Adword San Francisco Reach number

Hello,
I have noticed in Adwords, when I select San Francisco or San Francisco county as a location for the campaign, it shows the reach as 7,220,000
Now I know that reach may be different from census data and depends largely on number of google signed-in users. But this number is waaay of. According to census there are only about 850,000 people in SF county, lets add as much that commute to SF for work, then we still have only 1,700,000 - not even close to 7,220,000 google is reporting.
Also note that for the rest of the Bay Area counties the Adwords reach numbers match very closely census data.
Any ideas?

AdWords reach numbers have been known to be a little wonky, for another good example of this look no further than Central Park, NY (Zip code 10024, AdWords Criteria ID #9004077) which says the reach is 10MM, but we need to realize that there is much more than just census data factoring into this number. Google also uses:
- Number of accounts used per person
- Number of temporary visitors to a geographic location.
- Length of time each person spends on a website.
- Number of signed-in users.
So using the above + census data is how Google came to the 7,220,000 number.
It's also important to realize & remember that positive location targeting has 3 options:
- People in my targeted location
- People searching for or viewing pages about my location
- People in, searching for, or viewing pages about my targeted location (Default)
Remember these and use them to more accurately target your campaigns.
TL;DR: I wouldn't sweat the size of your 'reach' number. Monitor the campaign, specifically on the Campaign>Settings>Locations>View location reports>Where your users were (user locations). This will give you a feel for whether your targeting settings are where they need to be.

When you add a location to an Adword campaign, if you go for a specific location it would show you the reach statistics. Reach statistics suppose to give you an idea of how many potential customers(from this geographic area) may potentially see your ad. This reach data is suppose to just show an approximate number of regularly logged-in google users. Again this is shown before you add any keywords to the campaign and for the rest of the Bay Area counties the Adwords reach numbers match very closely census data.

Hi Max,
What kind of targeting are we talking about here next to the data on San Francisco? Because I get a feeling that some of the data can be mixed up here + also represent that the keywords you're looking for might be searched multiple times in a month. Reach usually is not the unique amount of people but the number of times you can reach certain individuals.

Search Volume, Organic Rankings and Adwords
Hi, I hope you can help. And if this has been answered before, I apologise. Just spent two hours searching but couldnt find much at all. So I have this website, and it ranks in the top 10 for around 150 keywords. Its fairly niche market for targeting the UK market, but subject is for a local area, its got a good optimised site, no link issues, works well, good UI etc. Problem I have is this. It used to get a fair amount of organic traffic a few years ago to generate around 30 leads a day, and back then that was from just one keyword. Today, we may get one a lead a day from organic even though we rank for a lot more keywords and our exposure all round is good. However, we also pay for adwords to make up for the lost leads, the same keywords we are ranking for organically! So we bid on adwords and get our 30 leads with the same keywords and monthly search volume as we have organically, yet we dont get any leads for those keywords organically. So Adwords produces leads, organic doesn't, but they are the same keywords and rank next to each other. How does that work? So my question is, why do our organic keywords that rank just under the adwords that we bid for, with the same monthly searches, only give us 1 lead a day (when they used to give us 30) and adwords now give us 30 leads a day? Broad Match Modifier - Adwords Experts
Hi All, Looking for a little feedback from anyone running/managing ppc campaigns. I'm trying to decide if Broad Match Modifier search terms are actually helping. I see many instances where they have a low quality score, high cpc and low CTR. This leads to me think that these terms are actually bringing all my other ads down due to these negative signs. I have most search terms as "Phrase Match" and [Exact Match] so i'm not sure why i need the Broad Match + Modifier terms as well. Looking for some advice from the experts ... Do you guys agree with my assessment and what is your overall opinion on the usefulness of Broad Match Modifier terms. Thanks

Should You Buy Your Name in Adwords?
While I definitely see the pros to buying your name in Adwords, should you still do this if you have a small monthly budget? I get why large companies like Tiffany's would buy their name because they have the excessive funds to do so in addition to buying keywords. Any guidance or strategy on this?

Adwords keyword vs exact match kw
Hi guys, I have been using an excellent script that showed me the keywords I was bidding on and the keywords they were matched on by Adwords. I now have multiple questions: Does anyone have another script that gives me the same results? Has anyone seen an announcement on why Google has changed this? Google Adwords Conversion Tracking - Recording Wrong Page
Hi Guys I have a problem with my Google Adwords conversion tracking. Basically whenever I check to see which page it is recording, it shows me the incorrect one. Now I probably checked a thousand time now and the conversion tracking code is not on this specific page, but is on the one that I really want to track. I have also checked that the code is correct and that there is nothing missing. But strangely enough when I look at historical data, it does show that is was tracking conversions on the correct page, but for some reason the past couple of weeks it's reporting conversions from another page, which is the incorrect one. If somebody could please give me some insight as to what could maybe be the cause of this, I would appreciate it. Thank You Dave

AdWords question on text ads
Hey all, I have a certain format I want to follow on my text ads across several ad groups. I deleted all the past ads and only three ad groups remain with ads that follow this format. When I hit add new ad group, the ad come pre-populated with the text of a now deleted ad and I cannot for the life of me change it. I would love for one of my active ads to come up as I only have to change one name and one number in each ad. How do I control what that default ad is? How can I make it stop being an ad I have deleted. Please help!

Keyword quota exceeded! Need help with Adwords Strategy
Hello, I was playing around with my Adwords and received a nice message from Google saying "Keywood Quota exceed". Basically I have too many keywords. That made me wonder if I could organize my keywords better. I sell tractor parts online. The majority of traffic is from people putting the part number into Google i.e 0J51MP5ON . It therefore made sense to use the manufactures SKU as keywords. The problem is that we have 30,000 keywords and will be moving to 100,000 - which above the Google limit. Each keyword links to the appropriate page on the website i.e. 0J51MP5ON goes to the 0J51MP5ON page. To make things simpler I could cut down on keywords by redirecting all parts starting with 0J5 to a 0J5 landing page for parts being with 0J5. The would be from the same Tractor manufacturer. However, I am worried this will reduce conversation rates. It will make it easier to manage the keywords. Anyone got any better suggestions?
