Wordpress 'Hide Title' Feature, does this help shorten title length
-
Im wondering if anyone with some Wordpress experience can help me.
I am using Yoast to create my page titles, but yet Moz tells me that my page titles including my actual page title tag which is 'dumfries wedding photography | Hemera Visuals'
by clicking on the 'hide title' feature in wordpress will this in turn stop wordpress from automatically adding my page title and therfor bring my title length down drastically? And if so will I have to wait till google next crawls my page to see if this works?
Kind Regards Cameron.

Hi C Pagan,
I work almost exclusively with WordPress and I am very familiar with the Yoast SEO plugin. If your theme has the option to hide titles or you do this with some customization this does not remove the titles from the pages and posts themselves but hides them from being visible to humans not bots and search engines.
In Yoast you have to manually set the page title in the admin under settings - general site title. For all pages and posts Yoast will automatically use the page or post title along with the site title so if your page title is Plumbing and your site title is Plumbing NY your page title will be Plumbing - Plumbing NY by default.
You must manually change your SEO page titles in the meta box underneath the editor on the individual pages or posts to be what you want them to be. Here you can also specify your focus keyword and the pages description.

Hi C Pagan,
It been a little while since my wordpress days so bare with me.
Wordpress themes normally add a page title in the form of a heading to many pages - The hide title option as far an i am aware removes this heading, either by stopping the code generating it or moving it way off the page where it is not visible.
If this is still correct, then the hide title features will have no impact - the error from moz it talking about the Title bar - this is the text that appears on the tab in your browser, you can preview it in its full length in most browsers by mousing over it for a few seconds. You can use this to preview any changes you make without having to wait for the listing to change in google.
I would imaging your titles are being automatically generated using the page name plus a prefix or suffix and together it has become to long
I think in yoast you do something like SEO → Titles & Metas to get where this is editable, but it has been a while.

Page Title (Meta descriptions) length... how strict are you?
I have just had a conversation with a client... the gist was this... Is it more important to stay under the 55-60 characters OR go over a bit and have the page title make sense and include the clients company name. The same argument for meta description. I have a client insisting on 55-60 length but the keywords are long and if we use the primary keyword phrase the length is 44 if we use the keyword phrase and add the company name it becomes 64. This is with us trimming it a bit. Anyone else discussed this before?

Should stop words be used in titles? I'm aiming for natural title structure.
I have fully optimized on-page SEO for the following keyword (not really the one I use, but it can serve as an example): -personal driver in los angeles Even though "in" is a stop word, I prefer to have a natural (non-robotic) structure for the title - I do this by including "in". I believe that "personal driver los angeles" is too spammy and too robotic. Is this a good or a bad thing?

Disabling archives in wordpress
Hi! Do you think it better to: a) have all archives crawled (date, time, category etc.) even though they create duplicate content,. or; b) disable crawling of all archives? Ideally, I'd like to set up just excerpts in the archives and have a unique intro for each, but I'm having trouble doing this just now so was wondering which is the smarter option in the meantime? Thanks very much!

Assigning Locations to Wordpress from SEO Perspective?
I am looking for a way to split up and assign my 400 Wordpress posts to my business' four separate office locations. The four offices are in four separate areas with distinct city names. What way makes the most sense from an SEO perspective - assigning the city names as categories? adding the location as a tag, or some other way that I haven't considered? Currently, all posts are categorized by content and have no mention of location. Happy to answer any questions you might need in order to answer. Thank you!

Duplicate Page Title
I have a dating site, it's got a lot of duplicate page titles, most of them are the language buttons for the users to view the site in there language. but I think it's obvious that the buttons don't have anything to do with it. I'm thinking that page tittle is basically a description of what the site is. like for an example "online-dating" is this it? please tell me in terms for a dummy, how to fix it.

Issue: Duplicate Page Title
When you are in Error status for Duplicate Page Titles - but it is because of the root domain: Example.com and Example.com/index How to you go about changing the title of the same page without looking un-natural. My client has built his site with the - index file pulling to the root - but the crawlers are seeing TWO separate pages - when in reality they are the same. Riddle me this batman?
