicate content pages, but even with this addition they are still showing up as duplicate content. Am I missing something here? Or is this a duplicate content warning I should ignore?

How to avoid duplicate content on internal search results page?
Hi, according to Webmaster Tools and Siteliner our website have an above-average amount of duplicate content. Most of the pages are the search results pages, where it finds only one result. The only difference in this case are the TDK, H1 and the breadcrumbs. The rest of the layout is pretty static and similar. Here is an example for two pages with "duplicate content": https://soundbetter.com/search/Globo https://soundbetter.com/search/Volvo Edit: These are legitimate results that happen to have the same result. In this case we want users to be able to find the audio engineers by 'credits' (musicians they've worked with). Tags. We want users to rank for people searching for 'engineers who worked with'. And searching for two different artists (credit tags) returns this one service provider, with different urls (the tag being the search parameter) hence the duplicate content. I guess every e-commerce/directory website faces this kind of issue. What is the best practice to avoid duplicate content on search results page?

Issue: Duplicate Page Content > Wordpress Comments Page
Hello Moz Community, I've create a campaign in Moz and received hundreds of errors, regarding "Duplicate Page Content". After some review, I've found that 99% of the errors in the "Duplicate Page Content" report are occurring due to Wordpress creating a new comment page (with the original post detail), if a comment is made on a blog post. The post comment can be displayed on the original blog post, but also viewable on a second URL, created by Wordpress. http://www.Example.com/example-post http://www.Example.com/example-post/comment-page-1 Anyone else experience this issue in Wordpress or this same type of report in Moz? Thanks for your help!

Duplicate Content - Products
When running a report it says we have lots of duplicate content. We are a e-commerce site that has about 45,000 sku's on the site. Products can be in multiple departments on the site. So the same products can show up on different pages of the site. Because of this the reports show multiple products with duplicate content. Is this an issue with google and site ranking? Is there a way to get around this issue?

Uservoice and Duplicate Page Content
Hello All, I'm having an issue where the my UserVoice account is creating duplicate page content (image attached). Any ideas on how to resolve the problem? A couple solutions we're looking into: moving the uservoice content inside the app, so it won't get crawled, but that's all we got for now. Thank you very much for your time any insight would be helpful. Sincerely,

Duplicate content and tags
Hi, I have a blog on posterous that I'm trying to rank. SEOMoz tells me that I have duplicate content pretty much everywhere (4 articles written, 6 errors at the last crawl). The problem is that I tag my posts, and apparently SEOMoz thinks that it's duplicate content only because I don't have so many posts, so pages end up being very very similar. What can I do in these situations ?
