Why would a website rank lower than weaker site?
-
Hi,
Today I noticed that my website is ranking one place lower than a competitor in Google UK ,despite my site having a stronger domain authority and page authority. Is there a plausible reason for this, i'm slightly confused?
Thanks,
-
The Metrics you see in SEOMOZ (and really any other SEO Tool suite) is just a combination of a few of the variables within the Google Algortithm
It is attempting to emulate the algorithm, but with thousands of less data points.
So to say that just because you have a better "Score" that you will rank higher for every term is impossible to say based off of SEOMOZ data.
Possible Reasons -
Better on page SEO for given keyword
Better Author rank/Trust in Keyword Niche
You could have a penalty for that keyword or phrase
The list could go on and on, but the best thing in my opinion is to not concentrate on how your opponent is beating you, but concentrate on creating more genuine user interest/buzz around your site/product/service

Hi,
First of all I wanna tell you that GOOGLE is making us confused I was also searching for any strong reason for such results. I am giving you an example. I search for "buffalo web design" in Google US search and found a domain "http://www.buffalo-website-design.com/" having poor domain authority, google pr / alexa rank but was there at 2nd position despite the domain name was a keyword, Google was giving it a position.
I agree that Domain Authority/Google PR/Alexa Rank are some core factors to measure any website rank and those factors are still performing but sometimes strange results make us confuse and the is the key of Google's success.

Filter Tracking works fine at staging site but not on LIVE site why?
Hello Expert, For my ecommerce site I want to track filter url's like price range, size, width, color etc and fully filter url should display in google analytic. I have implemented filter tracking at staging server and it works perfectly but on LIVE site it not show me full filter url. Do you guys think any parameter which i have configured in search console affect this? Note - I have configured in this way - http://webmasters.stackexchange.com/questions/93008/how-to-track-a-product-filter-in-the-product-list-view-with-google-analytics My filter url's are given below. And in search console I have configure two parameters. 1) effect - Sort, Crawl - No urls 2) FT - effect- ( - ) , crawl - Let google bot decide. But as per me this parameter is for crawling should not affect tracking right? mysite.com?FP=0&filtSeq=Price&Sort=BS

mysite.com?FT=1042&filtSeq=Colour&Sort=BS In robot file nothing is block. In analytic it showing me url till mysite.com only where as in staging it shows me full filter url. Thanks!0 -
Local site rankings have dropped off first page but Universal went up.
My site was performing first page locally on 6 of 20 keywords, and universally on 3 of 20 keywords. We started a link building campaign and optimization about 3 weeks ago. When I looked at the rankings today I was happy to see that 16 of 20 keywords were in the top 20 rankings universally, but not happy to see that only 1 of the 25 words were ranking locally now. I lost my local ranking on 5 very important keywords. I realize that you can not rank first page for both local and organic but its as if I traded my first page local ranking for a universal ranking that appears lower on the page. Maybe someone could point me in the right direction.

Why such a high page rank with so low metrics in OSE
Hi,
Reporting & Analytics | | sebastiankoch
The website is:
www.s123parka123ble.com (remove the 123) All websites I have ever seen with similar metrics in OSE have normally a PR of 2 or 3 or max 4. This one is PR 5 and I would like to know why. I also noticed that they do not redirect the urls without www. to www. Which is normally bad ... can it be good for some reason in this case? It is PR 5 since a long time I just can´t get why it is PR 5. Please have a look. Thanks!0 -
Google Analytics Site Search to new sub-domain
Hi Mozzers, I'm setting up Google's Site Search on a website. However this isn't for search terms, this will be for people filling in a form and using the POST action to land on a results page. This is similar to what is outlined at http://support.google.com/analytics/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=1012264 ('<a class="zippy zippy-collapse">Setting Up Site Search for POST-Based Search Engines').</a> However my approach is different as my results appear on a sub-domain of the top level domain. Eg.. user is on www.domain.com/page.php user fills in form submits user gets taken to results.domain.com/results.php The issue is with the suggested code provided by Google as copied below.. Firstly, I don't use query strings on my results page so I would have to create an artificial page which shouldn't be a problem. But what I don't know is how the tracking will work across a sub-domain without the _gaq.push(['_setDomainName', '.domain.com']); code. Can this be added in? Can I also add Custom Variables? Does anyone have experience of using Site Search across a sub-domain perhaps to track quote form values? Many thanks!

If I am changing my domain for my website and want to keep using the same Google Analytics account to keep the data from the old domain. How should I proceed?
If I am changing my domain for my website and want to keep using the same Google Analytics account to keep the data from the old domain. How should I proceed? Do I have to start a new Google Analytics account for the new domain? If so how do I keep the old data? Or can I use the same GA account? Thank you.

Is it Possible to request G-WMT Resend emails pertaining to a certain website?
After being added as an administrator of a G-WMT profile, there are no messages from Google in the profile, however the first administrator has a number of messages. Is it possilble to request Google resends these emails so that I get them as well? I have looked around, and assume its not possible, but was wondering if someone had experienced this before and knew of a workaround. Greg

SEOmoz ranking off
In my last SEOmoz rankings update one of my keywords went from 1 to not in the top 50. This keyword is my brand name. It makes no sense that SEOmoz would say that it ranks not in the top 50 when I went to check it out on Google, we're still ranked number 1. I thought that this was very odd that the ranking would be so off. Has anyone else has this issue. uALPO uALPO.png

Why is this website with worse metrics performing better on serps?
Hi! I would like to ask if anyone has any ideas on why the second website in this analysis is getting position 2 on google and website 1 is getting position 5: http://www.opensiteexplorer.org/comparisons?site=bonobetfair.info&comparisons[0]=www.bonobetfair.com&=Compare The metrics indicate that the first website is clearly superior in (almost) all metrics. Why could this be?
